After pausing for the holidays, Jaybird is back to releasing new wireless earphones. The company was on a streak through the end of 2018, with the X4s, followed by the all-new Tarah and Tarah Pro wireless earbuds. Now it’s launching the second generation of its popular RUN true wireless sport earbuds, the Jaybird RUN XT. And you can pre-order them now at Best Buy!
Here’s everything you need to know about the latest addition to the Jaybird lineup, the RUN XT true wireless sport earbuds.
True wireless with a total of 12 hours of battery life
Jaybird’s earphones are all wireless, but the RUN and now RUN XT are the only true wireless models. That means no wires whatsoever—not even a cable to connect the buds—so nothing gets in the way of your activity. You can also wear a hat or glasses without having to fuss with positioning.
The RUN XT earbuds can go for up to four hours on a charge, and their charge case has enough power for two full changes. That’s a total of 12 hours of battery life before you need to worry about finding an electrical outlet. The charge case is small enough to slip in a pocket and quick charge support means just five minutes in the case gets you a full hour of music playback.
Comfortable and secure fit
Jaybird earbuds are very popular with athletes and fitness fans for a number of reasons. One of the biggest is fit. I’ve lost count of how many different earbuds I’ve tested, from dozens of manufacturers, and none can top Jaybird when it comes to a comfortable and secure fit. They stay firmly in place during activity and you can almost forget the buds are even there.
The RUN XT earbuds come with a variety of interchangeable ear tips and fins to ensure a customized fit for virtually anyone.
IPX7 waterproof
The single biggest improvement over the original RUN earbuds is a dramatic improvement in water resistance. The Jaybird RUN XT earbuds have an IPX 7 waterproof rating. That means they can survive being submerged in 1 metre of water. It’s not likely that you’re going to accidentally drop your earbuds in a pool, but that level of water resistance means you can wear them in the pouring rain (or snow) without a second thought. And it doesn’t matter how strenuous your workout is, exposure to sweat is a non-issue.
Premium audio, digital assistant support
You can use these earbuds to take voice calls, and with one touch you can opt to use your choice of virtual assistant—Siri or Google Assistant—for music control.
One of the great benefits of Jaybird earbuds is Jaybird’s mobile app. It lets you completely customize the sound of the RUN XT earbuds, using presets or the EQ. Jaybird earbuds are known for delivering premium quality audio, and the customization makes it even better.
I reviewed the original Jaybird RUN earbuds when they first came out, and those were pretty solid. But the RUN XTs look like a real improvement over the originals, especially with that IPX7 waterproof rating.
I’m currently testing a pair of the new Jaybird RUN XT earbuds, so look for my review soon. If you can’t wait to read about them, remember you can pre-order now from Best Buy and get them as soon as February 8.
These headphones would be a great asset for my daily 1.25 hr. walk through parkland.
