Disney Infinity was a runaway success last year, so how do you capitalize while trying to make things even bigger and better for the next gens? How about inviting the Marvel Superheroes along for the party? This year, Disney Interactive brings characters like Spider-Man, Thor and the Incredible Hulk into the fray, while introducing more of their own characters and playsets. Disney Infinity 2.0 might be one of the first games you consider grabbing the kids for the Holidays, and lucky for you, it’s available on pretty well every console. Come take a look.
Review – Destiny, a Next Generation Shooter Among the Stars
A new chapter in the history of the First-person Shooter, Destiny is the next game from game developer Bungie, who changed the world (or at least, the shooter) with their first big franchise, Halo. Created after seperating from Microsoft and forging their own path, costing (it’s rumored) upwards of 500 Million and countless man hours to produce, Destiny is a statement. Let’s find out what it is.
Kobo Aura H2O: the best e-reader gets better and it’s now...
If you are someone who casually reads e-books, then you probably don’t need a device like the Kobo Aura H2O. A smartphone or tablet will likely do just fine. But if you’re someone like me —an avid reader who’s fully committed to digital— then the new Aura H2O is the biggest news since last year’s Kobo Aura HD. I’ve been using Kobo’s latest flagship e-reader and even gone so far as dunking it in a sink full of water. Read on to see just how good this premium e-reader is.
Pebble Steel review: a good smartwatch gets more style
Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past few years, you’ve heard of the Pebble (no pun intended). When it comes to the smartwatch category of wearable technology, Pebble is a rock star and with the Pebble Steel, this smartwatch now looks the part too. I just wrapped up a few weeks with the Pebble Steel and here’s what I think of the latest Pebble, from battery life to customization.
MOSS Zombonitron 1600 reviewed: a magnetic robotic kit
When you think of robotic building sets —not just toys you assemble, but kits that allow you to create robotic models that interact with their surroundings— LEGO Mindstorms probably come to mind. There’s a new option, though, a Kickstarter success story that’s now going mainstream. My kids and I had the chance to try out a MOSS Zombonitron 1600 set. Here’s what I we thought about what Modular Robotics calls its “futuristic building blocks of ingenious invention.”
Review: Hyrule Warriors steps on new ground but respects tradition
Hyrule Warriors is a joint collaboration between the folks at Nintendo and KOEI Tecmo. Meant to envision the Legend of Zelda’s characters mashed into the Dynasty Warriors style of gameplay, Hyrule Warriors takes your favourite characters into uncharactered territory, but does a good job doing it. Come check out the latest in the Legend of Zelda universe.
Review: Cutting the cable cord with ClearStream and Tablo
When the notice arrived for a rate increase, we were ready to say goodbye to cable. It took a bit of planning and introducing the ClearStream C1C short-range antenna and Tablo two-tuner over-the-air (OTA) DVR into the mix. But the cord’s been cut and we haven’t looked back since.
Review: The Gen 2 Cookoo Smartwatch leaves the first behind
We all hold Kickstarter and crowdfunding in such dear light, and one of the early successes of the model was the Cookoo Smartwatch. Unfortunately, the first watch left a few things to be desired. A few months later, the second generation is out, adding a lot of the missing pieces from the first and more (like better water resistance) while keeping it all at an afforable price. Come check out how this watch stacks up!
Review: Killer Instinct Combo Breaker Pack is a blast from the...
I have a few lasting memories of all the hours of Killer Instinct I played as a kid: Firstly that Orchid was possibly the pound for pound easiest button mashing character in fight gaming until Eddy Gordo showed up in Tekken 3. Secondly was how demeaning and frustrating a combo breaker was! On the 20th anniversary of the first Killer Instinct, the full first season is our for Xbox Live in disc form at a VERY reasonable price. Come check out the Killer Instinct Combo Breaker Pack.
Review: Sphero’s Ollie spins circles around its Robot competitors
For the most part, many of the iOS based toys nowadays have potential, but are very limited to what they can do. The Parrot Mini-Drones for example were fun, but not that expansive in ability. They both also cost more than the Sphero Ollie, a brand new challenger into the fold. Ollie comes from the same science and physics loving minds behind the Sphero and promises to continue branching fun and physics at an affordable price. You know what? It’s great fun too. Come check out the Sphero Ollie.
