You can choose to mount it to create a designated theatre room, or you can keep it mobile so one day it’s in the living room for a movie, the next day in the basement for gaming, or in the kids room for a sleep over. How amazing is the BenQ 4K projector

This is probably something that many people are wondering. We asked Erin Lawrence, Editor of Home Theatre on the blog and also a veteran of television news with CTV in Calgary, to try this projector and give us her honest opinion.

In her written review and video review, Erin highly endorsed this projector. Here are some of the highlights of her review:

  1. The picture was amazing, despite her not having a white wall or a projection screen as a backdrop. (She actually projected it onto a blue wall and still she thought the image was great!)
  2. The image was bright, clear and showed accurate, crisp colours, even when the room was brightly lit.
  3. The fan (something that used to drive me crazy on an older projector I once had in my home) was barely noticeable and did not take away from the enjoyment of using this projector.

She also pointed out some of the things that people will consider adding to their home to make the experience even better.

How would you improve your own home theatre experience

Okay so let’s just suppose that you were the winner of this contest. Picture that! Where will you place it in your home? Would you mount it on the ceiling, or keep it mobile so you can move it from room to room?

Importantly, what technology would you need to make the home theatre experience truly complete? I’m not talking about a popcorn maker: that’s a given! Would you be looking to add a projection screen, or would you just choose a white wall (or paint a wall white for this best results). Would you look at getting a surround sound or ATMOS system ?Erin said that the sound from the projector is okay, but your home theatre would be much better with great home theatre audio. Would you add a 4K blu-ray player and start collecting a library of 4K movies to show on this 4K projector?

There are so many possibilities, and I didn’t even talk about home theatre seating. What would you consider adding to your home if you win this amazing projector?

  8. I would love to win the BenQ projector and set up my family room with a drop down big screen and some comfy reclining seats for lots of great family movie nights!!! This is amazing!

  11. I’d have to add big sound to fill out the big screen experience. It would be a great start to a home theatre.

  13. The first thing that I would do is mount that nice 4K quality projector to my ceiling. I would then hook it up with my fantastic surround sound system. Add a few relaxing recliners, maybe even a custom built coffee table that keeps your drinks cold and your pizza hot! Also little light strips along the base of the wall so when the rooms dim, no-one will fall. I could invite my friends and family over to watch some Olympic hockey!

WOW what would I need, leather recliners (2 rows for the whole family 4 in total) A surround sound system or bar ( either will work I’m not picky), I would also think a professional popcorn machine would be a must (The girls adore, I mean decour their fair share of popcorn). Now this is a must but I would love a library of Marvel movies, the whole family loves Antman,Thor, and Iron Man (Loki is our favorite here). The last thing we would ever need is to give everyone at Bestbuy’s blog a very big thank you, I always peruse the blog reviews to help in making my purchases.

  19. I would definitely invest in a great speaker system, some comfy lounging couches/ recliners, and snacks, lots of movie watching snacks, maybe a mini fridge for convenience.

  26. We have a perfect wall in our rec room for this projector. We would definitely have to get some really good speakers, surround sound would be great, to go with the projector.

  30. I would use a white bed sheet and use the projector to watch movies in the backyard or play Street Fighter!

  33. A popcorn maker would be such a fun addition as well. I can visualize friends and family enjoying movies on a big screen!

  34. If I won a projector, I would deck out my new “theatre room” with a remote controlled screen to come down from the ceiling, reclining chairs and side tables for easy access snacks, wireless surround sound and cozy blankies for the movie watching experience 🙂

  35. I would definitely add a couple LaZ-boy recliners, some Dolby digital surround sound speakers, & a beer fridge within arms reach to complete the set up.

  37. I would add a bar to make drinks and some quick snacks and comfy seats (bean bag chairs, couple of couches) to make the seating comfortable!

  39. Theatre Seating would be nice but I think that I would rather go with maybe four Electric Plus Recling Chairs!

  47. I’d definitely add a new couch and sound system to create a new home theatre. This BenQ 4k projector would be the centerpiece!

  48. I would add a home theatre sound system since it wouldn’t make sense to have such a nice projector without decent sound. I’d also get some cool led lighting for ambiance.. something I’ve been meaning to do anyways for a while.

  49. If I won the BenQ 4K Projector I would like to keep it mobile so I could hold events in my backyard or at the local school or anywhere really! I think I would find many uses for it……the possibilities are endless
