Doug Harris (Josh Gadnever established any friendships while growing up and now that the big day has arrived, he hires Jimmy Callahan (Kevin Hart) to provide him best man and groomsmen services.

My thoughts on the film

The month of January is usually where films go to crash and burn just to fill a void in the theatres, so fittingly, I thought The Wedding Ringer was going to be a dud. Sure, it stars the very funny Kevin Hart, but usually, you don’t want to mess with January films. Well, surprisingly, The Wedding Ringer is funny.

Also starring Josh Gad, Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting and some other recognizable faces you see from time to time, The Wedding Ringer brings the laughs. Now, this film is rated R, so you’ll need to change your mindset in what to expect when you think about an R-rated comedy. There are some paths taken in which some people might think is over the top unnecessary or uncalled for, but for the most part, it’s a Kevin Hart film and I think we know what to expect from him. Of course, there are those who dislike Kevin Hart and to those people, I say, stay away from this film.

Josh Gad was his usual funny self as well, and even though Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting is Josh Gad’s fiance, she plays a small part in the film to have any real impact. As for the storyline, I thought it was mostly predictable, but there were instances where I was proven wrong and there would be some twists and turns. Fun fact of the day: This film was actually meant to star Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn, but I’m glad it wasn’t as people would’ve compared it to Wedding Crashers.

Rating 4/5

The Wedding Ringer might not be for everyone and it won’t be the funniest film of the year, but it does its job in making people laugh.

The Wedding Ringer is now playing in theatres.
