AI is coming to the world of health and fitness in a big way with the new iFIT 2.0. This updated software reimagines the user experience and works with the company’s smart NordicTrack and ProForm home fitness products. At the heart of the software is iFIT’s new AI Coach. It recommends workouts based on your goals, lifestyle, and fitness level to help motivate you to achieve your desired outcomes.

What comes with iFIT 2.0?

iFIT 2.0 app with Workout Creator

The iFIT 2.0 upgrades has many new features to make your fitness experience more enjoyable and effective. Let’s dive into everything it has to offer.

AI Coach

The most exciting new feature is AI Coach. Answer some questions from the AI Coach named Tailor and it will scan the iFIT library to find the perfect workouts to help you achieve your specific fitness goals. The AI Coach communicates with you via text messages, designed to keep you accountable and engaged. Once it knows your goals, it provides daily workout plans and sends encouraging and motivational messages. The recommendations pop up automatically on your equipment’s screen when it’s time to tackle your next workout. AI Coach is effectively a chatbot for fitness machines and a great accountability partner. The feature is currently in beta mode and only available in the U.S. for now, but it marks the future of at-home workouts.

SmartAdjust™ technology

Newer NordicTrack and ProForm machines already automatically adjust the speed, incline, and/or resistance based on what’s happening on screen. For a hiking class, for example, a treadmill will rise in incline in line with the trail you’re following. With iFIT’s SmartAdjust, your workout is now automatically updated based on your history and how you adjust your speed, incline, or decline during your workout. Over time, this technology establishes a baseline, then alters your workouts for you as you progress, truly learning as you adjust the settings for a customized experience.

ActivePulse™ technology

Staying in your target heart rate zone is a big part of getting results while working out. This technology monitors your heart rate in real-time and adjusts the intensity of the workout to help you remain in the proper heart rate zone. Access to this technology requires a heart rate monitor, which is sold separately by iFIT.

You can build custom training intervals and save them for when you want to follow your own plan. Think something like “Post Baby Workout” or “Steady State Cardio.” You can also create workouts based on time, calories, or distance goals. Once inputted, you can learn what’s needed to reach that goal. The compatible NordicTrack and ProForm machines also sync with third-party apps like Strava, Garmin, Google Fit, and Apple Health so your metrics are viewable alongside other data captured by these apps. The Workout Creator feature is only available on iFIT-enabled treadmills, but iFIT says it’s coming soon for their bikes, rowers, and ellipticals.

Other benefits of iFIT 2.0

iFIT 2.0 showing the Bottom Bar

iFIT 2.0 is not just about AI. There are other benefits that users, new and existing, will enjoy.

Screens: You can use these machines with your tablet or smartphone (not all new iFIT 2.0 features will be available with smaller or separate screens). Many machines, however, come with a built-in touchscreen as large as 24 inches in size. Use this screen to follow iFIT’s vast library of trainer-led classes, which includes more than 10,000 options from hiking and biking to strength training and yoga.

Additional streaming options: If you’re looking for entertainment while you do casual cardio, like a brisk 45-minute walk on a treadmill, you can watch or listen to streaming content from services like Netflix and Spotify on your machine. You control playback through the interface, including skipping forward and back and pausing without ever having to leave the workout.

New look and feel: The intuitive new look includes a bottom bar on the screen with simple access to workout settings. You can more easily adjust the workout, no matter which app you’re using, including customizing what metrics you see. That bottom bar can also be used to switch between apps easily.

Faster, more responsive: iFIT says that the new software not only has a new look and feel, but will also be more responsive and has faster loading times. This allows you to get in, get out, and cross that workout off your to-do list in a snap.

New stats and notifications: iFIT 2.0 offers a new overview once you finish a challenge or series, showing the work you have accomplished. You can also receive notifications for the latest updates, when new content has been added. Plus, with a new QR code method, you can easily log in through Apple or Google.
