Philips Hue have revolutionized home lighting. We all grew up with few real lighting options in our home. Light on the ceiling, switch on the wall. On or off. In a few cases it may have had a dimmer switch, but that was rare. That light in the lamp brightens a room with the flick of a switch. That’s been a simple, convenient way to illuminate dark spaces inside and out. However, Philips Hue has increased the convenience exponentially. Increase the flexibility of home lighting, and even made home lighting fun! Enter our Philips Hue lights contest and find out for yourself how easily you can transform rooms in your home with Philips Hue.

Imagine what you can do with Philips Hue

I’m amazed at some of the creative applications people have found for Philips Hue. They installed light strips under counters and furniture for cool, colourful effects. They’ve added Philips Hue outdoors for safety, and for fun during festive days: go orange at the end of October, red and green in December!

People have also taken advantage of how other smart tech “plays nice” with Philips Hue. So you can control your lights using any smartphone since it works with Android and Apple products, or control with your voice using Google home or Amazon Echo—as I wish all tech was!

Importantly, Philips Hue is not just a colourful add-on to your existing “normal lighting.” In fact, you may be surprised that most of those ordinary lights in your home can be replaced with smart, multi-functional Philips Hue lights. Imagine you walk into the kitchen at 2:00 in the morning and you simply say, “Alexa, turn kitchen lights on at 20%,” and you have soft lighting as you let the dog outside. Or you drive home and as you approach the driveway, your outside lights, and inside light, turn on automatically!

  1. I would wrap the outdoor light strip around the tree trunk in my front garden, then i can change the colours for Christmas or Halloween etc!

  2. I’ve wanted the Philips Hue colour bulbs and Lightstrip Plus for so long now!!! As a designer, I often get really stressed and I find that ambient mood lighting is exactly what I need to relax. I would put the Lightstrip behind my drafting table so I would have a nice glow while I’m working and the bulbs in my desk light, overhead light, and bedside lamp. I especially love the sunset theme you can set the lights to!

  3. I would love the Philips Hue Adore White Ambiance Integrated LED Smart Wall Mirror for my bathroom, it would make applying make up so much easier and it would also be nice to have softer light when I relax in the tub

  4. I finally decided to take the plunge and DIY my dream home theater with a projector setup. I would love to use the Philips hue light strips (will need quite a few about 10m) to backlight the projector screen for ambient light or to enhance movie watching experience. I would also like to incorporate Philips hue outdoor light strips or any of the outdoor lighting products as once the warm weather rolls round, I have to begin working on outdoor projects.

  5. I love the Phillips hue led strips cause of the wide color scheme to choose from and how I can attach it to almost anything

  6. I love the Philips Hue Play Smart LED Light Bar Kit and it would be so cool to put them behind my TV and on my media cabinet! It would be awesome to watch music videos, play videogames, and for movie night atmosphere.

  7. That white and colour starter kit is might tempting. I’d probably build a path to the bathroom so in the middle of the night I could use my Google assistant to use dim lighting to guide me there!

  8. Our entire house is done with Hue: we have colour lights for the bedroom, living room, chandelier and mancave, ambient lights for the bathroom with the motion sensor and a few regular bulbs spread around the kitchen and hallways. Our son loves when we change the colours or even when we yell for Alexa to turn off all the lights. The ease of setup and use as well as the functionality have been incredible. Weve had Hue for over a year and will never go back to regular bulbs!

  9. The Hue I have my eye on is the Smart LED Outdoor Light Strip. In the warmer months my favourite spot is our patio, so it would add another layer of ambiance to my favourite space. Plus in the winter time it would add to our Halloween and Christmas decorations!

  10. I already have some white + colour bulbs and absolutely love them. That being said, I’ve been looking to replace my ceiling lamp in my bedroom as its design and function doesn’t fit anymore, and it looks like hue makes a perfect alternative!

  11. I’d use the Philips Hue Go Portable Smart LED Light (798835) to illuminate my kitchen sink. Stupidly the builders didn’t put any lights there apart from a row of sunken ceiling lights which are at my back when I’m working at the sink which is then in shadow!

  12. The Phillips hue light strips sounds cool! I would put them by the cabinets or along the living room wall behind the couch

  13. I dont have any Hue lights yet buy im really considering trying out the starter kit for our new place. They’ll definitely be in my lovingroom and office.

  14. I like the Hue Go because it can go anywhere, but I also love the fact that a Hue bulb makes any light a smart light. Our living room could use more light, so I’d start there

  15. I have the philpps hue lights strip and having had used other smart lights from other companies, the compatibility of this brand to the Google Home is remarkable!

  16. I’m a fan of the light strip (for around my entertainment center) and the bloom lights for my board game area! Would love to program some mood lights for my game sessions with friends!

  17. AhhhhhahahahajahhhhjjjjjjAAAA so many awesome products to choose from! I’d love to use the hue lightstrip in my 60s jukebox! Or the new play behind my TV. Or create a mini light setup when mixing music at home. Or some new outdoor lighting. I use the standard hue color bulbs in my living room & bedroom, What a difference!

  18. The Hue Play Light Bars, as I want to create an incredibly immersive home cinema. I have Hue lights above the TV, and with the Play Bars on each side I’ll be able to totally control the ambience of my room as well as sync it with my TV.

  19. The Philips Hue Adore White Ambiance Integrated LED Smart Wall Mirror is my favourite. I’d looove to get ready with that.

  20. I would like A19 light and colors in every socket, and a light strip under my kitchen cabinets. I love the idea of automating all my lighting

  21. My favourite Phillips Hue Light is the “Philips Hue White Ambiance Fair Dimmable LED Smart Semi-Flushmount Fixture – Aluminium.” I can place it in my room on the ceiling because I do not have a ceiling light and have been receiving basic lighting through table lamps.

  22. My favourite lights would be Philips Hue PAR16 Add-On Smart LED Light Bulbs. These bulbs mixed in with the Philips HUE Smart LED Wireless Dimmer Switch would be perfect for my kitchen and hallway lighting. Some of our lights in our house are unusable because the Two way light controls or switches are made with cheap plastic and are breaking. With Phillips Hue solution the less touching of the switches or controls the longer they will last and we could control lighting from an app. How cool is that?

  23. My fiancee and I just bought a house, so I’d love to use the regular bulbs in our living room and set up scenes/routines with Google assistant. “Hey Google, we’re watching a movie”, and have the lights go warm and dim the brightness!

  24. Our favorite is the Philips Hue Go Portable Smart LED Light (798835) – Multi-colour and we would put it in our baby girl’s room so if we have to get her at night we can see without turning on the bedroom light and fully waking her up.

  25. I am finally building my dream gaming set up and will try to start streaming my gameplay!! I think the Philips Hue Play Smart LED Light Bar Kit would be a great addition to the set up being able to control and blend with the actual content I’m playong! These are amazing

  26. I would most definitively pick the Hue Adore Wall Mirror Lamp.
The girlfriend would be very happy to have it in the bedroom. It would really but a big smile in her face. 🙂

  27. Philips Hue Play Smart LED Light Bar Kit – 2 Pack – Black for stereo wall lighting beside the tv using Hue Sync 🙂

  28. I’d be really excited to have the light strip to put around the tv to set the mood for the movie theme when the family is over watching movies together!

  29. The starter kit would be great for the living room, especially with the candelabra in some lamps and Google home to control it all
