BlackwidowChromaDon’t let the happy, unassuming rainbow color splash fool you. The Razer Blackwidow Chroma is a serious gaming keyboard for the serious gamer, and for a limited time, Best Buy is one of the few places you can get your hands on it.

(By the way, with the appropriate Razer Synapse software, the rainbow can be in constant motion in a wave pattern.)

The Razer Blackwidow Chroma may just be the ultimate mechanical keyboard, and is definitely the most ambitious and comprehensive of the Blackwidow product line in general. I swear by mechanical keyboards now, and mine’s nowhere near as durable as this one claims to be. This keyboard houses the connectors and switches better than others to minimize the amount of dust and debris that enters it, and gold plated contacts mean that your keystrokes are always there whenever you need them.

If you’re worried about durability, don’t be.  Each switch is designed to take a lot of use, and a lot of abuse.  How much exactly?  Try up to 60 MILLION keystrokes, which is a full 10 million more than the average mechanical keyboard.  If you’re going to be playing in the dark, or enjoy your mechanical keyboard having that glowy feel, you’re also in luck. In addition to that rainbow wave I made reference to above, you can set it to pretty well any color you want.  Match your decor or just pick your favourite color – You have up to 16.8 million choices which you can easily set through the Razer synapse system. What else can you do with it visually? Check this out.

Fortunately, the Razer Blackwidow Chroma is not just a nice looking keyboard, but one around to help taking your PC gaming to the next level. A 10 key rollover system enables you to input as comprehensively as you wish.

As with most Razer keyboards, it also has “gaming mode” activated.  Gaming mode is probably one of the best things for a PC gamer. It disables certain features (like the Windows key) which would otherwise bounce you back to the desktop.  This is a fabulous feature for you MMO gamers that create macros for your left hand. My wife used to have the problem of occasionally skimming the Windows button when she was a regular World of Warcraft player and I’d often come across a keyboard in our office with the button just removed.  She doesn’t have to worry about that any longer with this feature, which is pretty timely considering Warlords of Draenor is just around the corner.  It’ll definitely benefit all of you current or budding ESO gamers too. As for those macros, not only can you set them, but the keyboard comes with 5 additional macro keys just so you can program exclusives into them and make your life even easier.

RazerBWC.pngThen there are some onboard features which will save you the hassle of getting tangled up. LIke a typical Razer keyboard, it has an additional integrated USB port built into the keyboard so that you can plug something else in without fiddling with wires off your PC. However, as an added bonus, you will also get onboard audio-in/mic-out inputs. Again, this is all in the name of creating the most efficient PC gaming experience possible. No tangle, no fuss, no muss.  It’s just a well crafted, high quality keyboard giving you a high quality gaming experience.

The Razer Blackwidow Chroma keyboard is now available at Best Buy and online at BestBuy.ca

  1. I’m a sucker for cool looking gadgets and gizmos, but fortunately (unlike half the junk in my kitchen I’ve picked up over the years) this one has a good track record for performance.  Even if you’re not much of a gamer, I’ve found that having a mechanical keyboard in the home office downstairs has actually helped my concentration and productivity a bit.  It’s probably psychologically tied to the rhythmic clickity-clacking of the keys and nothing else, but I swear I can work faster on those things.
