blendtek.jpgIf you asked me which small kitchen appliance I use the most, I’d have to go with my blender. For unique smoothies, chunky soup ingredients, or just to chop things up into small pieces, a blender is one of the most versatile appliances in the kitchen.

When it comes to blenders, one size does not fit all, and there are a lot of different makes and models to choose from. Hand or immersion blenders, countertop blenders, or even juicer/blender combinations – no matter what you want to use your blender for, there’s a blender to suit you.

Here’s a look at the top blenders carried on Bestbuy.ca as rated by you, the customers.

Breville 5-speed BBL605XL

4.6/5 (7 ratings, 9 reviews)

When you want to crush ice or grind up almonds, you need a blender with an extra-powerful motor. The Breville BBL605XL has a 750-watt motor and more, so you can crush, whip, and chop anything you toss inside.

Michael Davis of Simcoe, ON said of the Breville BBL605X:

This is a well-designed blender with all the essential features and no extraneous whistles and bells. The overall manufacturing quality appears to be first-rate, although only time will tell how reliable it is over the long term. It has a powerful motor but still operates relatively quietly. I particularly like the smoothie function since that is what I use a blender for most of the time. Unlike my previous 20-year-old blender this one lets me throw all the ingredients, including frozen fruit and protein powder, in all at once and it still makes a much better smoothie. There may be more powerful and more expensive models out there, but unless you want to do stunts like grinding up a hockey puck this one will do its job just fine.

I have the Breville 5-speed blender myself, and I absolutely love how I can crush up dates, almonds, and other ingredients for my favourite snack quickly and easily. To make Brain Bites in my old blender, I had to crush each ingredient individually and then add them all back in together once they were processed. Now I can just toss everything into the Breville blender and they’re ready in less than 2 minutes.

Blendtec Designer Blender

4.8/5 (6 ratings, 4 reviews)

You’ve probably heard about the Blendtec Youtube videos? They demonstrate the power of the 1560W motor by effortlessly blending an iPhone and turning it into plastic parts. You might not want to blend up your phone, but the Blendtec Designer blender zips through frozen blocks of ice and chunks of frozen fruit to make a mean smoothie or anything else you’d like to drink. It can also make ice cream, grind meat and coffee beans, and juice entire fruits.

Harper from Toronto, ON calls his Blendtec the most used appliance in the kitchen.

We have owned our Blendec Designer Series blender for about nine months. We have used the blender for almost 400 cycles (it has a counter). This thing blasts through anything we put in it. We were willing to invest big bucks in the blender only after having learned the hard way several times buying cheaper blenders and bullet-shaped contraptions that got sticky and ultimately burned-out. We finally bought the Blendtec and it was the right decision. Our young kids drink a smoothie every morning containing kale and spinach!!! I didn’t eat salad willingly until I was almost an adult and my kids eat (drink) a salad every day. That alone makes the Blendec worth the price. My wife and I have increased our vegetable and protein intake since getting our Blendec. I’m sure we’re going to be a healthier family moving forward. This machine does not collect dust in our house. Buy one.

Breville Control Grip Immersion Blender

5/5 (3 ratings, 3 reviews)

When it comes to making whip cream, you cannot beat an immersion blender like the Breville Control Grip Immersion Blender. You can use the wire whisk attachment and make homemade whip cream right at the table, and it’s also great for puréeing soup right in the pot, making gravy in your roasting pan, or chopping up vegetables.

Garrup from Medicine Hat, Alberta gives the Breville Control Grip Immersion Blender 5 out of 5 stars and sums it up with one word—”Wow”

I love this thing. It’s the first stick blender I’ve had. I did my research before buying it and am I ever glad I did. It’s a solid unit, easy to use, easy to clean. Powerful too. It does a good quick job of anything and without splashing food around.

Breville-juice-blend.jpg

Breville Juice & Blend

5/5 (2 ratings, 1 review)

Can’t quite decide between a juicer and a blender? You can have both when you choose the Breville Juice & Blend. The juicer has a 3-inch wide chute, 5 variable speeds, and 1200 watts of power to blow through every piece of fruit or vegetable you put into it. Turn to blend mode and you’ll access a 750-watt motor that will create smoothies, soup, and anything else you can think of.

English Bay Chick from Vancouver, BC calls it a “Great Gadget”:

Works like a charm. I purchased it because I live in a very small space and couldn’t afford room for a separate blender, so I figured I get both things I love. It takes 30 minutes for a good clean and make sure to clean it right away as soon as you use it, easier to deal with.
