Nintendo Switch is the ultimate family gaming console. It has the flexibility to take anywhere your family goes, and the versatility to go from individual play to interactive or competitive play. Also, the selection of games continues to excite us with each new release. Their newest game, Pokemon Scarlet / Pokemon Violet comes out this month and Best Buy is giving away a copy of the double pack version of the game, a Nintendo prize pack, and a Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Edition Switch OLED, for one amazing ultimate Nintendo prize.
Do you have a favourite Nintendo memory?
Families have been enjoying Nintendo gaming for decades. My favourite Nintendo memory is from when my children were young playing Mario Kart with my father-in-law Dan. The fun started with selecting a driver, “Granpa, I want to be Bowser; you got to be him last time!” which to an outsider may have seemed confrontational but the atmosphere was total fun and laughs.
Pokemon too has been thrilling adults and children since 1996. What started as a very successful video game for the Game Boy quickly evolved into anime, trading cards, manga, and tons of related toys and other merchandise. Few on this planet have not experience Pokemon in one way or another. This contest will certainly create lasting memories for someone in Canada. The prize includes a Nintendo Switch console on which they will play countless games at home, at friends’ homes, and on road trips. One of those games will be the new Pokemon Scarlet / Pokemon Violet that’s also included in this prize. And the winner will also enjoy a collection of Nintendo Pokemon merchandise. It’s pretty much a perfect Pokemon prize!
Many people will be gifting Nintendo this season
You may be wondering what are the best games to give Nintendo Switch gamers this season. You might already have an opinion about it, or you may be interested in what games other players are recommending. We sent our writers to a Nintendo holiday showcase event to get some insights and you can read about their experiences on the blog. Also, scroll through the comments under that article. For the next two weeks, Canadians will be leaving their Nintendo Switch game recommendations under that article as one of the methods of entering this contest. Here are all of the ways you can enter this contest:
How to enter
Entering this contest is easy and you can enter in three different ways:
- In a comment below, tell us what your favourite Nintendo memory is, what game, was involved, and why this memory stands out for you.
- In a comment beneath the “Nintendo Holiday Showcase” article, tell us which Nintendo Switch game sold at Best Buy (include the model number) is your gift recommendation for Canadians this season.
- For up to two (2) additional entries, create a public post on a social media channel (one entry per channel!) telling your friends and followers which version “Pokemon Scarlet” or “Pokemon Violet” you’ll play first if you win this Nintendo Switch prize pack; include the hashtag #BestBuyNintendoSwitchContest, so we can find your post, and include one of the pictures showing on this article.
Then return here and tell us in a comment below on which channel you posted it and the name of your channel (since many people use pseudonyms) so that we can check and verify your entry. You can use any social media channel (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, etc.), but the post must be public so we can verify it is there.
What you can win
At the end of this contest, we will randomly select one (1) winner to receive the Nintendo Switch Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Prize pack that includes the double game and the Nintendo Switch OLED Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Edition.
This contest runs from Nov 17th until Dec 5th.
Remember you can enter in three different way as discussed above. Nintendo is best played with friends and our contests are best enjoyed with you share with family and friends to increase that chances that either you or someone close to you wins a great prize.

Favourite Nintendo memory is when a friend bought a Game Boy for me shortly after they came out. Spent so much time playing with that thing, lots of fun.
My daughter loved playing Mario Cart
My favorite nintendo memory is playing Goldeneye with my brother in about 1999 in our basement.
My favorite memory was getting the original Nintendo NES with the duck hunt gun for Christmas. My brother and I played Duck hunt so much! It is my best memory of playing games with my brother.
This is an easy one for me. I remember playing duck hunt and being so excited to use the gun and shoot the birds. After my parents divorced I never played it again and I was so sad about it. When I met my husband we would talk about the game and it was so nice to have someone else who also loved playing that game. It brought back so many feelings of nostalgia talking with someone who also loved playing as much if not more than me!
My favourite Nintendo memory is of having fun playing Mario Kart, with my then young daughter.
favourite nintendo memory is getting n64 for christmas. Siblings and I never thought we’d get such a big gift!
Let me tell you about the time 8 year old me finally (FINALLY!) beat the Penguin in the slippery slope race on Mario 64. It took many attempts, including one where I was beelining it for the finish line and my little brother (an adorable but mischievous 3 year old) HIT THE POWER BUTTON ON THE CONSOLE. I spent a few minutes having a meltdown, he had a meltdown, my mom had a meltdown, then we all had some juice and I calmed down and tried again and again and again.
AND I FINALLY DID IT.
I saved the game quickly before disaster could strike twice. There was dancing and cheering, more juice, and all the drama from before was forgotten. Never before nor since has earning one of the castle’s secret stars tasted as good as winning that race against that awful penguin.
favourite memory is getting n64 for christmas. it was so wild, because we never thought we’d get something like that
Playing the original Mario Bros with my grandson
My favourite Nintendo memory is playing Pokemon Emerald during recess with my friends. This stands out for me because it was a revolutionary game for the time.
Playing the original Mario bros. with my brother 🙂
Greatest memory is playing the 1st Mario Brothers
My favourite Nintendo memory is when my dad bought my brother and I a SNES for Christmas (back in the 90s) and we would play MarioKart for hours. Pretty sure I played and beat Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past at least 100 times. I still love both of those games – it reminds me of being a kid and spending time with my brother 🙂
My favorite Nintendo memory is kicking my brother’s butt at Dr Mario and Yoshi’s cookie. Will still play when we are hanging out…but unfortunately he’s much better now!
My favourite Nintendo memory is playing Super Mario World on the SNES. I played that religiously when I was a kid and when I finally beat the game, I remember being so proud of myself, haha!
My favourite Nintendo memory is playing the original Mario Bros. It was the stat!

Always a Big Plus For My Grand Daughters That Love Playing Games. Mario Brothers is My Recognition of Years Past. I Guess They Will Have To Bring Gramma out of The Dark Ages & Whip Her Playing Games.

My favourite Nintendo memory is playing N64 with my brother. He recently passed and I inherited his N64 system that had been in storage for years. Dusting it off to play with my own kids now. RIP Mat

Favourite Nintendo memory for me was playing Pokemon Gold, finishing the game, and then discovering that the post-game allowed you to travel to and play in the entire region from the previous game.

My favorite Nintendo memory is playing Super Mario Bros. 2 on NES because I’d play it with my cousins a lot
The hours and a hours spent playing Grand Turismo every single weekend. That is a core favorite memory for me.
My fave memory is playing Mario Kart at a college party and just being SO hilariously terrible at it. I’m a much better watcher than I am a player, but I have fun either way!
My Nintendo memory is with the game Mario 3. When that came out my brother convinced me to spend my hard earned money to help pay for some of it. I ended up paying for most of it and he ended up playing it the most. Gotta love older brothers!
