Have you ever noticed how versatile the popular LEGO toy brand has become over the years? With numerous themed building block sets currently available, I’d say that LEGO is pretty much tied in with everything these days! With this in mind, I thought that today I’d take a look at several LEGO sets that specifically have movie related themes. There are some really cool sets available, so click on through to see LEGO sets related to Star Wars, The Lord of the Rings, The LEGO Movie itself, and more. After all, it’s all about having fun!

The first set that I personally wanted to learn more about was the LEGO Star Wars: AT-AT Set (with 1137 total Pieces). Who could forget the regal Imperial Walkers marching doggedly toward the Rebel base on the remote ice world of Hoth—each frightful walker a mechanized Trojan horse? Well now you can own your very own LEGO Imperial Walker! This 1100+ piece set is good for hours of assembling fun and a lifetime of subsequent play and display action. I chose this set in particular as a huge fan of Star Wars and the many imaginative vehicles and space ships that serve on both sides of the battle. This set also includes a number of classic LEGO men serving as the following Star Wars Characters: “AT-AT Driver, General Veers, Snowtrooper Commander, and two Snowtrooper mini figures.” Recreate the battle in your own home with the unstoppable combination of LEGO and Star Wars! Recommended for kids from 9-14.

If you were a fan of the highly popular 2014 LEGO movie, then maybe you’ve already got some of the LEGO playsets that the film naturally spawned. If not, you may want to begin with the very cute LEGO Movie Cloud Cuckoo Palace! This 197 piece set provides just the right amount of LEGO building challenge without a hefty price. You’ll receive 3 LEGO men: Emmet, Wyldstyle, & Executron, as well as 2 LEGO animal figures: Unikitty and a funky little snail. The Palace itself is chock full of bright colours and pretty flowers, and the entire ensemble allows you to recreate the crazy movie scene in which Lord Business’ Executron tracks Emmet to Cloud Cookoo Land and tries to capture him. Watch out Emmet! This set is intended for those ages 7 to 14.

Then again, maybe you’re a Middle Earth kind of person?! If so, you’re sure to enjoy the LEGO The Hobbit: Dol Guldur Battle (with 797 Pieces)! I have to admit, I was never much of a Lord of the Rings fan, but I do love the look of this awesome Hobbit LEGO set! And that’s because this set includes all of the coolest characters and accessories from the Hobbit film franchise, such as “Gandalf the Grey, Radagast, Necromancer of Dol Guldur, Azog, & 2 Gundabad Orc mini figures,” as well as an awesome firing catapult, a club, 2 staffs, 3 swords, and 1 mace! If that’s not enough swag to do some genuine film recreation—LEGO style, then I don’t know what is! This being a larger and somewhat more complex set than, say, the LEGO Movie set above, it is meant for those aged 9-14.

Finally there’s yet another one of my personal favourites, the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Avengers: Age of Ultron Iron Man vs. Ultron. Of course I don’t yet know what will happen in the film, but I’ve always been a huge Iron Man fan and I just love the idea of a mini LEGO version of the character! The set features 92 total pieces and is small enough for your child (or yourself) to take it to grandma’s place, or a friend’s house, or anywhere else you’d like to pack it along to! It’s got a total of 4 mini LEGO figures: An Ultron Sentry Officer, 2 Ultron Sentries, & Iron Man himself, along with the Ultron Vehicle that has attachment points for those nasty bad guys. Overall I think that this is a really nice set to assemble and play with on a rainy afternoon (as 92 pieces shouldn’t be too difficult for most kids to put together in a relatively short time). This set is recommended for those ages 6-12 and for full-grown kids of all other ages as well!

Before I leave off, I’d just like to remind you that Best Buy has plenty of other great LEGO sets available that feature some of these very same movie themes. The Star Wars LEGO section alone has over 30 unique sets featuring some of the most memorable themes, characters, and vehicles from across the full Star Wars film franchise. Moreover, there’s plenty of other (as in non-movie related) LEGO & Building Toys available to choose from as well, with themes such as Chima, Mindstorms, and many more! If you weren’t already aware of some of this amazing information, maybe it’s time for you to rediscover LEGO!
