Ring is my favourite home security manufacturer. I’ve tried many. When my children were young I had a complete Brinks alarm system in my home, which worked fine, but was pricey. Since then, however, smart home products have become the most popular solution due to the low cost, high dependability, and—well let’s face it, smart home products are very cool! Enter this contest and Ring will have your home covered with some great home security products.

What makes Ring really smart

My top 3 favourite things about Ring are the ease of use, the great notifications, and the customer service. Ease of use of the app and the devices is just one really smart thing about Ring. I started adding Ring products to my home on Mayne Island about 15 months ago. They are so easy to install! I now have 2 outdoor security lights; one over the entrance to my carport, and one at the side of the house overlooking the main driveway to the house. I also have a video doorbell at the front door, and one at the backdoor. These work seamlessly with the Ring app on my phone: I can easily switch from one camera to the other at any time to see what is happening at the location. Also, I can activate the external lights on the cameras as I approach my home for personal safety.

Notifications work great and keep improving. When I first started using Ring, I was annoyed that notifications seemed spotty: sometimes the action that triggered the notification was over before the camera started recording. However, Ring keeps improving their app and their products, so that issue is a thing of the past. That brings me to one of the smartest things about Ring: responsive customer service! As I said I have used many different smart home products from many manufacturers, and Ring is probably the best at customer service. Just to be clear, I did not ever present myself to them as the Editor-in-Chief at Best Buy, one day likely to write an article about their products. I just told them that i am Martin, living on a little island off the coast of British Columbia.

Why did I contact them? I made an error (totally my fault) and broke the backing plate of the camera. Within a few days of explaining my problem, I had the part at my home, and the camera was installed in minutes. As I said, great service!

What are your smart home concerns

Why did I go into so much detail about their service? Well, Ring has recently started offering a home security package, with home monitoring of entry points, and keypads, motion detectors—everything you expect from home security. I have not tested this product yet, but given what I’ve learned about Ring, I expect that they will offer great service here as well.

So, tell me what are you looking for to make your home smart? Are you very concerned about the service you get? Perhaps you are most interested in getting some cameras around your home, or smart doorbells, or something else. One thing I forgot to mention is the great subscription package they offer. Most of the main home security companies require a subscription to get the most from their products. I love that with Ring, one very low price covers everything: video storage from all of the devices at your home, and home monitoring if you have their Wireless Home Security Alarm. All of it … one low monthly price. Now that is very smart!

HOW TO ENTER

Entering this contest is really easy but you can only enter once. In a comment below, tell us what your most pressing home security concern is, and what Ring product you think would be best suited to resolve that. Your problem might be a dark driveway, solved by a camera with a light. Instead it might be much larger, so you are looking for something like Ring Home Security to protect your family throughout your home, at all hours of the day.

WHAT YOU CAN WIN

At the end of the contest we will draw 2 winners. One winner will receive the second place prize that includes a Spotlight Cam and a Video Doorbell 2. The other winner will get the grand prize which includes 2 Spotlight Cams, 2 Ring Doorbells (a Video Doorbell 2, and a Video Doorbell Pro), and Ring Alarm Wireless Home Security!

This contest runs from October 12th until October 25th.

Remember you can only enter once. However, you probably know someone who would love to add some fantastic Ring smart security products to their home, so please share this contest and they too will have a chance to win one of these prizes.

  1. I’d like the spotlight camera for my driveway. I can’t see it easily from the front door and I’d like to be able to see if a friend has arrived to pick me up.

  2. There is a dognapper in my area and I’m scared the family dog will be robbed in broad daylight!!. In addition there are random cats that wander into my backyard sometimes to destroy our garden. The outdoor camera with motion detecting would be perfect.

  3. the door bell cam. I have a daughter thats scared to answer the door when im away from the house and this would be amazing!

  4. Ideally, I would love to have the whole Ring Home Security package; however, if I had to make a choice, it would be the “Wireless Home Security Alarm” as I am NOT a light sleeper and my biggest fear is I will be trapped upstairs in my bedroom without being able to get out safely if anyone gains entry. Alternatively, entry is gained and I will simply not hear anything at all and my house is ransacked. This system looks amazing and would certainly put my mind at ease. Thanks for the opportunity.

  5. we live on one acre, full of trees, very dark at night as there are no street lights. I hear all kinds of noises sometimes at night in the back yard from my bedroom, i would like to know ‘who’ visits then with a camera…we also have a long driveway up to our house and also to be safe i would like to know who is at our door before going to open it!

  6. The area where I live is experiencing a housing boom with a lot of new homes being built and I’m worried all these new homes might attract thieves to the area. A RING home security system would bring an added sense of security to my family and make our humble home feel a little more secure.

  7. This article had me at video doorbell. I have big trees, bushes and flowers around my porch so it so easy for a perpetrator to take advantage of the camoflage. The doorbell would give more piece of mind.

  8. I live right beside the highway and would love the camera with light for safety reasons. for the opportunity to win.

  9. I would love the Ring Video Doorbell! I’m never next to the door when someone ring at the door, with my phone always in my pocket, I would know instantly if I need to rush or not 🙂

  10. My most pressing need is outdoor security. This year alone I had several solar lights go missing, several beautiful potted flowers and on several occasions and most concerning to me was the empty liquor bottles left overnight on my front porch. As a female living alone this is absolutely terrifying to me.

  11. Really need something for my driveway, items go missing sometimes including my kids bike one night. A night vision camera would work wonders here!
    Thanks for the opportunity.

We have had stuff stolen from our back yard, even though it is fenced in!

  14. I think the motion sensor w camera for my dark driveway would be awesome. A deterrant for those w sketchy intentions

  15. My most pressing security need is a dark drive way and a door bell that works less than half the time. I think that a video door bell, a motion sensor light would increase the security of our home.

  16. My most pressing concern is that there is a gap between my entrance door and the house entrance and it would be awesome to have a camera to be able to visually inspect the front entrance before going there!

  17. My most pressing security concern, is not being able to visually monitor who is at my front door when the door bell rings. I would like to be able to check in using an ipad or iphone.

  18. Mine would be a doorbell camera. I don’t like opening the door without knowing who it is.

  19. Most pressing is the dark back yard and sides of the house .Motion detector lights and cameras would give me piece of mind and help feel more secure.

  20. We live in the country with no street lights of neighbours, do our concern is lighting and knowing who is coming to your door before we open it.

  21. My most pressing concern is protecting my valuables in the backyard of my cabin. The doorbell and cameras would both provide security especially at night when i can’t monitor it on my own.

  22. My most pressing concern is the amount of break-ins in my area. A camera in the front will provide some peace of mind while sleeping or away at work.

  23. My most pressing home security concern is a dark front yard, which could be solved by a camera with a light to protect my family at all times.

  24. My most pressing home security concern is a dark backyard which could use a camera with lights to deter crime.

  25. A way to see if something is going on outside the door when we are upstairs in room.

Ring Spotlight Wireless Outdoor 1080p IP Camera – White

  26. It would be for my grandmother’s house. She lives alone and tends to answer the door to anyone. We would feel better if we could see who is there so she doesn’t answer to just anyone.

  27. Living in a not so safe area these security cameras and video doorbell would be a perfect fit for my home. Such a great product idea!

  28. live in the country and would like to have motion detector lights or some sort of camera to keep look out for coyotes and thieves.
