Have you considered making your garage smart using a Chamberlain Garage Door Opener? Perhaps you are like Matt who recently reviewed the new MyQ Garage Door Opener on the blog. He did a detailed installation video and discusses each step involved and shows all of the great features of this door opener. At the end of his post, he laments not having added one of these sooner for the convenience and safety it offers. Read on to learn more, then enter for a chance to make your garage smart with Chamberlain.

What are the advantages of a smart garage door opener

The term “smart” is often applied to devices we can control in several ways, including using an app on our phones. So the first advantage of the Chamberlain MyQ garage door opener is that you don’t need to look around for the remote to open the garage: your phone is always with you so you always can control the door. Share the app with members of your family and they always have the ability to get into the garage. Also the app is secure: likely much more secure than a keypad controller.

Smart devices also often have unique features built in to add convenience. The Chamberlain MyQ app will show if the door is open or closed. This is a nice feature if you left home and forgot to close it. Even better, the Chamberlain Garage Door opener has a camera. Imagine that you left home, notice on the app that the door is still open and want to close it. However, you know it’s not safe to close the door without checking that it’s safe. With the camera, you can watch it within the app as it closes, knowing 100% that nothing, and no adult or child, will be harmed.

Installing a smart device at this time of year makes perfect sense

Fall is the best season to install smart devices for several reasons. For most of us, travel season is over, the kids are in school and back into their regular sports practices, weekend games, piano lessons, and homework, homework, homework. You are running around from one location to another and will easily forget to lock doors or close the garage as you leave. These are the times when thieves thrive. But a smart home is a more secure home. A thieves worst nightmare. Cameras capture their images; smart lights scare them off; smart doors keep them out!

And most smart devices are quick and easy to install. Admittedly, there is a range of difficulty levels and a smart garage door opener is on the more complicated side of that range. In his review article and video, Matt explains the entire process. He didn’t do this alone, and you should consider asking a friend to help too. Follow the steps and you will soon have the garage door opener that homeowners dream of! Here is Matt’s video. Watch it, then return to this article to enter the contest for your chance to win one.

  14. We don’t have that many smart devices yet — our home security system (no camera, but allows us to enable it on our phones) and a lighting system in my office is about it so far. Would definitely love to make our home smarter, as it just makes things easier and more accessible!

I find the biggest advantage of using them is the freedom to choose how you want to use them; from a remote location, from an app, from another smart device (hub) or directly on the device… and on top of it all, you can automate/program them to your liking. All this brings a peace of mind to me.
