father's day.jpgI was never a very imaginative Father’s Day gift-buyer when I was a kid. It was either some cheap cologne that probably burned my dad’s face after he shaved, a loud tie he never would dare wear in public without a clown nose, or a bottle opener set (he must have thought I considered him a heavy drinker or something). However, you don’t have to end up giving lame Father’s Day gifts this year, thanks to my recommendations for the most stereotypical gifts to buy your dad on Father’s Day.

Wallet (250x250).jpgA Place for His Cash and Cards

There’s nothing more “Dad” than a nice wallet. A man needs a place to keep his cash and credit cards, and the black Mancini COLLEGIATE Men’s Leather RFID Passcase Wallet is the perfect upgrade to dad’s current tattered old thing that’s held together with a rubber band. This one boasts the latest in RFID wave blocking technology to keep your identity safe from thieves, plus it’s made from cowhide leather and comes in a fancy gift box. It’s certainly a good upgrade from a loud tie. It also says, “Hey, dad, I really appreciate you being my personal ATM all those years in college.”

Philips rasor (250x250).jpgA Close Shave

What could be more stereotypically male than shaving? We have to do it every day, and most of us would love a more convenient and comfortable way to get through the ritual. The Philips Series 7000 Wet & Dry Cordless Rotary Shaver is that, convenient and comfortable. It has precision blades, and dynamic flex technology for an even and smooth shave, that’s comfortable for those with sensitive skin, as well. It gives you 60-minutes of shaving on one single power charge, and it comes in a handy travel case. It says, “Hey, dad, you shouldn’t have a hipster beard at your age.”

Bulova Watch.jpgA Matter of Time

A watch, for any occasion, is a super classy gift. I know everyone has a smartphone these days, so watches are becoming somewhat obsolete (until that Dick Tracey-esque real smartwatch comes out), but there’s just something classic about a good men’s watch. The Bulova Men’s Analog Sport Watch combines the athletic good looks of a sport watch, with the versatile flare of a dress watch. The analog watch features a chronograph with stopwatch capabilities, and a stainless steel case and band. It is also water resistant to 30m, and has a blue dial with luminous hands that offer visibility in low light.

Fitbit (250x250).jpg

For the Sporty Dad

If your father is the type that likes to get up at the break of dawn and run 15km before drinking a kale and quinoa soy milkshake, then maybe he’d like a different kind of watch. The Fitbit Charge HR Fitness Tracker is a great wristband tracker that automatically monitors heart rate, tracks real-time stats and measures your athletic progress. For the fitness-minded father it tracks steps taken, stairs climbed, distance travelled, active minutes, and calories burned. It also synchs with your smartphone for alerts to get incoming call and text notifications, and gets five days of power from a single charge.

GPS (250x250).jpg

On the Road Again

Another stereotype of fathers is that they never ask for directions when lost. I can attest to that being a bonafide fact. My dad never asked for directions, and we ended up in some weird places, thanks to his refusal to admit we were ever lost. You can prevent that from ever happening again, with the Garmin Nuvi 5″ GPS. This electronic navigator features include spoken turn-by-turn directions, preloaded maps, speed limit displays, and lane assistance, plus It comes with a suction mount and a ventlock mount. It also offers free lifetime updates, with the most up-to-date maps, points-of-interest and navigation information readily available.

Deadpool (250x250).jpgFor the Geek Dad

Action movies: Every dad loves ‘em. They also love super heroes. So, why not give dad a rollicking good R-Rated time with the Deadpool (4K Ultra HD) (Blu-ray Combo)? This is the superhero movie that broke box office records, and was as violent, gory, dark and humorous as fans of the comic book hoped it would be. The movie stars Vancouver-born Ryan Reynolds as a mercenary who gets horribly disfigured during experiments that make him super powered, and he goes on a revenge-fuelled killing spree. It’s a lot of fun and true to the fourth-wall-breaking hero Marvel fans have come to love.

Throne.jpegAnd a Throne to Watch it Upon

Yet another stereotype of dads is that they are couch potatoes that like to veg in front of the tube all night. Think Homer Simpson, or Archie Bunker, sitting in an easy chair in front of the TV watching the game. Hey, forget the stereotype, every guy likes to perch himself in a comfy chair and watch the game or a good old R-Rated superhero action movie, and your dad is no different. So, treat him to what I would consider the ultimate TV room throne, the HomCom Luxury Leather Massage Sofa Adjustable Recliner Chair Armchair. This thing has five professional massage modes, heated nodes, and multi-lever recliner options. It`s also got cup holders and storage space for the remotes. It`s a luxury, leather-clad way to tell your dad to sit back, relax, and enjoy being and adored father.

Or I guess you could just ignore my recommendations for the most stereotypical gifts to buy your dad on Father’s Day, and just buy him a tacky tie… it’s your call. Maybe your dad loves ties. Who knows? So, what do you think of my choices? What would you recommend as a stereotypical gift for Father’s Day? Let me know in the comments section.
