Blu-Ray players used to be just that, able to only play Blu-Ray discs. Blu-Ray players today come with a myriad of additional capabilities and Samsung’s BD-H6500 is no exception. It is fully loaded and is 4K Ultra HD ready so if you have a 4K TV or plan to get one in the future this is the ideal Blu-Ray media player. One of the great things about this player is that it will upconvert HD content to be much closer to UHD resolution. It is loaded with other features too. Although it costs a little bit more than most other Blu-Ray players, I got my hands on one and given all its features and capabilities it is a great buy.

Roku is releasing a new Streaming Stick device in Canada this month, and aside from its diminutive size and powerful performance, a neat added feature is the ability to use the free Roku app on your smartphone or tablet (iOS or Android) to listen to the audio of whatever you’re watching using.

    You may be thinking it will be a little while before you can afford an upgrade to a stunning 4K UHD new technology TV. That time may be closer than you think with LG’s new 4K 55” 3D Smart TV (55UB8500). They have priced it very aggressively while keeping all the excellent features that you could want in such a TV. It is one of the lowest priced 4K TV’s on the market and comes as a WebOS powered Smart TV, an IPS panel, and passive 3D. This is probably the best value 4K TV on the market.

  CES 2015 started today and LG made some big announcements about where they are going with their TV lineup. CES always provides an excellent preview of what the upcoming year will bring. It looks like 4K is going mainstream, which isn’t a big surprise. But where LG is going with 4K is a bit of a surprise, and a nice one at that!

  VIZIO has been one of the top 3 TV and Home Theatre brands in the US since 2007. They are currently #2 overall in the US and #1 in Smart TVs and in Soundbars. VIZIO have been known for aggressively pricing their TVs while not sacrificing quality or innovation, so it is nice to see that they are now showing up in Canada. 

For those looking for big picture, getting past 75” can get quite costly; you’re stepping up into panels that are larger, heavier, and eat up a lot of power. I should know, I recently upgraded to a VIZIO M70-C3 and I’m loving it. But my heart has always been with home theatre projector. In the right environment, a projector can give you a picture that is bright and beautiful, at screen sizes that are metaphorically bank-breaking when you try to spec them out with a panel. Best Buy sent over the BenQ HT3050 for me to review. I did; read on to see how it performed.
