Philips Hue have revolutionized home lighting. We all grew up with few real lighting options in our home. Light on the ceiling, switch on the wall. On or off. In a few cases it may have had a dimmer switch, but that was rare. That light in the lamp brightens a room with the flick of a switch. That’s been a simple, convenient way to illuminate dark spaces inside and out. However, Philips Hue has increased the convenience exponentially. Increase the flexibility of home lighting, and even made home lighting fun! Enter our Philips Hue lights contest and find out for yourself how easily you can transform rooms in your home with Philips Hue.

Imagine what you can do with Philips Hue

I’m amazed at some of the creative applications people have found for Philips Hue. They installed light strips under counters and furniture for cool, colourful effects. They’ve added Philips Hue outdoors for safety, and for fun during festive days: go orange at the end of October, red and green in December!

People have also taken advantage of how other smart tech “plays nice” with Philips Hue. So you can control your lights using any smartphone since it works with Android and Apple products, or control with your voice using Google home or Amazon Echo—as I wish all tech was!

Importantly, Philips Hue is not just a colourful add-on to your existing “normal lighting.” In fact, you may be surprised that most of those ordinary lights in your home can be replaced with smart, multi-functional Philips Hue lights. Imagine you walk into the kitchen at 2:00 in the morning and you simply say, “Alexa, turn kitchen lights on at 20%,” and you have soft lighting as you let the dog outside. Or you drive home and as you approach the driveway, your outside lights, and inside light, turn on automatically!

  1. I am currently in the process of moving into a new unit. I would love to have the whole unit automated and smart, and I think the key essential would be to have the lights done first.

Automated hallway lights, & strips that activate at night for walking just to name a few things.

  2. I have just been awoken by this series of lights and absolutely LOVE them! I would buy any of them and am partial to the pendant but could use the outside one as well. Life changing light in our house …

  3. I want the play smart led bars. I would but them behind my tv and use it with the philips home app to get the colours reflecting what’s on the tv.

  4. The Philips hue play lightbar. I already have the lights and strips all throughout the house and I think the play bar would look great in the entertainment room or the computer room. All those colours!

  5. I have been using Phillips hue color Led pulps for over 2 years now and I absolutely love them. I bought it as an accessory for our Halloween party, but now it is a part of our daily life and we barely use our old school light switches anymore.

One of my recent favorites is the Philips Hue Signe Smart LED Table Lamp. It would look amazing on my sailboat display shelf as the colors would beautifully reflect off the white sails.

  6. My favorite product is the light strip.

What I would do is put under my bed and tell my son that it is a portal to different dimensions! I would tell him that I had worked it out with Captain America that if there was ever a time that the house was in danger, I would call “The Captain” and we would team up and defend the house together.

  7. Love the light bars – I would put them behind the TVs in our viewing spaces for ambience and a more immersive experience!

  8. I would love the Philips Hue Inara Smart Outdoor Wall Light. Now that it’s almost winter our house is so dark when I get home from work. It’d be nice to have the lights on when I get home!

  9. The Philips Hue LED Lightstrip Plus is my favourite.

I would use it throughout the living room to provide an immersive ambience when watching movies!

  10. Ive been looking at getting the light stips for a while now to accent my stairs and along my countertops. The outdoor lighting would be nice to see on the snow!

  11. I won’t lie, how can you pick one. I’ll narrow it down to 2. The first is that White Ambiance Cher Pendent, it would look great over our kitchen table, as we haven’t upgraded or changed any lights in our house since we bought it 12 years ago. I’d also like to use any of the outdoor lights (e.g. PAR 38) as being able to control them with our Google Home would be convenient, and neat.

      • I really do love the ambience of the Hue series. I would like to replace the bulbs in my hospice centre with those smart ceiling fixtures. I could program each room to work with the fitbit watches monitoring the ill. If I synchronize a steady increase in luminosity with the slowing of the pulse – it would really be a sensible send-off towards the light.

  12. I love the Philips Hue Go because I can move it around to any place in my home! I would use it in the bedroom and outside at the hot tub.

  13. I just closed on my first house a few hours ago! You can imagine all the plans I have for making it my own. Phillips Hue is definitely a part of those plans. I’d love to automate most of the lights inside and outside my home. I live in Labrador and shovelling is a huge part of it and I need good lighting outside (it also gets dark before 5pm this time of year). I’d like the SMART LED outdoor light strip to light my walkway. Maybe I shouldn’t say this, but I’m getting some Phillips Hue products whether I win or not =)

  14. I would love to have the Philip’s hue A19 white Ambiance starter kit (model no. 471994). In one of my rooms the light switch is in an alkward location and would be easier to just ask google to turn the light on. Also would use some of the bulbs in the bedroom as a light alarm in the morning.

  15. Philips Hue light bars… Two sets of them… One for each coffee table lighting the back wall… And two for cubbies on each side of my tv to back light the tv… Would be awesome..

  16. I am a fan of the Philips Hue Go. The versatility of being able to move it throughout the house, or even outside is fantastic. They also provide great uplighting. The whole line of products is fantastic.

  17. Call me old fashioned, but I would be most excited to outfit my place with the white/colour ambience bulbs so I could set mornings with lots of bright, blue light to stimulate the senses, and set dim, warm tones in the evening to promote melatonin release. I’m all about sleep optimization!

  18. Would love to have the the outdoor strip lights to place on my deck steps for safety and also to create an interesting ambiance on the deck.

  19. It’s great to see Phillips getting into outdoor lighting, I can see using the Smart LED Outdoor Light Strip with a with a timer routine (no outdoor motion sensor yet) to light the path along the side of the house.

  20. Philips hue colour bulbs. I would put them in my room and set them for sun rise and sun set. It would be easier to wake up to a sun rise than a dark room on winter mornings.

  21. I would want the starter kit with a coloured bulb and start putting them into fixtures all over the house to further all the smart home equipment.

  22. I love the Phillips Hue Lightstrip Plus 80″

I would put it on my kitchen under the cabinets and above the counter to get a cool look going for the kitchen, maybe sync it with some music and my Google home.

  23. I would love the LED Smart Mirror, perfect for making sure I look set for the day when I’m in a rush out! I currently have the set of 4 ambient lights – a life changer as I don’t get enough light and it helps recreate sunrises perfectly and integrates into my smart home automation easily. So if one set of basic lights has already done so much, this kit would blow my mind!

  24. I would love the Philips Hue Adore White Ambiance Integrated LED Smart Wall Mirror to be in our bathroom. It will help set my mood while relaxing in the tub after a long day with kids.
