Today, Electronic Arts announced Madden NFL 22. Releasing worldwide on August 20, 2021, this year’s cover features two NFL Super Bowl champions, Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes. In today’s announcement, EA emphasized that Madden NFL 22 will utilize the power of PS5 and Xbox Series X|S to deliver the raw energy and emotion of the NFL. EA SPORTS also gave fans a first look at new Madden NFL 22 gameplay via a trailer released today.

Next-generation gameplay with Dynamic Gameday

Exciting new features and updates in Madden NFL 22

As a result of player feedback, Franchise Mode in Madden NFL 22 has been improved. It allows players to feel more connected and in control of their team. Improvements this year include more detailed staff management and skill tree progression systems. Additionally, it features a revamped Season Engine that keeps things fresh every week. Furthermore, Franchise Mode will get continuous improvements throughout the year via updates.

Today, we also learned of Madden NFL 22‘s newest mode, The Yard. This brand new mode will feature an all-new single player campaign and avatar progression system that shares progress, rewards and vanity with Face of the Franchise. Speaking of which, Face of The Franchise returns and includes an all-new story, player class system and the option to play on the defensive side of the ball as a linebacker for the first time.

Further enhancements in the game include Superstar KO. This year it brings multiplayer squad play to NFL teams with the addition of real world NFL teams to the mode for the first time. Finally, Madden Ultimate Team is set to deliver a new season of content, allow for halftime adjustments to Superstar X-Factors and integrate Next Gen Stats to track stats for player items.

  1. I know this is probably said every generation, but I am genuinely curious how they can possibly improve the graphics from the last set of consoles. It feels like it is, if not already, going to reach the point where they are marketing the fact that you can see water droplets on blades of grass in 12K fidelity.

    I think it would be cool if they added some sort of arcade mode in a future iteration similar to NFL Street or Blitz where you can mess around and have specials with really big tackles. I think NHL has “Threes” mode which is sort of a similar thing, so it would be cool to see Madden adapt that.
