DJI drones are versatile for photography and really fun to fly. Their newest model, the DJI Mavic Air 2, can film in 4K at 60 frames per second! That is seriously amazing. It can reach amazing heights, speeds, and distances, so it’s much more than a toy. However, when used responsibly it elevates your senses—you’ll feel like you’re a bird in the sky! Read more about the newest drone in the DJI family, then enter for a chance to win the demo model that we had reviewed on the blog.

What can you do with a drone

A drone is more than just a flying camera. It does fly; and it has a camera. But fly a drone and suddenly you realize this is a very unique experience. First there is the feeling of lift-off—you’ll never forget that surge of excitement. Remember you are in control, elevating, tilting, drifting to the left and right. There is a learning curve, but it’s not steep; quickly you adjust your perspective to react appropriately to capture the bird’s eye view of your surroundings. If you are able to use it near your home, you’ll will gain a new appreciation for the world around you. For me, rising about ten metres above my house allowed me to capture a view of several gulf islands including Saltspring and Pender.

DJI packs their drones with amazing features

With the new DJI Mavic Air 2, you will be able to do so much more than you might think from the moment you turn it on. It is so easy to use. We sent the prize for this contest to Shelly to test it out and she was amazed that she instantly was able to capture smooth, professional looking videos, right out of the box. Watch her video to see some of the images of her farm taken with the drone.

Shelly shows what’s included with the drone, how to assemble the drone, and offers some tips on how to fly it. She also speaks to many of the unique features that enable you to do some really interesting things with simple menu selections. I love the Helix Quickshot function!

The Mavic Air 2 has many features to help you get the most from flying it. It can even help you find safe flying areas near your home. This is very important; you will want to be sure about what areas near you allow drones and if there are maximum height restrictions too. 1. The Advanced Pilot Assistance System that is for obstacle avoidance would really help me, as we live in a heavily forested area.

  2. Love the fact the charger will charge the remote as well as the drone simultaneously. The 4k video shooting is great for detailed arial shots.

  3. I do not know anything about Drones so it would be a completely new experience for me. Therefore I would need to know everything possible about drones.

  4. The Auto take-off and auto-land features make it easy and safe for less experienced pilots to fly the drone. Considering my flying a big bonus.

  5. Wow, where do I begin. I’m a hobby photographer. I take photos of landscapes, family , friends etc nothing super professional I just enjoy capturing memories. Winning the DJI Mavic Air 2 would take my photography to a whole other level … literally. I love the Customization, HDR mode 4K option, the ability to take a 48mp photo. I’m mostly excited for the various video options. I have three little boys at home and I’m always trying to capture special memories with them and being able to perform video and photo footage from above would be amazing. I can just picture it now using the circle video option to focus on them on their trampoline and gain a whole different perspective. Just amazing. Thank you for this opportunity.

  6. Taking all kinds of different and great pics and videos from diff views (that smooth and steady) would be cool to win and do this.

  7. The obstacle avoidance feature is very cool — and for me, a clumsy person, I seriously appreciate that hahah. Thanks for this chance!

  8. I love the auto takeoff and land feature. This takes away part of the difficult starting off process for beginners and it is really easy to use.

  9. I would use it like a cheat sheet at Walt Disney Park telling people that certain rides have a shorter line up. I would love to win for it’s auto-return and obstacle avoidance

  10. I love the obstacle avoidance feature and that anyone – regardless of experience – can operate it.

  11. I live in a city. Not sure about privacy laws here. I like it and still am wondering about pre-programming for all kinds of lights situation. Glare and shadows.

  12. We love that we could take smooth professional videos of our daughter’s lake home area

  13. Amazing review, thank you Shelly!

I have to say the best feature I am most interested in is the ease of use. Although that may not be listed on the box, it certainly is something that I look forward too. I have tried a few drones in the past and this one seems to be the easiest to setup and use. All the other features speak for themselves and are certainly something I am looking forward to using.

I travel a lot to Tropical destinations and having a drone like this would be amazing to take arial photos/videos of the beauty that I am privileged to see. I would very much like to take some amazing media shots to show the rest of my family and friends the wonders I am experiencing so they can experience them through me.

I would be very grateful, should I be the winner, and thank you for allowing such an amazing contest.

  14. Shelly Wutke’s review of the DJI Mavic Air 2 Quadcopter Drone left me spellbound and wanting desperately to get my hands on one and take it for a spin! As an amateur drone pilot, I enjoyed Shelly’s review as it was both easy to read and thorough; engaging the reader with her own personal account of her time with the Mavic Air 2.

While leaving no stone unturned, Shelly outlined the Mavic Air 2’s specifications in a comprehensive and easy-to-read fashion, making it simple for a beginner like myself to keep up with this ever-changing world of drone flying. The fotos that accompanied the article were tasteful and purposeful: I could see clearly what it would look like to hold the controller in my hand and the position of the phone docked to it.

I found it extremely helpful and professional on Shelly’s part to have included the link to Canadian drone rules and a brief explanation of how they can be of use to drone flyers. It is important for novel flyers like myself to understand the rights and responsibilities of drone flying, and providing this list shows the dedication both Shelly and Best Buy have towards the community and the public at large.

This article wouldn’t have been complete to an amateur flyer, such as myself, were it not for the inclusion of an automatic take-off and landing feature on the Mavic Air 2! This paired with the obstacle avoidance feature really has me convinced that even with no flying skills at all, I could have safe, enjoyable fun with the Mavic Air 2 without worrying that I would break it on my first flights!

Lastly, the detailed list of the video features was quite exhaustive and was very helpful at comparing other video specifications from other drones available on the market. Learning of Tripod mode was a joy as it transported me to visions of panoramic scenery and breathtaking heights. Scene recognition, as described by Shelly, put it all together, and I was now certain that the Mavic Air 2 had all the qualities to capture the shots I have in my mind.
