Why you should be looking at Samsung TVs in 2023

Have you looked at the range of TVs on display at a Best Buy store these days? I have. Impressive. Almost all of them are LED TVs, though there are a range of types of LED TVs. In the store your eyes will first be drawn to the stunning Samsung Frame TVs. We gave one of these away earlier this year on the blog. Then you’ll look at some of the other types of LEDs and, if you are like most people, you’ll be confused by the terms: OLED, QLED, and Neo QLED. All three are great. All three do some things better than other things. For example, OLEDs have the best blacks thanks to individual self-lighting pixels. QLED has the best brightness (great for bright rooms) thanks to the backlighting. Neo QLEDs are the best combination thanks to their arrays of mini-LED backlighting. Samsung QLED and Neo QLEDs have other advantages too including lower costs.

Why do you want a new TV this fall

Each year, the fall season seems to usher in not just pumpkin spice lattes and sweater weather, but also a surge in people bringing home new TV sets. Here are the top two reasons why:

1. New models and clearance sales

Television manufacturers often release new models in the spring and summer so by fall, these new releases have had time to be reviewed so you know which ones to buy. This not only help you make more informed decisions but also puts pressure on retailers to clear out older inventory to make room for the next generation of models. So whether you are looking for the best new TVs or last year’s models at significant savings, this is the best time of year.

2. Ready for holiday entertainment and sports events

The fall season is a precursor to major holidays like Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve, all of which are synonymous with family gatherings and home entertainment. People anticipate needing a better or bigger TV to host movie marathons, special broadcasts, and, of course, holiday specials. Additionally, fall is a significant season for sports with the NFL, NBA, and NHL seasons bringing excitement into our homes. The lure of watching big games and key matchups on a shiny new screen can be hard to resist.

Fall is a perfect storm of incentives; it’s the season not just for falling leaves but also for finding the perfect new TV for your home on television sets. And it’s the perfect time for us to have a contest giving two of the newest and best TVs away.

  3. In a comment beneath Shelly’s review of the QN90C, tell us how many hours of TV get watched in your home, and one thing that you learned about this television from Shelly’s review.

What you can win

At the end of this contest, we will randomly draw two winners. One will receive the Samsung QN90C TV that Shelly reviewed and the other will receive the Samsung Q70C TV that Shelly reviewed.

This contest runs from Sept 15th to Oct 1st.

  1. I would like a new TV that has a larger screen size and is a Smart TV so I could access more TV apps. 2 shows I look forward to watching are The Voice and Yellowstone.

  4. 1. Need to replace an aging TV, in fact one turns on with no picture! Not sure if worth going for repairs.
    2. Something to game on, as I am currently forced to play on my small 27″ monitor instead.

Two reasons that we like a new TV are: 1) Our current TV is about 10 years old now, it is limited to 1080P and it no longer receives software updates from the manufacturer (Sony). 2) The TV panel is starting to go we think, when the TV powers on initially, the top half of the screen is line heavy with a frozen frrame that takes about 5 seconds to go away.
    As for shows we are looking forward to viewing this fall, that would be the new season of Quantum Leap and the new show, The Irrational.

  6. 1. need to replace old TV. 2. QLED has the best brightness in bright rooms. I would be interested in watching old shows ex. The Secret World of Santa Claus and the Office.

  7. Would be pumped to win a new tv because (a) our old tv just died out of nowhere and (b) we’d like to upgrade to something slightly bigger. Looking forward to watching The new Night Court and Amazing Race this fall!

  8. One thing I learned from the review is the Q70C has the best blacks because of its self lighting pixels. My idea size of TV for my home would be 50 inches, anything larger would dominate the living room too much.

  12. 2 reasons why I would like a new TV is: we only have 1 TV shared between 1 adult and 2 teenage kids and the TV that we have used to be a “smart TV”, but I think it’s moving towards the “not so smart” now, as every time we use it we have to now enter the wifi code manually.

