Defender has a long tradition of making high quality home security cameras that are affordable for home owners. I recently tested two Defender systems on the Best Buy Blog and was impressed with the ease of setup and the high-quality video captured by these devices. Defender just released a new camera at Best Buy, the Defender Guard Indoor/Outdoor IP Camera, and we have two to give away in this contest.

Defender security cameras deliver great value for homeowners

As Editor-in-Chief on the blog, I get many of the main brands of security cameras on my desk and have tested most of them myself. I have to say that Best Buy does have a great selection of home security cameras, and the Defender brand is right up there with the best for how easy they are to set up and use, and how great the image quality is.

Defender 4K wired cameraI have reviewed two different types of Defender systems on the blog. One of these was a wired system with four 4k cameras that all connected to a DVR. I pointed out scenarios where this type of system might be a homeowner’s best bet for great security. I also showed the steps for setting it up and getting the most from that system.

Defender Wireless 2K cameraThe second Defender system that I reviewed was a 2k wireless outdoor camera. That camera is easier to install than a wired system, as it sends the video stream over the internet. It shares a very key feature with the other system that I reviewed though: it does not require any additional fees for cloud storage (something many other camera systems do require). That means once you pay for the camera, you do not have to pay for anything else to use the camera and get maximum security benefits (you do need home internet, but I’m assuming most people have that these days).

New Defender Guard Camera will be perfect for most homeowners

As I said at the beginning, Defender just released a new camera at Best Buy. The Defender Guard Wireless 2K Camera shares many of the features with the 2k camera that I recently reviewed. It too has on-camera storage via a 16GB microSD card (expandable to 128GB). It has the same great video quality that I described in my review too, with incredible 16x zoom and crystal clear night vision. The camera will even record the voices and sounds of people being recorded. Crystal clear video and audio will be great tools to help identify who was on your property, or what animal knocked over the garbage bins—animal issues are a big concern around my home!

Check out the information section on the product page to learn about some of its other great features, like a wide field of view, IP67 ratings providing resistance to all forms of weather, etc.

What are your security concerns that could be addressed with a Defender security camera? Enter this contest and you may soon be able to take care of them if you win one of these prizes. And if you don’t win, well, Defender cameras are reasonably priced, and once you buy one, you will not be paying any additional fees for video storage.

How to enter

Entering this contest is really easy, but you can only enter once. In a comment below, tell us what security concerns around your home you would like to address if you win a Defender camera in this contest.

What you can win

At the end of this contest we will select two winners from all eligible entries. Each winner will receive a Defender Guard Indoor/Outdoor IP Camera.

This contest runs from September 27th until October 14th.

Remember, you can only enter once. However, you probably know someone who would love to install a new security camera around their home. Perhaps their neighbourhood has seen some break-ins recently. Perhaps a camera can bring them some peace of mind. Share this contest article with them so they too have a chance to win.

  1. We have had so much theft here in Gonor in the last year, I created a page online protecting our close community and my spouse , my dog and I drive and do laps down each street closely looking to see anything suspicious. We would love to have our house under surveillance while home and not home.

  2. It is very dark where we live with no city lighting and no close neighbours. This camera would help us keep an eye on our property and to feel safer.

  3. This camera would be great as we live in a not-so-great area of our city. We have random people coming up and trying to enter our house. This camera would provide a little peace of mind.

  4. i live in red deer alberta the crime capital of alberta at the moment . i could use one to monitor the back alley because theyve been backing into garage doors lately!

  5. Front door and driveway monitoring would be the main reason to get an outdoor camera. It’s surprising how many people trespass.

  6. I would like to be able to monitor the front door for who is approaching and to act as a security feature for our vehicles.

  7. When I am home alone I would feel much more secure with the Defender camera outside of our front door.

  8. Our home has a fairly large yard for the city and where we are located on our street and the way the other side streets line up we have 6 neighbours houses that touch our yard so while we can be defensive in our house protection, intruders can come through neighbour’s properties easily to get to ours. This Defender Guard Indoor/Outdoor IP Camera would be a huge help.

  9. my side door, its pretty dark there and in a corner. Hard to see if anyone goes in my backyard.

  10. I would like this to monitor my front door. I live in a rural area and would like to be able to see who is at my door and on my property.

  11. This would be perfect for my front door. I have zero monitoring at home, and having this will help our home to be secure and safe.

  12. I would want one on my front door and back balcony. There was someone near the balcony one day and it caused us anxiety.

  13. If I won a Defender camera in this contest, I would use it to catch the people who keep breaking into my vehicles using some kind of electronic defeat device.

  14. Not liking Living in the city lately, so a home security camera would make me fell a little more comfortable in general.

  15. Monitor the perimeter of the house and garage. See if there’s any people checking locks or looking into my yard. Just nice to see what you don’t get to when at work.
