What should you look for when buying a dash cam like the many offered by Nextbase? Perhaps you want some protection for you and your family while driving at the lowest price. What are you looking for in a dash cam?

I personally don’t own a dash cam. It’s not that I don’t care about the advantages they offer, I just haven’t got around to buying one yet. But if I was, I would want something in the middle of the Nextbase series: probably a 322GW or 422GW. Perhaps it’s that the review done by Dave Neufeld was extremely persuasive? Or somehow it resonated with me in a way the other Nextbase articles have not. After all, I think all the writers did a great job examining the different models and clearly explaining what they liked and did not like about each: pros and cons. I think what is more likely is that I just like the 422GW most because I feel it’s right for me in a way that I can’t quite explain.

Nextbase keeps raising the bar on what a dash cam can do

Not that I am averse to perfection. I have not seen the new model that was just announced today, the 622GW; nor have I sent it for review—Nextbase haven’t sent me samples yet. But judging from the specifications and features, it is a step above the rest. The features include an impressively clear 4K image at 30 fps, image stabilization, and Amazon Alexa built in. I love that if you are involved in an accident, this dash cam will register the most recent footage as high priority and not let it get recorded over.

So, now your options are bigger. Of course, if you win one of the five prizes in this contest, which include a 122, 222, 322GW, 422GW, and 522GW models, then you can learn from experience what you want in a dash cam. First though, you will need to think about which one has the features you need.

  5. Among the features of the Nextbase 622GW that stand out are the image stabilization and the rear cam. I’m also glad to see the wireless connectivity options too.

  7. I am going with the 522 GW as I love the Intelligent Parking Mode .. so many things to consider..but I will definitely be getting a Dash Cam this fall.

  8. I particularly like the safety features included such as SOS and 911 in the camera. Also, defogging algorithms used in the system is just amazing. I wish to win Nextbase 522 dashcam.

  9. I like the 522GW’s Intelligent Parking Mode so that I can see if someone is messing with my car when it’s parked. Also, I like the Rear View Module support so that I can get rear view coverage too.

  14. G-sensor to detect impacts with at least 1080p at 60fps so 322GW would suffice, but I wouldn’t turn down the new 633GW either 🙂

  18. Nextbase 622GW 4K Dash Cam is an impressive Dashcam with lots feature embedded especially detailed image quality.

  24. If I were to choose. It would be the 622GW and or the 633 because of its enhanced night vision. Day time driving with almost all dashcam it wont be an issue and clarity is there already. Cameras records using light balance and most dashcam provides that already. It’s the night vision that’s the game changer. A dashcam with a good night vision to capture the finest detail is what’s make the dashcam worth while. A good example is those grainy blurry night shots of car accidents. It’s eye cringing to see and won’t help your case if you get into a motor vehicle accident. But having a clear video shot in low light. That will certainly make a huge impact.

    This is from experience. I was involved in a MVA at night and my old dashcam did all the talking for me. Police sided with no fault for me after reviewing the footage and what was cool is the police asked what dashcam I used and how is it possible for the camera to capture clarity in such low light. Can see the person’s face saying “oh sh*t!! ” As he caused the accident.

  25. Definitely want a good recording quality and have night vision feature The Nextbase 622GW would be ideal to have.

  28. One needs a dash cam to carefully record details on the road and inside the car. It is the best proof one has for defending themselves in the event of an accident. If I am to purchase a dash cam today, I want it to have features such as loop recording and auto start, GPS and speed logging, impact detection and event tagging, a parking mode that monitors the car while I am away and a night mode to record during poor light conditions. The Nextbase 522GW is definitely my favourite model as it has all the aforementioned features in a dash cam. Although it has a premium price point, there is no price one can put on their personal safety.

  31. I would definitely need the 622GW for the 4K and the night vision. The more detail the better especially if someone hits your car at night and takes off!

    322 have the function and reasonable price, so I would pick that one

  40. Front and rear support would be something that I definitely need in a dash cam system. From what I can see, only the 322 series and up offers this kind of support! The 322 seems like a decent model, that is cheap enough to achieve what I want, though the 1440p of the 422 or the 522 are definitely a plus as well!

  42. For a dash cam, it needs to withstand cold/hot temperatures. Secondly a dash cam should loop recording ( automatically re-record over older footage if the SD card is filled up). A dashcam must have night vision capabilities at least 1080p, 60fps. For that reason, Nextbase 522GW would be my favorite

  43. The features I would absolutely need in a dash cam is a clear, wide, high resolution video, and which the Nextbase model that is therefore my favourite is the 422GW model.

  47. The ability of the 622GW to link to my phone is a great feature; much better than using a cable or removing the memory chip.

  48. Living outside of Winnipeg in a rural community, the enhanced night vision would be a must, so the 622GW would definitely be my choice.

  49. I like the intelligent parking mode to catch fender benders in the parking lot and so would be happy with the 422GW model.

  50. I would go with the 422 GW for the Rear View Module that can be add to it for a almost 360° experience
