Creating great video with a smartphone is easy when you have a DJI Osmo Mobile stabilizer. We did a review of the DJI OM3 a while back and now we are happy to announce that DJI just released the newest version: the OM4 Smartphone Stabilizer. The features of this new version of the DJI Osmo were kept a secret until the launch on August 26: but they did send me five to give away as prizes. So learn more about Osmo stabilizers then enter for a chance to win.

How easy is to use an Osmo Mobile smartphone stabilizer?

The Osmo Mobile smartphone stabilizer series are known for their ease of set up and for providing an inexpensive, easy to use way to shoot professional looking videos with just your smartphone. You know the problem we all have with phone videos: they are jittery, lose focus of the subject, etc. Capturing steady always-on-point videos by holding a phone in your hand is not easy. Mount the phone in an Osmo and suddenly a whole world of videography opens up. The gimble and software can keep the subject in the center of the field of view no matter if your hand is shaking or bouncing around. Imagine you are filming a lightning storm from a moving car on a bumpy road; with your smartphone in an Osmo Mobile the image is perfectly stable. It really does all the work; you just hold it in your hand and decide what to shoot.

DJI has created an amazing technology that keeps getting better with each iteration. Erin mentioned in her review of the Osmo Mobile 3 that the new features in that version made it more versatile. What will the Osmo Mobile 4 offer?

  1. I started vlogging for a while. I bought the previous version although it improved the quality of the channel a lot, there are still a few issues that the new version would solve for me.
The first is the magnetism (the quick pick-up option). I think maybe in everyday use, this will perhaps be one of the most important developments because there are a lot of situations that you can easily miss while assembling the gimbal.
The second is the stronger motor. Due to the vlog I have to use an external microphone when I am talking to the camera. Unfortunately, my phone with the mic cable weight, sometimes there is too much for the gimbal motors.

  2. Dynamic zoom and the gesture controls look awesome. I’ve had the Osmo 3 on my list of things to buy, but I’ve just changed it to an Osmo 4.

  3. Magnetic quick mount would be great for using my phone easily when I’m not recording. The DJI ActiveTrack 3.0 sounds great for helping record without needing to record longer than I need which is great for smaller video files to have to edit later.

  4. Top two features that would be great to evaluate would be the Activetrack 3.0 and the Dynamic zoom capabilities.

  5. The magnetic quick mount sounds quite handy for taking your phone on and off, and the Quick Roll feature sounds pretty cool for taking different types of videos!

  6. Man they keep on improving this thing. I would love to try the ActiveTrack 3.0 and CloneMe Pano. I wish I had those features in my older gimbal. Thanks.

  7. I love that it has a magnetic mount for larger smartphones. As well, having the Bluetooth connectivity is so convenient.

  8. my 2 picks are : Quick Roll lets you transition from landscape to portrait mode in an instant, and battery life (Lasts up to 15 hours on a single charge so you won’t have to worry about frequent recharging)

  9. Dynamic zoom and magnetic mount are awesome… no more edge of finger in pics and video! No more blai witch camera shake!

  10. I currently have the Osmo 3 and I can tell it’s an AMAZING gadget…a real piece of technology, so, I’m VERY excited about the new features of the Osmo 4, specially the magnetic mount, the timelapse modes and the Dynamic Zoom.

I just hope to be lucky enough to be the proud owner of this little guy (yeah, it’s really portable) and take out the best from it in the beautiful city of Vancouver!

  11. So many great features, but for me, I would like to try Dynamic Zoom and the Quick mount would really be great!!
