Have you considered making your garage smart using a Chamberlain Garage Door Opener? Perhaps you are like Matt who recently reviewed the new MyQ Garage Door Opener on the blog. He did a detailed installation video and discusses each step involved and shows all of the great features of this door opener. At the end of his post, he laments not having added one of these sooner for the convenience and safety it offers. Read on to learn more, then enter for a chance to make your garage smart with Chamberlain.

What are the advantages of a smart garage door opener

The term “smart” is often applied to devices we can control in several ways, including using an app on our phones. So the first advantage of the Chamberlain MyQ garage door opener is that you don’t need to look around for the remote to open the garage: your phone is always with you so you always can control the door. Share the app with members of your family and they always have the ability to get into the garage. Also the app is secure: likely much more secure than a keypad controller.

Smart devices also often have unique features built in to add convenience. The Chamberlain MyQ app will show if the door is open or closed. This is a nice feature if you left home and forgot to close it. Even better, the Chamberlain Garage Door opener has a camera. Imagine that you left home, notice on the app that the door is still open and want to close it. However, you know it’s not safe to close the door without checking that it’s safe. With the camera, you can watch it within the app as it closes, knowing 100% that nothing, and no adult or child, will be harmed.

Installing a smart device at this time of year makes perfect sense

Fall is the best season to install smart devices for several reasons. For most of us, travel season is over, the kids are in school and back into their regular sports practices, weekend games, piano lessons, and homework, homework, homework. You are running around from one location to another and will easily forget to lock doors or close the garage as you leave. These are the times when thieves thrive. But a smart home is a more secure home. A thieves worst nightmare. Cameras capture their images; smart lights scare them off; smart doors keep them out!

And most smart devices are quick and easy to install. Admittedly, there is a range of difficulty levels and a smart garage door opener is on the more complicated side of that range. In his review article and video, Matt explains the entire process. He didn’t do this alone, and you should consider asking a friend to help too. Follow the steps and you will soon have the garage door opener that homeowners dream of! Here is Matt’s video. Watch it, then return to this article to enter the contest for your chance to win one.

  1. Currrently only 1 smart device but looking to add more. It just makes life easier ny taking care of tasks I would have done previously.

  2. Probably 15-20 smart devices, but nothing in the garage. I’d like to be able to tell when I left the garage door open after I leave, which seems to happen around a dozen times per year…

  3. Honestly, aside from a couple of televisions, there are no smart devices in our home. The Chamberlain smart garage door opener would be a great initial start. No additional remote, and certainly easier than the manual method that we now apply.

  4. I’m new to the smart devices, having only 2. But love this one, especially being able to use phone for the garage.

  5. We have 2 smart devices. One works great, the other not so much. Probably because I’m not that tech savvy. A garage opener would be a sweet addition.

  6. We have too many to count, but I will say I have 10 Smart Home devices in my home. The biggest advantage is being able to control them from anyplace that I am at. So when outside the home, whether I am across the world or at the local grocery store, I can reset or turn on lights or heating etc. I can also feel secure watching the camera for any action that I am not expecting at my home.

  7. We have many Smart devices in our home. We just moved and upgraded where we could. Smart devices just make life easier, don’t they 🙂

  8. I have at least 5 or 6.. and I’m planning to get more… But if I get the garage opener, I’ll give it to my father in-law

  9. I have about 4 smart devices in my home. I think they help make life easier (don’t have to remember to do things manually)

  10. I have 4 smart water sensors and a smart thermostat. The water sensors are great for the security of knowing I’ll know if there’s anything wrong or if there are leaks and protect my home. The thermostat helps with energy efficiency and automating!

  11. I probably have about 15+ smart devices if you include all the google homes/alexas/plugs/light bulbs.
The biggest advantage is that they can all interact with each other and I can control them all by my voice or by an app. Even if I am across the world.

  12. I have 4 smart devices at home that make it efficient to turn on and off specific things in the house which can save energy. I like the feature of inviting a co-owner best to add friends and family.

  13. Around 9 smart devices, they make it easier to communicate, access information remotely and energy efficient home.

  14. I have 3 smart devices (2 cameras and 1 thermostat). They make like easier because I can control the thermostat from anywhere (on my phone app) and can see what is happening (such as if a package has been delivered or who is at the front door).

  15. I have three smart devices in my home and the biggest advantage is how easy and convenient it is to be in control of things like house temperature and security cameras.

  16. We have six smart devices, they just make life easier! Love asking to have patio and other lights on and off!

  17. I have about 30 smart devices, they make my life easier by automating a lot of tasks I would have to do manually!

  18. I have two smart devices in my home and the advantage of them is that I can control them from anywhere.

  19. Benefit is automation and security. Currently have about 25 smart home devices ranginf from Exho Dots to smart switchs and plugs

  20. Have 5-6 smart devices in our home – one that is getting pretty useful is the Alexa notifications to help get our kids to come down for a meal. Saves us having to go upstairs over and over again… :).

  21. I have 3 smart devices in my home which make my home safer, more efficient (energy & time) and give me peace of mind!

  22. We have 1 smart device, a motion sensor outside of our back door. It is great, especially when we get home and it is dark, also for our sweet dog when she goes out to do her business.

  23. Our neighbor is a paraplegic, and he does drive and has a garage. His life would be so much easier if he could just use his phone to open the garage door. I would love to win this and give it to him for Christmas or his birthday. He is a great guy,

  24. No smart devices yet. But we do need a new garage opener and this one would be great.love the idea of a camera.
