Why you should be looking at Samsung TVs in 2023

Have you looked at the range of TVs on display at a Best Buy store these days? I have. Impressive. Almost all of them are LED TVs, though there are a range of types of LED TVs. In the store your eyes will first be drawn to the stunning Samsung Frame TVs. We gave one of these away earlier this year on the blog. Then you’ll look at some of the other types of LEDs and, if you are like most people, you’ll be confused by the terms: OLED, QLED, and Neo QLED. All three are great. All three do some things better than other things. For example, OLEDs have the best blacks thanks to individual self-lighting pixels. QLED has the best brightness (great for bright rooms) thanks to the backlighting. Neo QLEDs are the best combination thanks to their arrays of mini-LED backlighting. Samsung QLED and Neo QLEDs have other advantages too including lower costs.

Why do you want a new TV this fall

Each year, the fall season seems to usher in not just pumpkin spice lattes and sweater weather, but also a surge in people bringing home new TV sets. Here are the top two reasons why:

1. New models and clearance sales

Television manufacturers often release new models in the spring and summer so by fall, these new releases have had time to be reviewed so you know which ones to buy. This not only help you make more informed decisions but also puts pressure on retailers to clear out older inventory to make room for the next generation of models. So whether you are looking for the best new TVs or last year’s models at significant savings, this is the best time of year.

2. Ready for holiday entertainment and sports events

The fall season is a precursor to major holidays like Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve, all of which are synonymous with family gatherings and home entertainment. People anticipate needing a better or bigger TV to host movie marathons, special broadcasts, and, of course, holiday specials. Additionally, fall is a significant season for sports with the NFL, NBA, and NHL seasons bringing excitement into our homes. The lure of watching big games and key matchups on a shiny new screen can be hard to resist.

Fall is a perfect storm of incentives; it’s the season not just for falling leaves but also for finding the perfect new TV for your home on television sets. And it’s the perfect time for us to have a contest giving two of the newest and best TVs away.

Entering this contest is easy and you can in three different ways (once per method):

  2. In a comment beneath Shelly’s review of the Q70C, tell us one thing you learned about that television from Shelly’s review, and let us know what your ideal TV size would be for your home.
  3. In a comment beneath Shelly’s review of the QN90C, tell us how many hours of TV get watched in your home, and one thing that you learned about this television from Shelly’s review.

What you can win

At the end of this contest, we will randomly draw two winners. One will receive the Samsung QN90C TV that Shelly reviewed and the other will receive the Samsung Q70C TV that Shelly reviewed.

This contest runs from Sept 15th to Oct 1st.

  2. I watch a lot of movies on my very old tv, but it’s not very bright so it’s difficult to see details sometimes especially during night scenes. The brightness levels on these ones would be really helpful. And I’m looking forward to watching Only Murders in the Building and The Morning Show.

  8. We need a new tv as our old one has a bright light streak from top to bottom and it is annoying. We are retired and watch quite a bit of tv and would really enjoy a well built tv such as Samsung for our viewing.

    1. my current TV is at least 10 years old so it’d be great to have a TV with a better picture quality
    2. it’d be great to have a larger TV to help with viewing
    I’d watch the newest Tatort from MHz Choice streaming. I’ve watched Borowski, Streets of Berlin, and Weimar and they are all fabulous.

  10. My old 27″ CRT TV is 22 years old and on its last legs, and is difficult to connect to other devices. I would like to watch blu ray episodes of Star Trek Continuous, and Star Trek the Motion Picture.

    • My TV is 26 years old. If works BUT .lwhen I go to Best Buy and see the resolution and features on the TV’s, I salivate. However its purchase is in line behind fixing my car … sigh. I might give in. If so, I will be watching Bilions and the new Mastepiece Theater shows.

  13. I would like a new TV since the old one is smaller, not as bright a picture and it would be great if you could ajust the brightness of the picture. I would like to watch Yellowstone and BBC news. The layer of quantum dots adds a level of depth and enhances the picture quality in a way that most LED TVs can’t achieve, an 85 inch TV would suite me. We watch three hours of TV a day and the picture quality this TV has. It can reach such deep, rich black tones and such bright colours that if I had to describe it in a few words I’d say it was a QLED that looks like an OLED.

    • Our current TV is 7 years old, has a dead pixel, and is a bit small for our living room (46″). Looking forward to watching the latest seasons of Shoresy and True Detective when they are released.
