Why you should be looking at Samsung TVs in 2023

Have you looked at the range of TVs on display at a Best Buy store these days? I have. Impressive. Almost all of them are LED TVs, though there are a range of types of LED TVs. In the store your eyes will first be drawn to the stunning Samsung Frame TVs. We gave one of these away earlier this year on the blog. Then you’ll look at some of the other types of LEDs and, if you are like most people, you’ll be confused by the terms: OLED, QLED, and Neo QLED. All three are great. All three do some things better than other things. For example, OLEDs have the best blacks thanks to individual self-lighting pixels. QLED has the best brightness (great for bright rooms) thanks to the backlighting. Neo QLEDs are the best combination thanks to their arrays of mini-LED backlighting. Samsung QLED and Neo QLEDs have other advantages too including lower costs.

Why do you want a new TV this fall

Each year, the fall season seems to usher in not just pumpkin spice lattes and sweater weather, but also a surge in people bringing home new TV sets. Here are the top two reasons why:

1. New models and clearance sales

Television manufacturers often release new models in the spring and summer so by fall, these new releases have had time to be reviewed so you know which ones to buy. This not only help you make more informed decisions but also puts pressure on retailers to clear out older inventory to make room for the next generation of models. So whether you are looking for the best new TVs or last year’s models at significant savings, this is the best time of year.

2. Ready for holiday entertainment and sports events

The fall season is a precursor to major holidays like Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve, all of which are synonymous with family gatherings and home entertainment. People anticipate needing a better or bigger TV to host movie marathons, special broadcasts, and, of course, holiday specials. Additionally, fall is a significant season for sports with the NFL, NBA, and NHL seasons bringing excitement into our homes. The lure of watching big games and key matchups on a shiny new screen can be hard to resist.

Fall is a perfect storm of incentives; it’s the season not just for falling leaves but also for finding the perfect new TV for your home on television sets. And it’s the perfect time for us to have a contest giving two of the newest and best TVs away.

  3. In a comment beneath Shelly’s review of the QN90C, tell us how many hours of TV get watched in your home, and one thing that you learned about this television from Shelly’s review.

What you can win

At the end of this contest, we will randomly draw two winners. One will receive the Samsung QN90C TV that Shelly reviewed and the other will receive the Samsung Q70C TV that Shelly reviewed.

This contest runs from Sept 15th to Oct 1st.

  1. I would like a new TV this fall as mine is currently 10+ years old and an entry model and has nowhere near the quality or features of the new models. The two shows I am most looking forward to watching if I win this contest are the new season of Wheel of Time and The Continental (John Wick TV series).

  7. The combination of watching football in the fall + the gaming hub for cloud streaming. To cloud game properly, you need a powerful TV which these Samsung TVs are.

    In terms of what shows, probably NFL (if you want to call that a “show”) + Loki on Disney+

  19. Honestly our current TV isnt great. Picture quality is lacking. After spending 10+ hours a day on the computer working, we like to watch TV to relax at night. Could be age, could be tired eyes or could be the old TV, but seems like I have more eye strain watching then relaxing. Would be nice to just relax and enjoy.   20. I need a new TV because my current one is plasma from 2011! The resolution is only 1080p and it lacks smartTV functions which are both a staple in today’s day and age. I’d love to watch House of Dragon and Westworld on a QLED screen.

  42. Movies would be nice to watch on a TV as ours broke and now only watch on cell. Would be nice to have a TV again.

  43. I’d love a new TV this fall because the TV in our main TV watching area isn’t 4K and we are definitely not getting the best picture quality. The TV is also fairly small for the room size so a larger model would make everything that much better.

    1) My old Hisence LCD TV is great but is showing its age a lot!
    2) better picture quality — I would love a better screen that isn’t blurry at times.

  45. I’d love a new t.v. for in my bedroom specifically because I am disabled and can’t always get out of bed to go watch t.v. in the living room. Additionally, having a t.v. in my room would allow me to watch something different if I want. My roommate doesn’t take care of things and I want a t.v. of my own to ensure it’s safety lol. He actually used Windex on a 4k t.v. I need this so much.

  46. I’d love/need a new tv. Mine has started to show a blue line run across the screen (from time to time). I imagine it’s dying a slow and painful death. I need a clear crisp screen to enjoy old movies and watch history channel.
