One of the most personal technologies has to be the ereader, like those offered by Kobo. I realize that some of them can surf the web and view multimedia, but for me, they are made for reading books. They are perfectly designed for that one simple task. They are lightweight, with a display that is easy on the eyes in daylight, or at night, and they easily fit in one hand. Load one with all your favourite books and it quickly holds a special place in your heart. Enter this contest and you might just win the newest ereader from Kobo, the Kobo Clara HD.

Why do I love Kobo eReaders so much

Let me tell you a little story, a true story. Once upon a time I had a Kobo ereader, a gift from my children, and I used it all the time. I read a huge assortment of novels on my cherished Kobo: mysteries, historical fiction, classics, trashy pop fiction, non-fiction and more. My brain was filled with great characters and great stories. I took my Kobo everywhere: on cruises in the Caribbean, on flights to Europe, and even back and forth in my car daily so that at any moment I could take a few minutes’ break, just me and my Kobo.

Then tragedy struck: one evening while rushing to take groceries into the house to make dinner, I forgot my Kobo in the car. Wouldn’t you know it, a thief broke into my car and stole it. I was shattered! End of story. However, I still feel the loss. You never know how much you love something until it’s gone.

  1. I love it as it allows me to bring my entire collection with me anywhere, and take books out of the library unlike the Kindle

  2. I love the fact that I can carry my entire library of books with me everywhere I go! And I can read in bed without disturbing my wife.

  3. I like it because it feels like the Canadian version of the Kindle, and I can load it with books to last the longest trip.

  4. I like it because I can read my comics as well as books anywhere and the battery lasts longer than I do!

  5. I have been reading all my life. I have a disability where the books were heavy to carry, hard to be kept open and turn the pages. I use to pass by the thick novels because of their weight, but I wanted to read all of the books.

Then I saw this segment which Oprah had a Kindle, and she was saying all good things. When I saw that, I knew my dreams are coming true. One day I was in a Sony Store, and I saw the first Reader, that’s when my dreams came true. I said I can read all the books that I wanted, so I bought it. Since that day, I have not read a hard or even soft cover book.

Sony Readers went out of business, and mine died so I bought a Kobo, I found the reader was excellant in handling , so I bought it. I have worn two of them out two since then. My third one is neally gone. I use my reader six hours per day. I will not go to any other Readers, only Kobo.
    Thank-you

  6. I like it because it is lightweight and easy on the eyes even when outside compared to a tablet reader.

  7. I am a current Kobo owner, and I love the simplicity of having all of my books in one place. A backlit Ereader is a must for me; I set the timer and when I fall asleep, and don’t turn a page for 5 minutes, my Kobo goes to sleep too!

  8. I like that the kobo readers support many ebook formats and the h2o reader is waterproof.

  9. Have one of the older readers the Arc 7 which is great but it’s a little heavy now as compared to the newer lighter and smaller units.

  10. I take my kobo everywhere. Throw it in my bag lightweight and so easy to carry. Then if I am at appointments, which I used to hate having to wait. Now I pull out my kobo and read. The time flies and my nerves are saved

  11. I love that they go for weeks without needing a charge, and that I can borrow books from my local library.

  12. When my kids were really young I found myself being a single mom. And sometimes I just needed a little time for me. I found that in reading. However, every time I sat down to a marathon baby feeding I would pick up a book and my toddler would stop at nothing to grab and tear and chew on the book. Any book. Like, great you love books! Me to!!! But…eating them is…just…no. The Kobo was amazing. I would read on that and she would pay absolutely no attention and just play happily while I read. Those moments made me a more relaxed and effective mom. So thank you Kobo.

  13. I am an avid reader as were all the girls in my family. We all had books on the go and reading for us was the best of all things to do. One sister was famous for always dropping her book in the tub when reading, but the book still got passed on to us, a little page warped. I resisted the ereader for the longest time but eventually gave it a go. I almost lost it when it eventually died on me for good. My sister as a surprise got me a new one. Best present ever. Believe me, if this one dies I will be in line the next minute for a new one. My kobo is never far from me and will always be my need to have. A new one would be great because I could then load my old one with books to pass on to a senior home for their enjoyment. Thanks.

  14. I love Kobo e-reader because it can read both mobi and epub files. It’s versatile plus it uses micro-sd card to expand your memory/collection. It is also a Canadian company.

  15. I love the Pocket App integration. I save my articles every day and try to catch up by end of week. Its like carrying a newspaper around. So much better than reading off a tablet or phone screen.

  16. I love that with my Kobo I don’t have to give up my old books to make way for new ones! It’s also great that I can borrow e-books from my local library online to read and never have to worry about returns!

  17. I love the versatility and openness compared to kindle. Also the database covers all the books I love to read ( e.g. Turkish books not on amazon)

  18. Kobo e readers seem great. I don’t have one, but would totally love it. I like how little space it takes up, but holds sooo many books at once!

  19. I like the idea that I can afford more books since ebooks are often less expensive than paper ones. AND I can load so many onto this device!

  20. Since having surgery on my wrist I have been hurting myself trying to read books. I haven’t replaced my dead ereader yet and this would really help.

  21. I love the fact that you can read at night lying down without holding it. My wrists used to hurt having to keep the book open. Now I can fall asleep and it turns itself off.

  22. It’s great being able to hold it in one hand and not have to create a bunch of yoga poses for my hands to read a book.

  23. I love my kobo ereader for many reasons. I love that it holds so many books. I love how easy it is to sync and update with new books, I love reading articles on it through the mypocket app. It is when camping or traveling that my kobo truly shines brightest, so compact and headlamp or no headlamp it doesn’t matter.

  24. My favorite part of the Kobo is the integration with Pocket. I’ve been reading so many articles since I’ve switched from Kindle to Kobo on top of my bookreading.
It’s truly the perfect reading device.

  25. I love the portability and the ease of putting ebooks on it. The backlight helps me read anytime I want!

  26. I love Kobo because it’s the best e-reader for getting content from Canadian public libraries.

  27. I love being able to load books onto there when I travel. It’s much easier then buying or borrowing books on the go.

  28. I love the ability to have mutilple books in one spot without the weight of said books. I read quickly and love being able to read more than 1 book while on vacation.

  29. I’m more of a traditional type, still buying & reading physical books and carrying them with me to places, never tried an E-Reader before so would love to try one. The benefit I see about having a Kobo E-Reader is that I can have lots of book selections on only 1 device and it’s lightweight, some books are pretty heavy to carry around.

  30. I love my kobo so much that I can’t live without it. My kobo comes every where with me and when I finish a book I have so many on hand to choose from. When I thought i lost mine, I had to run out and get another one right away I couldn’t wait for a call back from where I thought I lost my kobo. I gradually got a call back and was still happy too have two. Great for my kids to buy me a kobo card that they can afford and know I’ll love it and enjoy the gift. It’s easy too use and to find new books for great prices.

  31. I love kobo readers because they are a space saver!! And my backpack would be quite heavy if all those books were paperback!!

  32. Carry a complete library which can be read anywhere and everywhere. Easily buy a book without advertising being at front centre stage; borrow from a library, or bring your own. The choice is yours to make. Kobo really is for book lovers.
