Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster

On July 1st, Capcom showcased its upcoming video games at the Capcom Next Summer 2024 event. The company provided exclusive footage of Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess. We also received updates on Resident Evil 7 Biohazard, Ace Attorney Investigations Collection, and Dragon’s Dogma 2. But the big announcement was for Dead Rising. Here are the details.

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster

After its announcement last week, it was during the Capcom Next Summer 2024 event that we saw what Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster will look like. Scheduled to release this fall, the crazy action game makes a grand return for current generation consoles. This was the main game of the presentation, and rightly so! Dead Rising is known for its unlikely storyline, the massive number of zombies to fight, and the multitude of objects Frank West can use to dispose of them.

For a bit of background, Frank West is a photojournalist. Hearing about a strange supernatural case happening in Colorado, he heads to Willamette. There, he finds himself in the middle of a zombie invasion. He has seventy-two hours to uncover the truth behind the disaster.

While the number of zombies present was a priority, graphics were secondary during the game’s original design in 2006. For Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, the team now has the tools to improve the game while preserving the elements that have made this iconic franchise. In an interview, the developers noted that although they could have changed it, they chose to keep Frank’s quirky appearance. However, that didn’t stop them from reworking the mall’s lighting and updating the characters’ appearances.

Enhanced gameplay mechanics

In this new iteration, Frank can now aim while walking, which he couldn’t do in the original game. Photo filters will be available to our photojournalist to capture the best shots during his investigation. Secondary characters will also have spoken dialogue lines and smoother movements. This remastered version will feature a soundtrack localized in nine languages. It will also have subtitles in fourteen languages, all to bring the story to a broader audience.

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster will be released on September 19th in digital edition for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. A physical edition will be available next November.

Demo available for Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess

While the game was announced last year, Capcom Next Summer 2024 highlighted the release of the demo for Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess. It is now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Furthermore, a collaboration with the game Okami allows players to obtain costumes and weapons inspired by the 2006 game. The demo even includes theme music. Capcom mentioned that if players cooperate by July 19th, these items will be included in the final version of the game. For this to happen, all players trying the demo need to accumulate a billion crystals and find the fifteen “Lucky Cases”.

Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is a game combining action and real-time strategy. The story unfolds in a world inspired by Japanese culture. It narrates the epic confrontation between the realm of spirits and mortals as villagers fight to purify the sacred mountain on which they live. Hideous creatures known as the Damned have besieged the mountain, drawn by the corruption that’s spread to the nearby villages. To purify the land and drive them away, the spiritual guardian must perform a purification rite, but she needs a guide to pave the way.

Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess will be released on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC on July 19th.

A few updates on Capcom’s games

Before the official start of the presentation, Capcom provided updates on its current franchises. We saw footage of the upcoming Ace Attorney compilation revealed earlier this year. It will support six languages and feature a revamped soundtrack. Ace Attorney Investigations Collection is slated for September 6th. Personally, I’m thrilled, especially since the second game in the compilation has never been released on this side of the globe.

Outside of Capcom Next Summer 2024, fans can enjoy two free hours of Dragon’s Dogma 2. The progress made during this trial can be carried over to the full game. Many games offer this trial method to help players get a feel for them before purchasing. I often use it to decide. Given the scale of this title, it allows you to create your hero and main companion via the character creation tool. Then, you won’t have to redo everything when you start your official game.

Finally, for horror fans, Resident Evil 7 Biohazard is coming to Apple devices. Starting July 2nd, the game is available on iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Owners of iPads and Macs with an M1 chip or newer will also be able to play Resident Evil 7 Biohazard. The controls have been reworked to provide an enjoyable experience. Those who attach a controller to their device will have an advantage. However, menus such as the inventory are accessible through touch. Very practical!

Capcom announces releases for the coming year

As presented, fans will be excited to reunite with Frank West in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster this fall. I loved the original game, so I’m very eager to see how current players will receive it. The Capcom Next Summer 2024 presentation also revealed new footage of Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, with the demo now available. Only three short weeks before its official release on July 19th. As for me, I’m looking forward to the new Ace Attorney. Did some titles catch your attention? Feel free to let us know in the comments below!
