My daughter recently bought a monitor and I offered to send her a Roku streaming stick so she could watch movies on it in her apartment. I believe the M7 would be preferred as a TV/monitor in a dorm room. Larger screen for productivity and a bigger picture in TV mode. Although M7 uses more power 150W vs M5 at 60W.
M5 for the size
Both monitors have the detachable SlimFit camera which supports video calling, video streaming, and more over video calling apps like Google Duo which would help students with their project work teams and such like. So BOTH are good but perhaps the smaller M5 is better for a student because they’re usually living at home or in dorms so not much room.

M7 for the larger screen size because its more productive I think
I think the M7 32 inch size is good while working on school project, give you better view. Plus it can be use just like a smart TV

I think the M5 would be best for a student – hear me out because I see everyone picking the M7. Living in residence back in the day I remember how small my room and desk was. A massive monitor would absolutely not have fit. Now I know not everyone lives in res but I just think the smaller size (which is still large btw) is better for a student.