  13. I’ll be checking out Best Buy this Fall for a new TV. Mine is over 20 years old and there is a big yellow box in the middle of the screen. The color must be starting to go. I’d also like to upgrade to a bigger size.
    I’m looking forward to a new TV to watch hockey on. It will be nice to see it crisp, clear and on a bigger screen. It will be like they’re skating right in my living room!! I started watching a new show with Kaley Cuoco called ‘Based on A True Story’; which is really interesting a going to be dramatic to watch on the new screen and I’m also looking forward to ‘Snake Oil’ with David Spade.

    As well, we decided against cable/satellite this year, so a newer tv to use Netflix and Prime with would be great!

  16. One of the major reasons we would like a new TV this fall is to upgrade to the new technology that wasn’t available or was cost prohibitive when we last upgraded.
    2nd reason is that although our current 43″ set was a huge move up from our old CRT TV it would be nice to get a larger set to watch.
    The two shows I’m looking forward to watching are Cosmos:Possible Worlds and The Right Stuff.

  17. I would really like a new tv. Due to my medical situation most of the colder months fall/winter I’m cooped up in the home till spring so having an awesome newer crystal clear tv would be just awesome. So far my fall favourite shows are Wheel of Time and Invasion.

  18. Hello Best Buy Blog Team. I would love to win a new Samsung TV this fall. I would set it up in my basement where I can replace an older, smaller TV from another manufacturer and watch programs that my wife and I enjoy. The newer features and streaming apps bundled with smart TVs will conveniently allow us during winter to practice health and fitness while watching wellness and motivational videos.

    My wife and I enjoy Sci-Fi and Thrillers and would watch all episodes from seasons Wheel of Time and Jack Ryan.

  19. 2 reasons are to retire the one TV to a dedicated gaming room and the second is to upgrade on the technology of the picture quality and AI upscaling. 2 shows are The Office and Parks and Recreation.

    New Models and Sales: Fall is when new TV models are well-reviewed, and retailers clear out older stock, offering great deals on both new and last year’s models.

    Holiday and Sports: With holidays and sports events in fall, a new TV would be perfect for hosting gatherings and enjoying games.

    b. From Shelly’s review of the Q70C, I learned it’s a Samsung Q70C 4K UHD HDR QLED Smart TV. I’d prefer a 43-inch TV for my home.

    c. We watch about 20 hours of TV weekly. Shelly’s review revealed the Samsung QN90C is a 4K UHD HDR Neo QLED Tizen Smart TV, indicating it has advanced features for a better viewing experience.

  37. I would love a new TV this fall. We’re using a super old TV with bezels so thick you can land a plane on them. I’m missing out on higher definition programming and also I could use the network features found in modern sets.
    I’m looking forward to watching Ahsoka and Lower Decks on this new set

  38. I need a new big, beautiful TV in my recently renovated space. I have a games room with a lackluster TV for viewing and playing at the moment and that needs an upgrade. Also Id love to see our gaming on a bright, beautiful screen. Mario should be the star of the room. I am excited to watch all the Chicago series TV shows and I am super excited for hockey season!   39. I would love a new TV because our last TV was broken by our autistic child and we don’t have a back up TV if this one breaks. Our TV is also 12 years old! We would love to be able to watch our own shows, like Friends and the 100 and our daughter would love to watch her Magic School Bus and Thomas shows.

  41. OK so two reasons I would like a new tv are:
    a) My current tv is is not a smart tv because is 13 years old
    b) and my current tv is small

  47. We would benefit from an additional TV so there is less conflict over who has the TV viewing priviledge that day and So we could have a gaming TV. I have been waiting to watch Good Omens and … live cams from around the world (don’t know if that is a show).

  49. What I learned from Shelly’s review of the QN90C is that is has the hub so no need for an additional console to play games. The TV in our family room is on probably 12 – 15 hours a day. Sometimes just for background noise and evenings, we watch our favorite shows.

    • Our tv stopped working last week! I have two young boys and a sports loving husband that need a tv (for my sanity haha) We would have hockey/baseball and kids shows on mostly!

  50. 2 reasons why I would like a new TV are to replace our small old tv that is on its way out soon and for my kids and I to be able to play video games on a bigger/newer tv.
    2 shows I’m looking forward to watching on it are: Hockey and The Price is Right (my kids have become hooked watching all the reruns this summer)
