Parties are good for your overall health

I’m no doctor, and although I’ve seen my share of TED Talks, I’ll ask you to please take my findings with a grain of salt. But in my 32 years on this planet, one thing seems more and more evident: A happy life = better health. Now, there are a multitude of components that comprise a happy life, but the more I read the literature and watch the videos, I’m convinced that one event combines more than a couple of these components: a party. My definition of party, by the way, is two or more people coming together for the purpose of enjoying food, entertainment, and each other’s company. I’m not just talking about a 20-hour group rager, although I don’t disapprove of those kinds of get-togethers either (in moderation.)

Here’s why I believe parties are good for your health:

  1. Social: Loneliness creates mental health issues and impacts longevity. A party isn’t just about letting loose, it’s a ritual of belonging: people come together to connect with and be a part of their community.
  2. Music: Music changes your perspective and transforms your mood. It improves your blood circulation and lowers your levels of stress-related hormones, such as cortisol. Music also strengthens emotional regulation and promotes benefits in attention and memory.
  3. Dancing: Not just a great cardiovascular workout, dancing is like a visit to the gym—but fun! Dancing strengthens bones and muscles, improves balance, and even staves off illnesses. You don’t have to be a phenomenal dancer to reap the benefits, you just have to move your body to the beat!
A good party doesn’t have to incorporate all three of these components, but a great party usually does. All you need is a select soundtrack and a speaker that pumps out the playlists with enough power to do each song justice. That’s where Charge 4 enters the narrative.

  1. Music is the most important thing for sure. Even if your not dancing, music can elevate your mood which is key to happiness. The JBL Charge 4 would enhance my music experience with the built in power bank because with that feature my phone wouldn’t die and i could listen to music longer!

  2. MUSIC. I love music and I also like to relax on my deck in the summer BUT I have no way of having music out there because I don’t have any speakers. If I had this JBL Charge 4 I could plug it into my phone and hear music on a quality speaker. I don’t like earphones or ear buds, so this speaker would be perfect. Thank you for the chance to win!

We try to make it super fun by having glow stick “wave” parties, ribbon dancing, and just good ol free style dancing.
