Nintendo Switch is the ultimate family gaming console. It has the flexibility to take anywhere your family goes, and the versatility to go from individual play to interactive or competitive play. Also, the selection of games continues to excite us with each new release. Their newest game, Pokemon Scarlet / Pokemon Violet comes out this month and Best Buy is giving away a copy of the double pack version of the game, a Nintendo prize pack, and a Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Edition Switch OLED, for one amazing ultimate Nintendo prize.
Do you have a favourite Nintendo memory?
Families have been enjoying Nintendo gaming for decades. My favourite Nintendo memory is from when my children were young playing Mario Kart with my father-in-law Dan. The fun started with selecting a driver, “Granpa, I want to be Bowser; you got to be him last time!” which to an outsider may have seemed confrontational but the atmosphere was total fun and laughs.
Pokemon too has been thrilling adults and children since 1996. What started as a very successful video game for the Game Boy quickly evolved into anime, trading cards, manga, and tons of related toys and other merchandise. Few on this planet have not experience Pokemon in one way or another. This contest will certainly create lasting memories for someone in Canada. The prize includes a Nintendo Switch console on which they will play countless games at home, at friends’ homes, and on road trips. One of those games will be the new Pokemon Scarlet / Pokemon Violet that’s also included in this prize. And the winner will also enjoy a collection of Nintendo Pokemon merchandise. It’s pretty much a perfect Pokemon prize!
Many people will be gifting Nintendo this season
You may be wondering what are the best games to give Nintendo Switch gamers this season. You might already have an opinion about it, or you may be interested in what games other players are recommending. We sent our writers to a Nintendo holiday showcase event to get some insights and you can read about their experiences on the blog. Also, scroll through the comments under that article. For the next two weeks, Canadians will be leaving their Nintendo Switch game recommendations under that article as one of the methods of entering this contest. Here are all of the ways you can enter this contest:
How to enter
Entering this contest is easy and you can enter in three different ways:
- In a comment below, tell us what your favourite Nintendo memory is, what game, was involved, and why this memory stands out for you.
- In a comment beneath the “Nintendo Holiday Showcase” article, tell us which Nintendo Switch game sold at Best Buy (include the model number) is your gift recommendation for Canadians this season.
- For up to two (2) additional entries, create a public post on a social media channel (one entry per channel!) telling your friends and followers which version “Pokemon Scarlet” or “Pokemon Violet” you’ll play first if you win this Nintendo Switch prize pack; include the hashtag #BestBuyNintendoSwitchContest, so we can find your post, and include one of the pictures showing on this article.
Then return here and tell us in a comment below on which channel you posted it and the name of your channel (since many people use pseudonyms) so that we can check and verify your entry. You can use any social media channel (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, etc.), but the post must be public so we can verify it is there.
What you can win
At the end of this contest, we will randomly select one (1) winner to receive the Nintendo Switch Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Prize pack that includes the double game and the Nintendo Switch OLED Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Edition.
This contest runs from Nov 17th until Dec 5th.
Remember you can enter in three different way as discussed above. Nintendo is best played with friends and our contests are best enjoyed with you share with family and friends to increase that chances that either you or someone close to you wins a great prize.

Super Mario Brothers on the NES after receiving the bundle pack for Christmas. Many hours were spent waking up early just to beat the next level.
My favorite memory was when i was 4 my parents had the original gameboy with tetris, I never understood the game I just thought it was cool my mom could finish the final level and let the rocket ship launch.
When i was older we kept the gameboy and game still today – those simple day memories
I have so many memories of playing Nintendo. My grandma had a Nintendo and I remember on Christmas Day we would all take turns playing. It was so much fun
My favorite Nintendo memory is playing super Mario 3D bros because my brothers and I would have something so fun to play. All together screaming at each other which way to go and what to do was so fun
My brother and I always loved playing Mario Cart. Both od us got quite good playing the game. Fun competing against him.
My favourite Nintendo memory is playing Mario Cart. Competing against my brother was always a fun way to pass time after school and summer holidays.
Loved playing Mario Cart and finally beating my sister during school vacation.
Playing Mario brothers on Nintendo with my friends for hours during summer vacation
My favourite Nintendo memory has to be from the old school mario party games. My friends and I would play those things endlessly. It’s rare to share moments like that today and it holds a special place in my memory.
Super Mario for sure!!!
My favourite Nintendo memory is playing Mario Cart and finally beating my brother.
Honestly, I’d have to say the memory that stands out the most was when I FINALLY got my Game Boy Colour. The see-through purple with Pokemon Yellow. I had asked Santa (and even the Easter Bunny) for one YEARS. I essentially memorized the game & it actually encouraged me to read more since I had to do so much of it.
Playing Super Mario Brothers on the original NES Nintendo with my sister during Christmas holidays.
My favorite memory is kicking my little brothers ass in every game under the sun growing up – most notably sending out bananas like my day job in Mario Kart for n64.
My favorite Nintendo memory is kicking my brothers ass in Crash Bandicoot & Mario Kart as a kid. It was a staple console growing up (N64) and every memory is a good one!
My favourite Nintendo memory is playing Mario Kart as a family when our two sons were young. My wife wasn’t really into video games, but agreed to play. As we played she kind of complained about “always losing”. Our one son said, “That’s okay, Mom. Someone has to come in last place.” This memory stands out, as it was always fun playing games together as a family, and our son’s comment made us laugh.
My favourite memory was catching all Pokemon in the original Pokemon games with my old Gameboy and taking the game to the store to print out stickers after collecting the Pokedex.
Playing Mario Bros as a child with my sister
Mario brothers on Nintendo with my SON and his friends, and that crazy music. I would be in the kitchen, and THAT music would start, drove me up a wall.
Mario brothers on Nintendo with my daughter.
Best Nintendo memory is playing Mario in our camper with my sister.
My favourite memory of playing Nintendo games with my boys is, they always wanted to beat me when they were little. I let them win sometimes but now, I don’t stand a chance at winning. Hey, they never let me win!!

My favourite Nintendo memory has to be learning how to play from my brother when the video games first came out and Super Mario was the game, how thrilling. This memory sticks out because I no longer have my brother to teach me this stuff because he passed away a few years ago.
My favorite memory of Nintendo is one of my first memories of Nintendo. It’s staying up all night with my sister when I was 15 playing super Mario bros on the super Nintendo. I was so addicted to that game

my son was young when Pokemon came out and he was sooo thrilled with his first game! Now as an adult he has every game in his collection. But was that first game, the thrill and excitment that I remember so well!
We got originally Nintendo game system for Xmas in 80’s. It came with something that reminded me of brother’s atari system, 1 disc with 2 games Mario Bros&Duke Hunt, 2 controller & toy gun for Duck Hunt. Used to get sad when birds would get hit make thst “Owow’ sound. Loved Mario Brothers, was able to use controller with both hands. Me & my brother, who never played with me any other time he was 10 yrs older then me. He knew I was good. We’d spend snow days playing, he sneak me down and play on weekends. Ironic that enter this contest. My brother would pass away age 23yrs in 96. Not saddened to have this memories brought back, just forgotten them. Thank you Best Buy.

when they announced Pokémon Legends of Arceus, it stands out because they made it an open world and at the same time it was a survival game that has a rich history and featured one of the best regions in the franchise
