A few years ago Google rocked my world by releasing the first version of Google Chromecast. I loved it! It turned any television into a smart TV, instantly … and for an amazingly low price. Since then, the whole chromecast ecosystem has become more extensive and useful. I use my original chromecast every day and I can’t wait to try the newest version, now with a great Google TV interface. Read on to learn more and to find out how to enter for a chance to win one.

Chromecast changed TV watching forever

Casting from my phone to my TV still feels magical. I’ve been doing it for several years using a Google Chromecast and it amazes me how easy, effortless, and predictable casting is. Few technologies promise so much from such a tiny device and deliver beyond expectation consistently as well as a Chromecast.

And the Chromecast experience keeps getting better. At first there were only a few things we could cast: Netflix was the most important! Then Prime became available and other apps. This summer I casted NHL games from the CBC sports app. The video and audio were fantastic.

Google improved on perfection with the new Chomecast with Google TV

I rarely use superlatives for the obvious reason that few things are “always” or “never” a certain way. For example, some people say it’s always raining in Vancouver … no, it’s not! However, I can say I am always happy with my Chromecast. I rely on it for almost all of my TV viewing. It’s technology at its best because it does what I expect it to do, every time.

That’s why I can’t wait to try the new Chromecast with Google TV. This new version has a remote that you can talk to via Google Assistant integration. The remote adds more funcationality to Chromecast since you won’t have to use your phone at all if don’t want to. Also new is an interface on the television that simplifies the process of finding series you are watching or new shows you want to watch.   8. I love google stuff! I have minis is almost every room and I have three chomecasts at the moment. One of them is first gen… And another is a Chromecast ultra so I can play stadia games on my tv (yes have the stadia remote). I am really looking forward to the new Chromecast with the remote! Just being able to play YouTube etc on my tv without having to actually cast from my phone or Chromebook would be amazing!!

  9. The New Google TV interface, bases on Android 10, is going to be a real game changer, making it easier to browse between my favourite shows and movies from Netflix and Disney Plus among other streaming services.

  20. I’ve been using a Chromecast and a Chromecast Ultra for years and both have been amazing! I love the idea of Google TV as I can search for a specific movie or show and it’ll show me which app it’s on! As much as I’ve found it easy to cast from my phone, I’ve always preferred using a remote to navigate between apps and content so my wife and I aren’t looking through my phone to figure out what to watch. Would love this for watching Prime, FUNimation, and Fibe TV.

  30. One of the great uses of the Google Chromecast is when we go on holiday. It is easily portable and allows us to connect to services without having to enter in our passwords since we can cast from our phone. Looking forward to Netflix on the road.

  37. Picked up the new Chromecast for our main tv. It’s great. I love that we can have Plex, Disney, Netflix, prime all in one place! Hoping to get two more for the rest of the house.

The other exciting development is that it can be streamed directly from the Chromecast without having to go through another device. Looking forward to watching Netflix or Amazon Prime. I have the original Chromecast which is really showing its age. Would really appreciate the upgrade!

  41. We have some first gen Chromecasts and they’re fantastic. We don’t have any satellite or cable subscriptions. We only use streaming services such as Amazon, Netflix, and DISNEY + for the kids. It’s nice to have the chromecast so we can get the footage on the big screens in our house. The new Chromecast would be nice to have a “one stop shop” for our subscriptions.

    I’d watch some BBC David Attenborough documentaries and throw some Twitch streams on the big screen to support some fellow gamers if we won the Chromecast.

    • Mine broke so I would love the new one to stream YouTube on my TV. I miss it so much, much faster than my TVs “smart” features.

  46. What I love most about the new chromecast is the personal show selections from across all the different services. No more bouncing between apps deciding what to watch! Excited to watch the new marvel shows on disney plus soon!
