Defender has a long tradition of making high quality home security cameras that are affordable for home owners. I recently tested two Defender systems on the Best Buy Blog and was impressed with the ease of setup and the high-quality video captured by these devices. Defender just released a new camera at Best Buy, the Defender Guard Indoor/Outdoor IP Camera, and we have two to give away in this contest.

Defender security cameras deliver great value for homeowners

As Editor-in-Chief on the blog, I get many of the main brands of security cameras on my desk and have tested most of them myself. I have to say that Best Buy does have a great selection of home security cameras, and the Defender brand is right up there with the best for how easy they are to set up and use, and how great the image quality is.

Defender 4K wired cameraI have reviewed two different types of Defender systems on the blog. One of these was a wired system with four 4k cameras that all connected to a DVR. I pointed out scenarios where this type of system might be a homeowner’s best bet for great security. I also showed the steps for setting it up and getting the most from that system.

Defender Wireless 2K cameraThe second Defender system that I reviewed was a 2k wireless outdoor camera. That camera is easier to install than a wired system, as it sends the video stream over the internet. It shares a very key feature with the other system that I reviewed though: it does not require any additional fees for cloud storage (something many other camera systems do require). That means once you pay for the camera, you do not have to pay for anything else to use the camera and get maximum security benefits (you do need home internet, but I’m assuming most people have that these days).

New Defender Guard Camera will be perfect for most homeowners

As I said at the beginning, Defender just released a new camera at Best Buy. The Defender Guard Wireless 2K Camera shares many of the features with the 2k camera that I recently reviewed. It too has on-camera storage via a 16GB microSD card (expandable to 128GB). It has the same great video quality that I described in my review too, with incredible 16x zoom and crystal clear night vision. The camera will even record the voices and sounds of people being recorded. Crystal clear video and audio will be great tools to help identify who was on your property, or what animal knocked over the garbage bins—animal issues are a big concern around my home!

Check out the information section on the product page to learn about some of its other great features, like a wide field of view, IP67 ratings providing resistance to all forms of weather, etc.

What are your security concerns that could be addressed with a Defender security camera? Enter this contest and you may soon be able to take care of them if you win one of these prizes. And if you don’t win, well, Defender cameras are reasonably priced, and once you buy one, you will not be paying any additional fees for video storage.

How to enter

Entering this contest is really easy, but you can only enter once. In a comment below, tell us what security concerns around your home you would like to address if you win a Defender camera in this contest.

What you can win

At the end of this contest we will select two winners from all eligible entries. Each winner will receive a Defender Guard Indoor/Outdoor IP Camera.

This contest runs from September 27th until October 14th.

Remember, you can only enter once. However, you probably know someone who would love to install a new security camera around their home. Perhaps their neighbourhood has seen some break-ins recently. Perhaps a camera can bring them some peace of mind. Share this contest article with them so they too have a chance to win.

  1. This would give me peace of mind while I sleep. There are no windows on the back of my house. Having a camera back there would help me rest easy at night.

  2. There have been several vehicles broke into during the night this would be great to keep an eye on the garage and side gate of our home.

  3. My main security concerns around our home that I would like to address if I won a Defender camera in this contest is THEFT. There tends to be a lot of petty theft in our area, and it s a huge concern to me!

  5. My 75 year old mother in law recently became widowed . With that being said I would feel much more eased having a few cameras around the house for her .Both for safety , and piece of mind !!

  6. We park or cars out side in front and would like to have a camera there. There has been more theiving in our town as this year the built a homeless shelter. We have many homeless in our city. In back we keep our bikes and there is a shed with valuables we would also like a camera for. thanks

  7. Living in a neighborhood where there is alot of theft and attempted break ins it would keep my children and myself safer.

  8. We live near a golf course and often get wild animals like coyotes and skunks wandering through our yard. A security camera would help with keeping our dog safe while she is out in our backyard.

  9. Good to keep an eye on side of the house, had 3 break in attempts in the past. Wireless will solve many problems, as our wired cctv has some sort of issues with the cables every now and then.

  10. The Defender camera would be great for us. Our security concerns are leaving the house unattended while going to the camp on the weekends. Having the Defender Guard Indoor/Outdoor IP Camera would allow us to enjoy our time away, without having to worry about our home.

  11. This camera system will add to the Newfoundland Dog security alarm I have now The deep bark of a dog and lots of slobber and the large squishable minefield it leaves behind

  12. I would use the Defender camera to keep an eye on my front door. Package pirates beware!!! Thanks for the opportunity! Best Buy rocks!

  13. This would be for my grandson who lives alone on an acreage and is away from home a lot and desperately needs this kind of security.

  14. My backyard backs onto a forested ravine, so I would like security camera coverage on that area in case someone takes advantage of the cover it affords to break into my home

  15. Our shed hot broken into last year and we lost a lot of music equipment. Security cameras would sure put our minds at ease.
