Have you considered making your garage smart using a Chamberlain Garage Door Opener? Perhaps you are like Matt who recently reviewed the new MyQ Garage Door Opener on the blog. He did a detailed installation video and discusses each step involved and shows all of the great features of this door opener. At the end of his post, he laments not having added one of these sooner for the convenience and safety it offers. Read on to learn more, then enter for a chance to make your garage smart with Chamberlain.

What are the advantages of a smart garage door opener

The term “smart” is often applied to devices we can control in several ways, including using an app on our phones. So the first advantage of the Chamberlain MyQ garage door opener is that you don’t need to look around for the remote to open the garage: your phone is always with you so you always can control the door. Share the app with members of your family and they always have the ability to get into the garage. Also the app is secure: likely much more secure than a keypad controller.

Smart devices also often have unique features built in to add convenience. The Chamberlain MyQ app will show if the door is open or closed. This is a nice feature if you left home and forgot to close it. Even better, the Chamberlain Garage Door opener has a camera. Imagine that you left home, notice on the app that the door is still open and want to close it. However, you know it’s not safe to close the door without checking that it’s safe. With the camera, you can watch it within the app as it closes, knowing 100% that nothing, and no adult or child, will be harmed.

Installing a smart device at this time of year makes perfect sense

Fall is the best season to install smart devices for several reasons. For most of us, travel season is over, the kids are in school and back into their regular sports practices, weekend games, piano lessons, and homework, homework, homework. You are running around from one location to another and will easily forget to lock doors or close the garage as you leave. These are the times when thieves thrive. But a smart home is a more secure home. A thieves worst nightmare. Cameras capture their images; smart lights scare them off; smart doors keep them out!

And most smart devices are quick and easy to install. Admittedly, there is a range of difficulty levels and a smart garage door opener is on the more complicated side of that range. In his review article and video, Matt explains the entire process. He didn’t do this alone, and you should consider asking a friend to help too. Follow the steps and you will soon have the garage door opener that homeowners dream of! Here is Matt’s video. Watch it, then return to this article to enter the contest for your chance to win one.

  1. I like that the The Chamberlain MyQ smart garage door opener comes with a 2000 lumen LED dual lamp (no more climbing ladders to replace light bulbs yay!).

  2. I have two, one is an Alexa and one is my Ring floodlight. I like to be able to look out front on my camera to see what is happening at the front of my house and I can use Alexa for music or weather checks.

  3. I have the older version MyQ . Seven years so far no problems what so ever, would like to upgrade to a newer model with a camera.

  5. just a smart TV so far but they allow you to manage devices while away from home which is very helpful for forgetful people

  6. too many to count from smart plugs to smart TV to Smart Fridge to Smart Camera to Smart Thermostat and they are all great because they let me manage it all remotely

  7. We have multiple smart devices in our house; TV, switches, plugs, fireplace. I love the convenience of being able to use my phone to switch things on, schedule lights and put them on vacation mode.

  8. Being able to use my smartphone to open and close my garage door would be an incredible convenience. I ride a motorcycle and I have a phone holder on my handlebars. I don’t have a holder for a garage door opener and I don’t have room for one. It’s not convenient to take off my glove, reach into my pocket for the opener and push the button. This would be great.

  9. I only have a smart phone and my son has a smart watch. I would love to have a smart garage door opener. I can’t count how many times I have to turn around and go back home to check if my garage door is closed.!

  10. There are about 10 that I use. I like them since I can be doing something and still tell them to do something for me.

  11. i have as much as i can- over a dozen all in.
it’s great having hands free stuff when multitasking

  12. I have a smart phone and I simply love it I can do work on it, stay in touch with friends and family i also use it as a calculator, a flashlight and create letters and documents and print from it among many other things I’d be lost without it.

  13. I have a lot of smart devices including lights, outlets, thermostat, speakers, tv’s, doorbell, cameras etc. – I find them to be extremely useful for everyday use, saving resources, keeping my property safe and convenience.

  14. We have smart locks and door bell, Makes it easy to check if the door is locked at night instead of getting out of bed ! Would love the smart garage opener

  15. I have one so far, Ring is what I have. Hubby doesn’t care for tech items, I like it just makes my life run easily

  16. currently zero. While I like the idea for the garage door opener like this, I will have to kick my aversion to smart phones after having broke free from over 20 years of being chained to first a cell phone the BB etc 24/7 in my previous profession.
