Remote controlled planes and helicopters have been around for many years but they never caused the frenzy that we have seen with drones. They have invaded our psyche and become a part of our culture. This is the year that drones have emerged as a cultural phenomenon. I am currently reading Dickens’ Bleak House, an amazing story that includes many references to 19th century culture. For example, on page 344 Dickens includes in his descriptions of the Smallweed family, a family that is basically born adult, presumably skipping childhood and childish things, numerous childish games and toys that were popular in his day:

“… her twin brother couldn’t wind up a top for his life. He knows no more of Jack the Giant Killer or of Sinbad the Sailor than he knows of the people in the stars. He could as soon play at leap-frog or at cricket as change into a cricket or a frog himself.”

  4. I my case the best feature would be the obstacle avoidance feature(s), found in the DJI Phantom 4 4K and DJI MAVIC Foldable Quadcopter Drone (with 4K UHD Camera and controller).
    Still unable to wrap my mind around Dickens and drones…”It was the best of drones, it was the worst of drones (in my case, until the obstacle avoidance feature(s)”!

  13. i absolutely love that it has4k video or full HD at 120 fps so i can film al of my fantastic adventures throughout the summer. Also, it having built in Wi-Fi allows me to upload the fantastic videos easier than ever!

  29. I’ve been following the development of the drone industry for some time. IMHO, DJI’s feature-laden, multi-mode models set the gold standard for serious hobbyist/professional video drones. It’s a toss-up whether my favourite feature is the 120 fps slo-mo HD video capture of the Phantom 4 or the go anywhere, fold-away, pure portability of the Mavic. Please, Best Buy, I NEED one of these drones for Christmas! 🙂

  42. I have always loved anything that is remote controlled! Growing up I have had some rc toys ,but they were cheap and never went over 10 kmh. As I am older now (15) I still don’t have the money to offered fast things . Seeing videos of the dji phantom inspires me to get more money so I can hopefully one day buy it… My Favorite features about this drone is everything !! I love how it can go super fast, I love how it can go far distances. I’ve always wanted to view my city from high up! I love that it can hover in one place. 25 minutes of flight time would be amazing!!! But I have to say that my main feature is the camera. I’ve always loved filming and making movies and with this it would help me achieve better videos. My cousins love to watch my videos and I’m sure I could make something really special for them with this!!!

  46. The compact size and the portability of the DJI Mavic Pro is second to none. You can take the drone anywhere you go without the need of carrying a big bulky case making it the best drone on the market today.

  49. I love the capabilities of the DJI Phantom 4 4K. The obstacle avoidance sensing system is an added bonus. My family would be thrilled to win one of these fabulous drones!!
