Parties are good for your overall health

I’m no doctor, and although I’ve seen my share of TED Talks, I’ll ask you to please take my findings with a grain of salt. But in my 32 years on this planet, one thing seems more and more evident: A happy life = better health. Now, there are a multitude of components that comprise a happy life, but the more I read the literature and watch the videos, I’m convinced that one event combines more than a couple of these components: a party. My definition of party, by the way, is two or more people coming together for the purpose of enjoying food, entertainment, and each other’s company. I’m not just talking about a 20-hour group rager, although I don’t disapprove of those kinds of get-togethers either (in moderation.)

Here’s why I believe parties are good for your health:

  1. Social: Loneliness creates mental health issues and impacts longevity. A party isn’t just about letting loose, it’s a ritual of belonging: people come together to connect with and be a part of their community.
  2. Music: Music changes your perspective and transforms your mood. It improves your blood circulation and lowers your levels of stress-related hormones, such as cortisol. Music also strengthens emotional regulation and promotes benefits in attention and memory.
  3. Dancing: Not just a great cardiovascular workout, dancing is like a visit to the gym—but fun! Dancing strengthens bones and muscles, improves balance, and even staves off illnesses. You don’t have to be a phenomenal dancer to reap the benefits, you just have to move your body to the beat!
A good party doesn’t have to incorporate all three of these components, but a great party usually does. All you need is a select soundtrack and a speaker that pumps out the playlists with enough power to do each song justice. That’s where Charge 4 enters the narrative.

  2. Music. I work in a Long Term Care (Geriatric) setting. I love using music to bring joy to our residents when able!

  4. Social is the most important component to me. The way the JBL Charge 4 can enhance my social life is that I can not only play my own music easily, but get others to Bluetooth connect to my device quickly to share a playlist that they enjoy more, in case mine doesn’t liven up the party.

    My daughter has a really hard time walking and running her legs are pointed in as well as her feet, so she doesn’t like to move very much to say the least. The drs say that its very important that she true to walk as much as possible so as she gets older it will be easier for her, well she just wouldn’t budge it was very upsetting for me and I didnt know really what to do.
    My son was playing music on his iPad one day (Justin bieber -sorry) and my son yells to me and says mommy Gracie’s dancing, I looked over and she was standing 1 HSN holding the table dancing her little butt off and then my son started dancing around and then she let go and began to follow my son dancing around. With just a few falls she got back up and kept going, brought big tears to my eyes I was so happy!!! So every time we wanna get her up and moving we just put on some Justin bieber and she starts moving.

  21. While this unit would be great for music, we have a projector and connecting this to the projector would allow us to play movies outside without having to bring out big boom boxes for the sound.
