Defender has a long tradition of making high quality home security cameras that are affordable for home owners. I recently tested two Defender systems on the Best Buy Blog and was impressed with the ease of setup and the high-quality video captured by these devices. Defender just released a new camera at Best Buy, the Defender Guard Indoor/Outdoor IP Camera, and we have two to give away in this contest.

Defender security cameras deliver great value for homeowners

As Editor-in-Chief on the blog, I get many of the main brands of security cameras on my desk and have tested most of them myself. I have to say that Best Buy does have a great selection of home security cameras, and the Defender brand is right up there with the best for how easy they are to set up and use, and how great the image quality is.

Defender 4K wired cameraI have reviewed two different types of Defender systems on the blog. One of these was a wired system with four 4k cameras that all connected to a DVR. I pointed out scenarios where this type of system might be a homeowner’s best bet for great security. I also showed the steps for setting it up and getting the most from that system.

Defender Wireless 2K cameraThe second Defender system that I reviewed was a 2k wireless outdoor camera. That camera is easier to install than a wired system, as it sends the video stream over the internet. It shares a very key feature with the other system that I reviewed though: it does not require any additional fees for cloud storage (something many other camera systems do require). That means once you pay for the camera, you do not have to pay for anything else to use the camera and get maximum security benefits (you do need home internet, but I’m assuming most people have that these days).

New Defender Guard Camera will be perfect for most homeowners

As I said at the beginning, Defender just released a new camera at Best Buy. The Defender Guard Wireless 2K Camera shares many of the features with the 2k camera that I recently reviewed. It too has on-camera storage via a 16GB microSD card (expandable to 128GB). It has the same great video quality that I described in my review too, with incredible 16x zoom and crystal clear night vision. The camera will even record the voices and sounds of people being recorded. Crystal clear video and audio will be great tools to help identify who was on your property, or what animal knocked over the garbage bins—animal issues are a big concern around my home!

Check out the information section on the product page to learn about some of its other great features, like a wide field of view, IP67 ratings providing resistance to all forms of weather, etc.

What are your security concerns that could be addressed with a Defender security camera? Enter this contest and you may soon be able to take care of them if you win one of these prizes. And if you don’t win, well, Defender cameras are reasonably priced, and once you buy one, you will not be paying any additional fees for video storage.

How to enter

Entering this contest is really easy, but you can only enter once. In a comment below, tell us what security concerns around your home you would like to address if you win a Defender camera in this contest.

What you can win

At the end of this contest we will select two winners from all eligible entries. Each winner will receive a Defender Guard Indoor/Outdoor IP Camera.

This contest runs from September 27th until October 14th.

Remember, you can only enter once. However, you probably know someone who would love to install a new security camera around their home. Perhaps their neighbourhood has seen some break-ins recently. Perhaps a camera can bring them some peace of mind. Share this contest article with them so they too have a chance to win.

  1. There’s a lot of theft in our rural community. Sometime there are odd tracks from vehicles in yard. It would be nice to view who was on our property

  2. our dog barks excessively in the middle of the night on occassion- I’d like to determine which animal is causing the issue (rats, raccoons, deer or bear).

  3. I would use this for outdoor use. We need a monitoring solution for our back yard, as someone stole our kayak this summer 🙁

  4. A lot of crime in our area lately.. the police drove up our street the other night with their spotlight on, which went through our yard. I would like the camera to see what they were looking at!

  5. The security concerns around our home I would like to address if I win a Defender camera in this contest would be stolen parcels/deliveries left at our front door

  6. I have a big back yard that is really dark and has a lot of trees so a Defender camera would definitely give me some peace of mind.

  7. My dh pasted away in Jan. This would give me peace of mind when i am at work, and at night now that I am at home alone. Crime has gone up in our area, with break-ins this past year. People parking in driveways at night and scooping places out.

  8. We just recently had a break into one of our neighbours cars. A security camera could have come in handy. Thanks for the chance to win

  9. I am a survivor of an awful attack back in 2006. After an 7 or 8 year court battle the perpetrator served a very short jail sentence & is still out there. I would love to feel safe in my residence and if possible catch the perpetrator around my property.

  10. Our biggest security issue would be bears. We have many beards that come way to close to the house and with small children I get extremely nervous. Good luck everyone

  11. I get a lot of packages delivered toy house. I would like to make sure people aren’t going to take them when I’m not home, especially at Christmas time
