A few years ago Google rocked my world by releasing the first version of Google Chromecast. I loved it! It turned any television into a smart TV, instantly … and for an amazingly low price. Since then, the whole chromecast ecosystem has become more extensive and useful. I use my original chromecast every day and I can’t wait to try the newest version, now with a great Google TV interface. Read on to learn more and to find out how to enter for a chance to win one.

Chromecast changed TV watching forever

Casting from my phone to my TV still feels magical. I’ve been doing it for several years using a Google Chromecast and it amazes me how easy, effortless, and predictable casting is. Few technologies promise so much from such a tiny device and deliver beyond expectation consistently as well as a Chromecast.

And the Chromecast experience keeps getting better. At first there were only a few things we could cast: Netflix was the most important! Then Prime became available and other apps. This summer I casted NHL games from the CBC sports app. The video and audio were fantastic.

Google improved on perfection with the new Chomecast with Google TV

I rarely use superlatives for the obvious reason that few things are “always” or “never” a certain way. For example, some people say it’s always raining in Vancouver … no, it’s not! However, I can say I am always happy with my Chromecast. I rely on it for almost all of my TV viewing. It’s technology at its best because it does what I expect it to do, every time.

That’s why I can’t wait to try the new Chromecast with Google TV. This new version has a remote that you can talk to via Google Assistant integration. The remote adds more funcationality to Chromecast since you won’t have to use your phone at all if don’t want to. Also new is an interface on the television that simplifies the process of finding series you are watching or new shows you want to watch.   3. My favorite thing about the Chromecast is how it turns any old dated tv into a state of the art smart TV that gets constant updates to make sure my tv watching is speedy and featured. On top of that it’s so easy to use! I would definitely stream the second season of the Mandalorian!

  9. I have used 2nd and 3rd gen Chromecast and love the ability to stream on older TVs. The UI that the new version comes with will make streaming even easier. I would love to watch my childhood shows from Disney+ on this.

  13. The ability to use a remote now and to pair together with chromecast audios as well are some of my favourite features. First thing I would do is stream some Netflix or Prime video in 4k.

  15. I enjoy the ease of use that the Chromecast offers by casting from your phone, tablet or computer, and then you can continue streaming even if device that started the cast leaves. Looking forward to the Google TV part of this new device to stream upcoming Marvel related series on Disney+.

  16. It’s a double whammy. The ability to cast any video or photo to my TV as well as the access to the complete set of video apps formerly found on Android TV in a so small device. Wonderful!!! I can’t wait to get one and test it.

  23. Being one of the people who ran out and bought one on the morning of the 15th, I’m pretty impressed so far. I’m enjoying catching up to the rest of the community where many have had a couple of weeks advantage.

    I’ve managed to arrange the apps I want, side load a few that are more obscure and have fully switched over from my Firestick TVs. The remote works great and for some reason much better than Firestick when using the Shaw BlueCurve app (with appropriate HDMI mods).

  26. What I love most about Chromecast is how easy it makes displaying and watching almost any content on any HDMI-enabled screen, even very old non-smart TVs and monitors.

    I can’t wait to stream ‘The Wire’, which I already have in my Google Play library.

  31. Because it is useful, you can stream YouTube content directly on the tv. And with is this updated model you don’t need a smart tv. This makes you tv smart. All the perks of smart tv it has. Netflix, Google movies, music, etc.

  34. What I love most about the Chromecast is its ease of use. Anyone in my family, from my grandparents to my little cousins, understand exactly how to use the Chromecast. I am most excited to binge the entirety of Peaky Blinders (I’ve been putting it off for a while).

  39. Making every tv a smart tv is much more practicle with the chromecast. Still running gen 1 on a secondary tv but this new gen might get me to replace some of my stuff
