You know those home shows that take one room in your house and turn it into your absolute dream room? Maybe for some people it would be hard to choose just one room out of all the rooms in your house, but I’d offer up my kitchen in a heartbeat if someone offered to give me a dream kitchen.

Not even the lure of the softest sheets and fluffiest duvet in my bedroom would deter me from a glorious French door fridge and convection oven. After all, the kitchen is the heart of most homes, and it’s definitely the hub of mine.

What would you choose for your dream kitchen? I’ve been daydreaming about mine for years. Here’s what I’d choose for my dream kitchen:

Stark whites, bright blue accents

My current kitchen is blue with blonde cabinets, but if I could change it all I’d choose a country white cabinet with dark granite countertops and trendy blue and dark grey accents. On the walls I’d use white or grey-white, because a neutral shade like that will make all the blue really pop.

Cozy up to a fireplace

Not every kitchen needs to have a fireplace, but I’d love to have one in mine. Something like the Paramount 23” retrofit electric fireplace insert would be perfect when placed inside an old fireplace mantel that was distressed and painted with chalk paint. Then, come winter when it gets chilly, you just flip a switch and your kitchen is the coziest room in the house.

Stainless steel style all around

I’ve never been one to stick to a single appliance brand in my kitchen. As long as all of the appliances are stainless steel, I’m happy to invite them in. My top pick for a new fridge in my dream kitchen would be the Samsung French door refrigerator. It has a built in water and ice dispenser, sleek French door design with tons of space to hold the kid’s lunches and all of the milk I buy, and a pull out drawer for things like soda and other items I want to have organized.

I’ve had the standard range with the standard burners for so long that I’d love to switch it up with the LG 29” Slide-In Self-Clean Smooth Top Range. It gives you convection cooking with two fans and two built-in heating elements, and it has a, wait for it, baking drawer! I’d be thrilled to have a baking drawer.

The smooth top is easy to clean, and it has 5 cooking elements so I can put on my huge Thanksgiving dinner without the stress of having to prioritize what I’m cooking.

I have an over-the-stove microwave right now and I love it, but I would love to upgrade it for more features and the Frigidaire Gallery 1.7 Cu.Ft. Over-The Range Microwave would fit the bill perfectly. It cooks, defrosts, and reheats, but it also has a convection function for even cooking of all types of dishes. Plus, it’s big enough to fit my large casserole dishes so I can reheat huge family dinners all at once.

With all of the cooking I’d be doing in my dream kitchen, I’ll need a high-capacity dishwasher to scrub up all those dishes. The Bosch 46 dBA dishwasher is a tall tub dishwasher and it can wash up to 15 place settings. That’s exactly what I have to have for my large family, because although I love to cook, I don’t love to do load after load of dishes. It’s also ultra-quiet, so I can turn it on during dinner and we’d barely be able to hear it.

Walk in and get organized

A walk in pantry is high on my list of must-haves for my dream kitchen. To be able to have enough space for my collection of cereals, canned goods, and all of my appliances? I can’t think of anything better.

Gather around the table

Whether we’re eating a big dinner or just sitting around doing homework, the kitchen table is the heart of the kitchen. I love this Monarch dining table for my dream kitchen, and I’d add two benches so I could seat two kids on either side. It also has an 18” removable leaf so you can expand the table to fit more people.

It’s nice to dream, isn’t it? If you’re not into doing a complete tear down and reno of your kitchen, try doing it one step at a time. Before you know you’ll be putting things into place to make your dream kitchen become a reality.
