DJI Mavic Air 2 features and specs

The DJI Mavic Air 2 drone has so many impressive features that it’s difficult for me to know exactly where to begin. But that won’t stop me from trying! Of particular interest to me is the fact that it’s ready to fly right out of the box, and with only minimal setup required. This is nothing new for a DJI drone, but it’s still always greatly appreciated when there’s little to no fiddling around required beyond initially charging a battery.

Also impressive are the auto take-off and landing features. Scratch that. More than impressive, they’re an absolute necessity with any high-end drone today as they make flying the drone safe and super easy (even for inexperienced pilots). This is important both practically and in terms of allowing newer pilots to build up their confidence by flying proficiently and without incident—something that DJI seems to understand very well.DJIIf impressive specs are what get your attention, the Mavic Air 2 can fly at an altitude of 5,000 metres, and at a transmission range (the distance from its controller) of up to 10Km, which are both more than most users will ever need. It also has a 3500mAh lithium-ion battery that is, of course, fully rechargeable and will keep your drone humming and floating smoothly along for as much as 34 minutes at a time. This will give you plenty of time to see and shoot all of the amazing sights that its high-end camera will see.

And speaking of that camera, it’s a 1/2″ CMOS sensor that can record amazing video footage in Ultra 4K HD quality at 60fps. It can also shoot in 1080p at 240fps (for crystal-clear video) and can capture 48MP pictures and 8K hyperlapse. Its panorama mode offers high dynamic range and complete colour coverage, while its burst and time-lapse modes allow for some fun stylistic experimentation.

And then there’s the fact that it can automatically lock onto a subject and follow that person or object around while maintaining it/them in centre frame, as well as its SmartPhoto feature (with scene recognition), HDR mode, low-light capabilities, a three-axis gimbal for super stabilization when shooting videos, and numerous other high-end photography features.

Of course, a great camera isn’t all that the new Mavic Air 2 has: it also offers great safety features, like an awareness of its environment and obstacle avoidance, a low battery warning (so you’ll always know when it’s time to bring it in), and even a return to home feature (to ensure that you don’t push your luck past the battery’s capabilities) that will bring your drone to a safe and stable landing at its initial take-off point when the battery power gets too low.

And I’m not even mentioning everything that the DJI Mavic Air 2 can do. If you’d like to learn about all of its many great and impressive features and specs, the best thing you can do is check out its Best Buy product page, where you can also conveniently pre-order yours today. (Note: There’s also an option available with a Fly More Combo—as in additional components included.) The expected release date of the Mavic Air 2 is May 29th, so there isn’t even a long wait to endure. Happy flying!
