What should you look for when buying a dash cam like the many offered by Nextbase? Perhaps you want some protection for you and your family while driving at the lowest price. What are you looking for in a dash cam?

I personally don’t own a dash cam. It’s not that I don’t care about the advantages they offer, I just haven’t got around to buying one yet. But if I was, I would want something in the middle of the Nextbase series: probably a 322GW or 422GW. Perhaps it’s that the review done by Dave Neufeld was extremely persuasive? Or somehow it resonated with me in a way the other Nextbase articles have not. After all, I think all the writers did a great job examining the different models and clearly explaining what they liked and did not like about each: pros and cons. I think what is more likely is that I just like the 422GW most because I feel it’s right for me in a way that I can’t quite explain.

Nextbase keeps raising the bar on what a dash cam can do

Not that I am averse to perfection. I have not seen the new model that was just announced today, the 622GW; nor have I sent it for review—Nextbase haven’t sent me samples yet. But judging from the specifications and features, it is a step above the rest. The features include an impressively clear 4K image at 30 fps, image stabilization, and Amazon Alexa built in. I love that if you are involved in an accident, this dash cam will register the most recent footage as high priority and not let it get recorded over.

  7. I need image stabilization in a dash cam. I hate looking at shaky images! Especially in a constantly moving frame.

  9. For me, having the option to include a rear camera is important as lacking that option limits application in many accident situations. Simplicity of use is also important, you don’t want to be fiddling with these too much, just switch it on and go! As I’m not an Alexa user, the 322 probably best meets my needs.

    • I love that the 522GW offers more peace of mind to car drivers and passengers and the Emergency SOS Response feature send alerts to emergency services in the event of crashes. We have a soon to be teen driver and this would make me feel alot better!

  18. After reviewing the different options on these webcams, I love the “The Nextbase 622GW 4K. It includes the “What3words geocode communications system’, which sounds amazing. This amazing software is capable of providing your exact physical location to within 3m squared of accuracy, which doesn’t require a data connection to do so. Never heard of this in a webcam.

    I would love this amazing webcam!!!

You never know when an accident will occur so any of the models with this feature would be fantastic!! My boyfriend and I are planning an RV tour trip for 6 months across Canada beginning of April 2021, this would be an amazing addition to our trip! 🙂

I really like the feature where it alerts emergency services in the event of a crash, every second counts, especially in a bad crash so the sooner someone is alerted, the sooner you can get help. Night vision is also a plus, my car was recently broken into and it would’ve helped immensely had I had a dash cam. My favourite would be Nextbase 522GW.

  40. The 522 for sure ! Firstly the 1440p HD recording would be great and clear but the SOS feature that’s activated in a crash is HUGE piece of mind as someone who’s been in a crash and couldn’t move to contact anyone.

  43. The feature I absolutely love is how the Nextbase 422GW dash cam contains its own battery. This would be my top choice. I also love how the G-Sensor detects events by impact and protects those clips so that they are not overwritten. These features make it great for when you’re car is parked. I loved reading your review on the new 622GW 4K dash cam, it sounds like Nextbase really thought of everything, amazing ingenuity.
