LG-88-inch-OLED-TV CES 2019

LG hit it out of the park at CES 2019. They kicked things off with their 65-inch OLED panel TV that’s flexible enough to roll into itself, and kept the party going with the LG Home Brew system. If you’ve only got 5 minutes to take in what happened with LG at CES 2019, here’s a quick roundup.

LG Rollable OLED TV

It came out as a prototype last year and this year it’s a reality: the LG 65-inch OLED panel TV that’s flexible enough to roll into itself will be available soon.

How does it work? The TV settles inside a rectangular base that mechanically rolls up and unrolls the display. The box it rolls into is also a standalone speaker, and you can use it to stream music even if you don’t want to watch TV.

This amazing display is smart too: it works with Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, and Apple Airplay 2. There are three viewing modes including a Frame mode that displays your family photos.

For more on this TV, check out Ted’s post. He also announced that LG is bringing an 8K TV to life, so check out the details on that one.

LG TWINWash and the LG Styler

If you do a lot of laundry every week, you’re going to want to keep watch for when LG releases the LG TWINWash washer and dryer. This 27-inch front load washer and Dual Inverter Heat Pump dryer offer you intelligent technology. It senses what’s in your load and customizes your drying options. You get an Auto Cleaning Condenser to keep your dryer lint free, and a washing machine capacity to wash a full king size comforter and set of sheets, all at once.

The LG TWINWash washer and dryer also works with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, so you’ll be able to issue voice commands, use the LG app to turn your washing machine off and on, or receive a notification when your load is complete.

Check out my post to get the full details on the LG TWINWash washer and dryer. There’s also information on the LG Styler, a really amazing closet that steams the germs off your clothes and keeps them wrinkle free while they hang.

LG HomeBrew brews up beer as easily as making a cup of coffee

LG-HomeBrew-CES-2019

I love big screen TVs, but the LG Home Brew is the LG reveal I was most excited about. I grow hops on my farm, and the idea of having a home system to brew beer is really interesting.

According to LG, brewing beer in your kitchen will soon be as easy as making a pot of coffee. The LG HomeBrew will use a capsule, much like a coffee pod for a single brewer. Each capsule will contain yeast, hops, and malt. When you want to brew beer you just add a capsule, press a button, and your HomeBrew takes over.

Every single part of the beer making process is completed within the machine. If you’ve ever brewed beer you know the fermentation and aging process can be kind of picky, but you won’t even have to think about it with this system. There’s also an app that gives you status updates for your beer and lets you know when it’s complete. It takes two weeks, and when it’s done you can pour yourself a glass straight from your LG HomeBrew.

You get 10.5 pints of beer with every batch, and you can make several different kinds of beer including Pale Ale, IPA, and Stout.

The only question I have about this system is, can we use our own hops? The LG HomeBrew isn’t available yet, but when it is I hope they add a ‘use your own’ capsule option.

What’s your favourite reveal from LG? You can visit LG on Best Buy right now, and keep an eye out for more coverage from CES 2019.
