In case you didn’t notice, tablets are here to stay. They’re perfect for swiping through magazines, watching videos or checking up on your email. Of course, if you already have a tablet, you’re nodding your head impatiently because you already know this.
Well, if you already have a tablet—or know friends and family who do—now’s a great time to add some essential accessories to your cart. These tablet add-ons will take your tablet to the next level and make a great gift.
Tablet Covers and Cases
A case or cover is probably the first accessory you should get for any tablet owner. Not only does it offer protection, but many tablet covers are super stylish and have a few extra features designed into its DNA.
For iPad Pro owners, Apple recently launched a Pro Smart Cover for the tablet. It’s made from polyurethane and expertly fits the sleek design of the tablet. Even better, it wakes up the tablet when the cover is opened and puts it to sleep when it’s closed.
For the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2, Griffin’s Survivor Slim Rugged Case might be a great fit for anyone who wants a little extra protection. Made from a tough silicone jacket, the case will protect your S2 from drops, scratches and anything else it may encounter.
Tablet Keyboards
Typing on a touchscreen is great when you don’t have much to say. But, if you’re ready to send Grandma a big family update or get started on your first screenplay, a keyboard might be nice addition.
Logitech Keys-to-Go iPad Keyboard connects to an iPad via Bluetooth. Its rechargeable battery lasts up to three months and its slim design means you can easily stash it in a bag or purse.
For something a little more novel, check out Mmnox Bluetooth Laser Keyboard. It connects to nearly any Bluetooth-enabled device and projects a keyboard onto any flat surface. It’s super light and compact, and gives you an easy conversation starter when you’re working at your local coffee shop or library.
Tablet Stands
Many cases act as mini stands when you need to prop your tablet up on a table or on your lap. However, there are lots of situations when you need something a little more professional—that wedding you’re going to MC or that big work presentation you have next week.
The IK Multimedia iKlip Xpand Universa Mic Stand Mount is a bit of a mouthful to say, but it will keep your tablet front and centre if you’re speaking or performing with a mic stand. The Joy Factory Unite Universal Tablet Desk Stand does exactly what its name suggests—it keeps your tablet secure on any table or flat surface, using lightweight carbon fibre making it easy to bring with you on the road.
Tablet Pens
If you’re more sophisticated than I am—which you probably are—you might call these tablet styluses. But, I just call them tablet pens.
The Microsoft Surface Pen 2 allows you to write, draw and markup documents. With one click it will open a OneNote page and it can even convert your written notes to text. And the Adonit Jot Script 2, which is compatible with iPads, brings the feel of pen and paper to your tablet experience. It also comes with six months of Evernote Premium.
