Remote controlled planes and helicopters have been around for many years but they never caused the frenzy that we have seen with drones. They have invaded our psyche and become a part of our culture. This is the year that drones have emerged as a cultural phenomenon. I am currently reading Dickens’ Bleak House, an amazing story that includes many references to 19th century culture. For example, on page 344 Dickens includes in his descriptions of the Smallweed family, a family that is basically born adult, presumably skipping childhood and childish things, numerous childish games and toys that were popular in his day:

“… her twin brother couldn’t wind up a top for his life. He knows no more of Jack the Giant Killer or of Sinbad the Sailor than he knows of the people in the stars. He could as soon play at leap-frog or at cricket as change into a cricket or a frog himself.”

  2. My favourite feature is to be able to shoot in 4K. That’s just amazing for taking good photos and videos.

  6. I think the coolest feature of all the drone above has to be the camera! I’m uberly (if that’s even a word) interested in photography and these drones just open so many doors and never before views in the aerial photography. . Its a growing popularity. I’ve never owned a droned before but they’ve been a growing interest of mine for some time but they also have a pretty big price tag. If i were to win i would use what i think is the coolest feature of the drone all the time, which would have to be like i said the camera! its just awesome !!

  9. I liked the DJI Phantom. To be able to go up high and capture some amazing scenic videos and pics you cant normally see in HD would be amazing!

  16. The obstacle sensing system is a great feature of the Phantom 4. Super contest for a prize that everyone would love to own, but may not be able to convince themselves to purchase. So much fun to be had with a prize like this.

  23. DJI MAVIC – The fact that the drone is foldable and compact and can be taken with you quickly and easily.

  27. The Phantom 4K is pretty awesome. Clear pics that are with today’s top tech. What I like best is the obstacle avoidance sensing system. No matter how easy they are to fly, a system designed to help avoid collisions seems like a smart feature.

  42. Drones are a necessity for travelling. I absolutely LOVE that the Quadcopter is foldable and lightweight – it makes it so easy to carry around!
