dave at NAMM.jpgLast Year, I covered NAMM 2014 for Best Buy and Casio. It was my first NAMM experience (although I’d lived vicariously through others’ coverage of the event in previous years). It was exciting, tiring, overwhelming and a million other emotions …

Needless to say, I was thrilled to be asked back for NAMM 2015

I’m not at NAMM yet. In fact, I’m not even out of the country.  As I sit at the gate waiting for my flight to Orange County, I’m trying to sift through all the buzz that’s been going around about the “next big thing” to be announced.

Last year, it seemed to be a re-surgance of large “vintage” things (modular synthesizers and DIY audio equipment) as well as more portable and mobile music production tools.

I have no predictions on what will be THE NEW THING this go around, but I’m sure there is going to be a lot to tell you about.

  • Casio has been making a lot of noise with the new DJ and mobile music production offerings.

  • Roland is bound to follow up its Aira release last year with some new toys.

  • Behringer has been making a lot of waves the past few years—shedding their me-too reputation of years past

  • IK Multimedia is starting to include integration with Android mobile devices in their product lines

  • Shure is hinting at a new microphone line that looks like it’s going to break into the mobile market.

There are so many more tidbits I’m trying to keep tabs on!  I won’t be alone either since I will be attending with Montreal based jazz guitarist Marc-André Seguin again this year.  Marc-André will be covering NAMM for Best Buy’s French audience on the French equivalent of Plug-in.

It should be another fantastic trip! Bags are packed, laptop & cameras are cued up … Stay tuned for some NAMM 2015 excitement!  You will be able to find all of the articles I write, and videos that I post on the NAMM summary blog page. Return there often to see what I discover during the show.

Also be sure to follow my tweets on Best Buy’s Twitter account!
