HP at CES 2022

As one of the first PC makers and a major producer of accessories like printers and monitors, you can always count on HP to show off interesting new gear at the annual Consumer Electronics Show. The company didn’t disappoint at CES 2022. I can’t mention all the new products (there were dozens), but here are the highlights among HP’s big reveals.

HP at CES 2022HP Elite Dragonfly G3

Like most PC makers, HP is tackling the challenges of hybrid work and remote learning. We’ve had a few years to learn what’s needed and the company has those requirements all wrapped up in a compact bundle in the form of the ultralight HP Dragonfly G3 laptop. This one has been getting a lot of media attention.

The laptop is powered by all-new 12th generation Intel Core processors (you can read about that CES 2022 reveal here), for high performance. HP switched to a 3:2 aspect ratio for the 13.5-inch display for a more productivity-friendly screen to minimize scrolling through documents and spreadsheets. One display option is a super-bright 1,000-nit 1080p panel that will be welcome if you work outdoors or near bright windows. To improve remote meetings, it’s equipped with an upgraded 5MP webcam. It features Auto Frame to keep the focus on your face as you move around, auto voice-levelling, and AI-powered noise reduction to keep speech legible—even if the speaker is wearing a mask. It’s also extremely travel-friendly at just 1kg (2.2 pounds).

Chromebook fans will be happy to know HP is also releasing a Chromebook version called the Elite Dragonfly Chromebook.

HP at CES 2022EliteBook x360 refresh

HP’s EliteBook x360 is one of the most popular 2-in-1 laptops on the market. The company was showing off a refreshed version that keeps the award-winning design, while bumping up the specs and making it even better for productivity.

That means 12th generation Intel Core processors and adherence to Intel Evo requirements for great battery life. There is a full range of ports (including both USB Type-A and USB-C Thunderbolt 4), a spill-resistant keyboard, four speakers with Bang & Olufsen audio, dual mics, and Wi-Fi 6E. It’s equipped with up to 16GB of fast, DDR5 RAM, and up to 2TB of m.2 PCIe 4.0 SSD storage. The webcam is a 5MP model for improved video conferencing. The 14-inch WUXGA touchscreen panel gets stretched to a 16:10 aspect ratio, making it more work-friendly, and the display is automatically optimized according to your surroundings.

Z2 Mini G9 mini workstation + Z40C G3 curved display

HP at CES 2022

These are two very different products, but they pair together perfectly.

HP says the Z2 Mini G9 is the world’s most powerful mini workstation. This tiny PC (just 8.6 inches or 22 cm on it’s longest side) houses a low profile NVIDIA RTX graphics card, a next-gen Intel Core vPro K-Series processor, DDR5 RAM, and PCIe Gen4 SSD storage. HP sees it as a compact solution for creators who work on high resolution video or 3D rendering.

The HP Z40C G3 curved display is a 40-inch immersive monster, with a 5K panel and an integrated 4K webcam for ultra HD video conferencing.

HP at CES 2022M24 and M27 video conferencing monitors

If you’re looking for a work-from-home monitor that offers a big improvement without being quite as dramatic (or expensive) as the massive Z40C G3, HP has two new options in the M24 and M27. These are optimized for video conferencing with integrated stereo speakers, integrated dual microphones, and built-in 5MP webcams. Both are Full HD resolution (in 24-inch and 27-inch sizes), and both are Eyesafe and TÜV certified to reduce fatigue if you’re staring at them for hours at a time.

HP at CES 2022HP Omen 25L, 40L, and 45L desktop gaming PCs

The company showed off a trio of powerful new Omen desktop gaming PCs. All three can can accommodate the latest Intel Z690 and AMSD Z3 motherboards, and NVIDIA RTX 30 series or AMD Radeon RX series graphics cards.

The top-of-the-line Omen 45L is the first to use HP’s new quieter and more efficient Cyro Chamber cooling technology. It can be equipped with up to an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 GPU or an AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT, with a 12th Gen Intel Core i9 or 8-core AMD Ryzen 9 5900X processor.

HP at CES 2022Victus 15L gaming PC

HP chose CES 2022 to launch its new Victus sub-brand. These are gaming PCs aimed at what the company refers to as “escapist gamers.”

Rather than looking for fire-breathing specs for competitive gaming, the target market is those who want a capable desktop PC that can also play single-player games like The Sims.

The Victus 15L can be upgraded, and sells with up to an NVIDIA RTX 3060 Ti graphics card.

HP Omen 27ru gaming monitor

The new Omen 27ru is HP’s newest gaming monitor. It may look restrained compared to other gaming monitors, but that minimalist design hides some serious specs.

It has a 27-inch IPS display with 4K resolution and HDR. HDMI 2.1 support at 120Hz makes it a great choice for the latest game consoles. Connected to a gaming PC it supports DisplayPort 1.4, a 144Hz refresh rate, and AMD Premium Pro. There are also two integrated, down-firing speakers.

HP at CES 2022Updated HP Omen 16 and Omen 17 gaming laptops

HP’s popular Omen 16 and Omen 17 gaming laptops don’t get a radical makeover, but for 2022 they do get a major performance boost. Both will be upgraded to 12th generation Intel Core processors and NVIDIA’s new GeForce RTX30 series laptop GPUs (you can read all about those new mobile graphics cards here).

HP at CES 2022Hyper-X PC gaming accessories

HP owns the popular gaming accessory maker Hyper-X, so it was a part of HP’s CES 2022 showcase. Look for new Hyper-X releases this year that include the Alloy Origins 65, a 65% form factor keyboard featuring Hyper-X’s own mechanical switches, RGB lighting, double-shot PBT keycaps, and the ability to store up to three profiles onboard.

The company’s new Cloud Alpha Wireless headset features a familiar look, but drops the wires with 20 metre range and an incredible 300 hours of battery life on a charge.

CES 2022 HP Smart Tank 7600 seriesHP Smart Tank 7600 printer

HP won a CES 2022 Innovation award for its Smart Tank 7600 printer. Besides providing massive amounts of ink to keep you printing without needing refills, the HP 7600 printers feature a 3-inch touch display that fades out of sight when not in use. And in an industry first, the ink tanks are illuminated to make it easier to see the ink levels. It also features a stylishly functional design that’s green thanks to HP engineers using over 25% recycled plastic.

The Smart Tank 7600 launched just prior to CES and you can expect it to soon join the HP printer lineup at Best Buy.
