DJI drones are versatile for photography and really fun to fly. Their newest model, the DJI Mavic Air 2, can film in 4K at 60 frames per second! That is seriously amazing. It can reach amazing heights, speeds, and distances, so it’s much more than a toy. However, when used responsibly it elevates your senses—you’ll feel like you’re a bird in the sky! Read more about the newest drone in the DJI family, then enter for a chance to win the demo model that we had reviewed on the blog.

What can you do with a drone

A drone is more than just a flying camera. It does fly; and it has a camera. But fly a drone and suddenly you realize this is a very unique experience. First there is the feeling of lift-off—you’ll never forget that surge of excitement. Remember you are in control, elevating, tilting, drifting to the left and right. There is a learning curve, but it’s not steep; quickly you adjust your perspective to react appropriately to capture the bird’s eye view of your surroundings. If you are able to use it near your home, you’ll will gain a new appreciation for the world around you. For me, rising about ten metres above my house allowed me to capture a view of several gulf islands including Saltspring and Pender.

DJI packs their drones with amazing features

With the new DJI Mavic Air 2, you will be able to do so much more than you might think from the moment you turn it on. It is so easy to use. We sent the prize for this contest to Shelly to test it out and she was amazed that she instantly was able to capture smooth, professional looking videos, right out of the box. Watch her video to see some of the images of her farm taken with the drone.

Shelly shows what’s included with the drone, how to assemble the drone, and offers some tips on how to fly it. She also speaks to many of the unique features that enable you to do some really interesting things with simple menu selections. I love the Helix Quickshot function!

The Mavic Air 2 has many features to help you get the most from flying it. It can even help you find safe flying areas near your home. This is very important; you will want to be sure about what areas near you allow drones and if there are maximum height restrictions too. You should read Shelly’s article for a more in-depth descripton of some of the key features that she tested. Be sure to return to this page to learn what you need to do to enter our contest.

  4. Automatic takeoff and landing is very handy since I have never flown a drone before!! Can’t wait to use it on my hikes and capture some truly stunning landscapes!!

  5. Definitely looking forward to the obstacle avoidance feature as a less-confident flyer as well as the return home to feature for when the battery is at 20% because the most nerve wracking thing about flying a drone is losing it!

  6. Of the many features in the DJI Mavic Air 2, the features I am most eager to try are those that make flying easy, like the: Tap to Takeoff; the Automatic Flight Patterns – Boomerang, Helix, and Circle – as well as the built-in Advanced Pilot Assistance Systems and Landing light. I’m more of a photographer and amateur videographer than drone hobbyist – my attention is not always on flying the drone.

  7. I love that it It can help find safe flying areas near my home, as I don’t want to pay any fines.

  8. being able to film 4k at 60fps on a drone is nice gives you the opportunity to get some really nice shots

  9. Never tried a drone before. I love the automatic take-off and landing feature and the easy learning curve

  10. I’m looking forward to trying the 3-axis gimbal for the camera. I have the DJI Tello which takes great pictures, but having a stationary camera makes it difficult to get the shots you want

  11. This would be awesome to survey land with as a landscaper, love the real time display feedback! thanks for the giveaway!

  12. I am worried about getting it in the air so the auto take-off and auto-land features would make me feel safer about using it.

  13. I’d be most excited to witness a feature not mentioned – the ability this drone would have to make my dad smile from ear to ear once I gifted him with it!

  14. I’ve never tried to fly a drone before, but I think the automatic take-off and landing would help a lot.

  15. The obstacle avoidance feature is the perfect for feature for someone like me who is new to flying drones!
