A few years ago Google rocked my world by releasing the first version of Google Chromecast. I loved it! It turned any television into a smart TV, instantly … and for an amazingly low price. Since then, the whole chromecast ecosystem has become more extensive and useful. I use my original chromecast every day and I can’t wait to try the newest version, now with a great Google TV interface. Read on to learn more and to find out how to enter for a chance to win one.

Chromecast changed TV watching forever

Casting from my phone to my TV still feels magical. I’ve been doing it for several years using a Google Chromecast and it amazes me how easy, effortless, and predictable casting is. Few technologies promise so much from such a tiny device and deliver beyond expectation consistently as well as a Chromecast.

And the Chromecast experience keeps getting better. At first there were only a few things we could cast: Netflix was the most important! Then Prime became available and other apps. This summer I casted NHL games from the CBC sports app. The video and audio were fantastic.

Google improved on perfection with the new Chomecast with Google TV

I rarely use superlatives for the obvious reason that few things are “always” or “never” a certain way. For example, some people say it’s always raining in Vancouver … no, it’s not! However, I can say I am always happy with my Chromecast. I rely on it for almost all of my TV viewing. It’s technology at its best because it does what I expect it to do, every time.

That’s why I can’t wait to try the new Chromecast with Google TV. This new version has a remote that you can talk to via Google Assistant integration. The remote adds more funcationality to Chromecast since you won’t have to use your phone at all if don’t want to. Also new is an interface on the television that simplifies the process of finding series you are watching or new shows you want to watch.   11. I love how easy it is to setup and stream things on the Chromecast that I find on my phone like Youtube videos and Netflix. I have 3 of them in my house and have given another 3 as gifts over the years. I’m excited for the latest one because it’ll have it’s own remote which should make it easier to pause and rewind the most interesting parts of my shows.

  14. With everything from the Nest Hub Max to the Nest Doorbell, I own the entire product line up, including the Chromecast Ultra. Until now, Google was lacking in this space and I had to use a Amazon Firestick to make up for the shortcomings. When I win, I would happily close the gap by replacing the Firestick. The first thing I would stream would be my Nest cameras, followed by Supercar Blondie on Youtube.

    • Can forget that I love the fact that I can use this device independently without having to cast everything from a phone as well as the 4K HDR with Dolby Atmos

  17. We have a Chromecast on every TV, streaming disney+ for our kids mainly. Can’t wait to be able to pick out what’s next without our phone.

  24. I loved the way how Google innovates so quickly and understands the need of people. Has used the 1st version of Chromecast as well as Amazon firestick but was waiting for these version from Google. Looks, technology, features and the new remote seems to be great.

  25. I’ve always used Chromecast for YouTube Music through my TV home entertainment system. Now that it’s got a remote and Android TV named it’s the dream!! I was in Best Buy on Oct 8th and that store had new Chromecast out for purchase….I walked right up and asked to buy TWO… Once the salesperson scanned it….”UH..I CAN’T SEEMS THIS TO YOU UNTIL THE 15TH??” she says… Laughing to myself I said ” Damn…I KNEW it”””

    • Been casting from phone. Have an android TV from Toshiba since 3 years. Those morons won’t update it.
      Still stuck on Android TV 8.1

      I have purchased 2 new Google Chrome cast (Sabrina) for my friends, who have dumb TV. One has a Samsung not so smart TV and other has a normal 4K dumb TV.

      This hopefully is bound to solve their streaming and app issues. As well as the need for VPN services.

      I actually hated the previous Chrome cast, it was too dumb and restrictive for me.

      Because I have an android TV that’s still fair in usage, I am not going to buy Chrome cast for myself.
      But if I do get one, I would love to try on the project of ambilight setup with it.

  32. My dad loved the chromecast ever since I installed it on his TV. I have every single model of Chromecast available and gave some to my friends who has a TV but no media box and they love how they can easily stream video right out of a single tap from their phone.

    This new generation of Chromecast will more streamline the current process of casting videos to your “not-so-smart” tv turning it into a full fledged latest gen Smart TV using its own minimalist remote opening into new set of entertainment especially to my dad who is not used on using different streaming apps other than Netflix and YouTube

I think is a big step for google family, I would like to use it specially with my parents to watch movies or streaming their favourite songs, play with my cousins and the most important thing have it to complete the smart house! We love the products of google they’re easy to use, faster and entertainment. Cant wait to have it on my family’s room and take advantage of it. 🙂

  40. I bought the very first Chromecast. It changed my life. I like the simplicity and convenience. I also can’t wait to stream 4k content and have all of my media subscriptions in one place that I’m able to access with a remote

  47. I love how easy the Chromecast is to use. I own a Nvidia Shield TV and love how it performs. This would make a great budget friendly device. I would stream workout videos so I could lose the covid weight I gained.

  48. Chromecast is a very useful product, i love that it is a simple plug and play device that hides behind your tv with mininal setup required and I would love to stream disney+ on it!
