Facebook PortalIn these unprecedented times, it’s more important than ever to keep in touch with your colleagues, friends, family, and loved ones—and Facebook Portal was designed just for that purpose. Like many of us, you’re probably spending the majority of your time at home right now. You might be juggling the kids, the cats, and the dogs while you’re trying to work from home, or perhaps you’re spending your days watching oodles of Netflix and playing the hottest Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One games. (Maybe all of the above?) Enter this contest and, if you win, you’ll be able to spend more time connecting with the people you work with or the people you love: the prize is three Facebook Portal devices.

Face-to-face communications always give you that extra something

Sure, you could send an email. But isn’t it nice to see someone’s face light up when you say hello? That’s backed up by science. One of the world’s foremost experts on human communication, Professor Albert Mehrabian’s famed “7-38-55 rule of personal communication” breaks human interactions down to a general ratio of 7% verbal, 38% tone of voice, and 55% body language. That means your facial expressions, gestures, and other movements can make up more than half of your message!

Facebook Portal keeps you in close contact with your colleagues

Perhaps you’re operating a small office, or you have a few major clients for your freelance gig. Sometimes a giant back-and-forth email thread isn’t the most efficient way to get things done. Whether you’re separated by a few streets—or more than a few time zones, you can stay in touch just like you would in a face-to-face meeting by using Facebook Portal. As long as they’ve got Facebook Messenger or WhatsApp, they can link up for video calls, and you’ll be working like never before.

Facebook Portal is also great for keeping in touch with family and friends

Lots of people love Facebook Portal because they can make live video calls to friends and family, display their photos, and more. With more families and friends in different places around the globe, it’s more important than ever to stay in touch. So pop online just to say hi to your best friend, or read stories to your nieces, nephews, or grandchildren. And when you’re not using the device, Facebook Portal has a feature so it can double as a picture frame to display all your favourite Facebook and Instagram photos. How great is that?

How to enter

Entering this contest is easy, but you can only enter once. First, read our reviews of Facebook Portal and Facebook Portal Mini, and our review of Facebook Portal TV. Then, in a comment on this article, tell us one feature you love about Facebook Portal and who you’ll be keeping in contact with the most.

What you can win

At the end of the contest, we’ll select one winner to receive a Portal bundle that includes one Facebook Portal, one Facebook Portal Mini, and one Facebook Portal TV. Keep one for yourself and send the others to the people you want or need to keep in contact with most.

This contest runs from March 31st to April 16th.

Remember, you can only enter once, but you probably know someone else who would love to see the smiling faces of their colleagues, family, and friends all the time. Let them know about this contest so they too have a chance to win—and make their day!

  1. The auto-focus feature seems neat, especially if you can walk around and it’ll automatically adjust the depth – seems idiot-proof haha, especially if it’s used with my gramps

  2. I really like the Portal’s privacy feature because it’ll take me time to start trusting Facebook in my living room.

  3. I really like the video calling. Great to keep in contact with family and friends, especially now with the health issues in the world.

  4. I love video calling, it’s the best way to keep up with my far flung family members 🙂

  5. I love the video calling and I would use it to talk with my mom. She has dementia and it is nice doing a video call with her as sometimes she doesn’t talk alot. To be able to see her is a huge bonus.

  6. Watching movies together with family that are far away that is super cool. Now this is a brilliant move by BestBuy at this STRESSFUL time, bringing family together! I could send one to my daughter and one to my brother in Alberta to keep intouch! Thanks BestBuy.com

  7. I love the video calling, I would use it to chat with my dad who is almost 80 and self isolating. He is lonely and scared and would really appreciate seeing our faces, especially his two grand kids.

  8. I would definitely keep more in touch with my daughter that I haven seen in over a month and my sister who is an RN testing people with COVID in Toronto and my family in Montreal .. it’s camera would be so much better for connection to have us all on the same feature as we miss everyone texting isn’t not the same as a group discussion…and our friends we have tried through face time and reception not good this would be a blessing to keep in touch with everyone

  9. I love the video calling. Easy to use and the smart camera that keeps you in frame. I’d love this to keep in touch with my
Mom. The kids would love to be able to see grandma using this. Thanks for the chance

  10. In a Facebook Portal TV, I like the great feature that it has the ability to make video calls to far-away family and friends via Facebook Messenger or WhatsApp and see the people we’re talking to in larger than life form. I’d look forward to using this to keep in touch with my daughter who lives in Korea.

  11. I love the Smart camera and I would use it to keep in touch with my parents. I am an ER nurse and they are elderly so distancing is essential. This would be a lovely way to reassure my mom.

  12. I love that it’s so easy to share photos with friends and family! I’ll use it to connect with my sister the most.

  13. I like Superframe. It makes the Portal as much of a practical object as a decorative one, so it’s never just a thing sitting around. I would be staying in touch with friends across the Province.

  14. I love the Story Time feature for kids which brings classic children’s tales to life through augmented reality and inserts you right into the middle of them. My son would love this feature, too! My family and I would use Facebook Portal to keep in touch with family members who live out of province and our daughter who lives out of country.

  15. SMart screen would be great! So few pictures get printed now seeing them scroll by would be nice.

  16. This Is the first time that I’m hearing about this product and all I can say is “wow, what an amazing idea engineered!”

I would absolutely love to own one of these devices for sure and would make great use of it. I would definitely be in contact with my 6 year old daughter who has been living in my hometown with my mother for ever since she was 4 months old=( I miss her so much everyday and I barely get to talk to her mainly cuz she doesnt really know me due to my mom not taking her to visit me as often as I would like and it gets pretty depressing. If each of us (my mom & daughter and myself) owned one of these portals each, then I know for sure that there would be way more video calls and she would enjoy talking to me more cuz she can see me as if I were right there in the room with her and it would be a lot more fun for her and me both. The feature where I can be a character in the storytelling for kids is out of this world so cool and she would live that so much. It sounds like an awesome and very fun device to have and I know me and my daughter would benefit alot if we were to have one and definitely would be making of good use with it as well as getting to know each other alot better.

  17. I love the Smart Camera. I would use it to stay connected with my eldest daughter and the rest of our family that we do not regularly see.

  18. I love that Amazon Alexa is built into the Facebook Portal. I would use it to have conversations with my girlfriend everyday, who lives two hours away from me.

  19. I would keep in contact with my parents, especially now with the Convid situation. I also love the Superframe feature to display all my photos.

  20. Love that it can be used as a picture frame too! I live far from my family and miss them. I’d probably be keeping in contact with them the most.

  21. The video call would be great…..would be nice so I could be in touch with family in Alberta

  22. I love that they offer access to Alexa! I’d use this to keep in contact with my best friend in Australia.
