You can choose to mount it to create a designated theatre room, or you can keep it mobile so one day it’s in the living room for a movie, the next day in the basement for gaming, or in the kids room for a sleep over. How amazing is the BenQ 4K projector

This is probably something that many people are wondering. We asked Erin Lawrence, Editor of Home Theatre on the blog and also a veteran of television news with CTV in Calgary, to try this projector and give us her honest opinion.

In her written review and video review, Erin highly endorsed this projector. Here are some of the highlights of her review:

  1. The picture was amazing, despite her not having a white wall or a projection screen as a backdrop. (She actually projected it onto a blue wall and still she thought the image was great!)
  2. The image was bright, clear and showed accurate, crisp colours, even when the room was brightly lit.
  3. The fan (something that used to drive me crazy on an older projector I once had in my home) was barely noticeable and did not take away from the enjoyment of using this projector.

She also pointed out some of the things that people will consider adding to their home to make the experience even better.

How would you improve your own home theatre experience

Okay so let’s just suppose that you were the winner of this contest. Picture that! Where will you place it in your home? Would you mount it on the ceiling, or keep it mobile so you can move it from room to room?

Importantly, what technology would you need to make the home theatre experience truly complete? I’m not talking about a popcorn maker: that’s a given! Would you be looking to add a projection screen, or would you just choose a white wall (or paint a wall white for this best results). Would you look at getting a surround sound or ATMOS system ?Erin said that the sound from the projector is okay, but your home theatre would be much better with great home theatre audio. Would you add a 4K blu-ray player and start collecting a library of 4K movies to show on this 4K projector?

There are so many possibilities, and I didn’t even talk about home theatre seating. What would you consider adding to your home if you win this amazing projector?

  1. Along with the projector, I would add a projection screen and a good sound system. Of course, there would comfortable seating, a nice rug to soften the sound and a cozy area for pets.

  5. I’d probably have to add more “home” to my home but, barring that, surround sound would be the way to go!

  6. If I won this projector I would use it in my family room and would definitely have to buy theatre seating, a projections screen and a really good surround sound system.

If I won this projector, I’ll have my room set up will have to get a full hd screen for the best picture I can get, new 7.1 sound system and speakers then to make the lighting in the room with rgb lighting around the screen. The projector will be the center pice all that’s left is a new 4 seater home theater seating

  18. Definitely two gallons of silvery white paint, one indoor, one outdoor, 4K allows going big here, a 4K Blu-ray player, start a new 4K collection, more comfortable wireless headphones, a more powerful microwave to get those last unpopped kernels, maybe a mini-fridge? Movie night every night…

  20. Along with the projector, I would love a projection screen, surround sound system, 4K blu-ray player, 4K movies plus everything and anything else that would make the ultimate viewing experience.

  23. Without a doubt an Onyko nr676 with a complimentary surround including Atmos. a pull down screen. A smooth recliner and friends and family to enjoy the experience. Popcorn!

  29. I would add a playstation 4 pro for my 4k content. I would also add a surround sound system, buy two recliner chairs and some comfy blankets.

  34. I need reclining seats for the whole family and a really big popcorn machine. Surround sound is a must for the action packed movies our kids seem to love. I’m already clearing out my office to paint the largest wall in here white for the best show! We would never leave the house. I think we would leave it portable so in the summer we could take it outside. We live in the country and we could have the best parties with movies under the stars. We’d need to get a screen or a really big white sheet for that.

  40. Oh to dream is to dream big. If i won i would start by renovating my basement into a theater. With reclining seats and a authentic popcorn maker. A soft drink station and a bar for the adults. I would get a brand new sound system and curtains to go along either side of the wall to set the ambience.

  41. One of my favourite past times is watching movies. Some of my first memories where watching Star wars with my Parents and siblings. My brother is much older than me and had this every changing sound system in his room when i was a kid and was always trying to recreate the movie theatre experience. This has been a search of my own, Like Indiana Jones in the last Crusade, trying to find that perfect piece. This is why the BenQ Cinehome 4K UHD HDR home theatre projector is that perfect piece. It would ultimately capture my obsession of recreating the theatre experience.

    If I won the BenQ Cinehome 4K UHD HDR home theatre projector i would have my brother over to watch The Empire Strikes Back and try to repay him for the memories spent tweaking his own home theatre as a kid.

    Hook up the perfect sound with a Bose surround sound system and of course a automatic projection screen from the ceiling. Add a few of the classic snacks like fun dip and Reeces pieces and we are all set!

    Can’t forget about the 4K blue ray player! Just have to wait till Star Wars is released in 4K.

  43. I would need a huge projector screen surrounded by my favourite movie posters framed on the side walls with tiered theatre seating and theatre lighting. Dolby surround is a must and enough to make the house shake and neighbours jealous.

  47. I have the perfect white wall in our loft to use the BenQ 4K HDR home theatre Projector but, for the complete home theatre experience, I would need to invest in a surround sound system.
