Nintendo Switch is the ultimate family gaming console. It has the flexibility to take anywhere your family goes, and the versatility to go from individual play to interactive or competitive play. Also, the selection of games continues to excite us with each new release. Their newest game, Pokemon Scarlet / Pokemon Violet comes out this month and Best Buy is giving away a copy of the double pack version of the game, a Nintendo prize pack, and a Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Edition Switch OLED, for one amazing ultimate Nintendo prize.

Do you have a favourite Nintendo memory?

Families have been enjoying Nintendo gaming for decades. My favourite Nintendo memory is from when my children were young playing Mario Kart with my father-in-law Dan. The fun started with selecting a driver, “Granpa, I want to be Bowser; you got to be him last time!” which to an outsider may have seemed confrontational but the atmosphere was total fun and laughs.

Pokemon too has been thrilling adults and children since 1996. What started as a very successful video game for the Game Boy quickly evolved into anime, trading cards, manga, and tons of related toys and other merchandise. Few on this planet have not experience Pokemon in one way or another. This contest will certainly create lasting memories for someone in Canada. The prize includes a Nintendo Switch console on which they will play countless games at home, at friends’ homes, and on road trips. One of those games will be the new Pokemon Scarlet / Pokemon Violet that’s also included in this prize. And the winner will also enjoy a collection of Nintendo Pokemon merchandise. It’s pretty much a perfect Pokemon prize!

Many people will be gifting Nintendo this season

You may be wondering what are the best games to give Nintendo Switch gamers this season. You might already have an opinion about it, or you may be interested in what games other players are recommending. We sent our writers to a Nintendo holiday showcase event to get some insights and you can read about their experiences on the blog. Also, scroll through the comments under that article. For the next two weeks, Canadians will be leaving their Nintendo Switch game recommendations under that article as one of the methods of entering this contest. Here are all of the ways you can enter this contest:

How to enter

Entering this contest is easy and you can enter in three different ways:

  1. In a comment below, tell us what your favourite Nintendo memory is, what game, was involved, and why this memory stands out for you.
  2. In a comment beneath the “Nintendo Holiday Showcase” article, tell us which Nintendo Switch game sold at Best Buy (include the model number) is your gift recommendation for Canadians this season.
  3. For up to two (2) additional entries, create a public post on a social media channel (one entry per channel!) telling your friends and followers which version “Pokemon Scarlet” or “Pokemon Violet” you’ll play first if you win this Nintendo Switch prize pack; include the hashtag #BestBuyNintendoSwitchContest, so we can find your post, and include one of the pictures showing on this article.
Then return here and tell us in a comment below on which channel you posted it and the name of your channel (since many people use pseudonyms) so that we can check and verify your entry. You can use any social media channel (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, etc.), but the post must be public so we can verify it is there.

What you can win

At the end of this contest, we will randomly select one (1) winner to receive the Nintendo Switch Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Prize pack that includes the double game and the Nintendo Switch OLED Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Edition.

This contest runs from Nov 17th until Dec 5th.

Remember you can enter in three different way as discussed above. Nintendo is best played with friends and our contests are best enjoyed with you share with family and friends to increase that chances that either you or someone close to you wins a great prize.

Win a Nintendo Switch OLED with Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Rules and Regulations

  1. Playing Super Smash Bros on N64 with Middle School friends; it was a simpler time during which I could focus on gaming alone!

  2. Playing N64 with my sister in our basement! We used to go to Blockbuster to rent new games for the weekend and try our best to beat as many levels as we could before the return date! One of our favorite N64 games was Tarzan, and we could never get passed the level ‘Sabor attacks” – so many laughs trying!

  3. My favourite Nintendo memory is of the Christmas that I received Zelda 2 for the original NES. I remember I was in grade 2 at the time and I would think about the game every day, leading up to Christmas and of course during school after Christmas. The memory stands out because it was such an awesome game, easily my favourite video game ever. Every year that I would receive a video game for Christmas I would think ‘this game is pretty good, but it doesn’t beat the experience of my Zelda 2 Christmas’…..

  4. Coming down Christmas morning to find Santa left me a Gameboy under the tree! It was exactly what I wanted! The excitement! ….. probably also stands out because I went down to visit my family the day after in Toronto and as we were parked at my grandmothers unloading gifts standing right next to the car and a group of teen hooligans pushed us out of the way ransacked our car right in front of us and stole what presents they could grab including my Gameboy and ran off. They even threw my purple mittens in a snowbank as they made their getaway. Honestly I cried so much that Christmas after that. People can really be the worst.

  5. Getting a Wii for the kids at Christmas when they were little and everyone having a blast playing Rayman Rabbids.

  6. Playing Pokémon with my brother after school. We had so many challenges and bragging rights, it was great fun and awesome memories to share as siblings.

  7. My favourite memory is when my neighbour gave me his old Original Gameboy and I played Pokemon Blue all night long every night without getting any sleep before school. Gotta catch em all!

  8. My kids all wanted the Nintendo 64. I remeber working overtime and double shifts to be able to get them one. Of course mario Cart was also on their wish list. The excitement when they saw it under the tree Christmas morning still makes me smile!!

  9. Playing Yoshi’s World on Super Nintendo at my buddy’s place as I didn’t own one. It was always a blast and we had many good laughs.

  10. Playing Pokémon Snap with my cousin on his Nintendo 64. My parents never allowed me to get a gaming console, so staying over at my cousin’s was always so much fun. I really like Jigglypuff, so getting a shot of three of them in the game is the memory that stands out to me in particular.

  11. My favourite Nintendo memory has to be growing up and playing games with my dad as a way of bonding. Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess will forever be one of my favourite games because of that and I can’t wait for more memories

  12. My favourite Nintendo memory was playing Super Mario Bros on Super Nintendo. The thrill, excitement and anxiety playing was all worth it. It was the best of times!

  13. my favorite memory is playing the original Legend of Zelda and the memory stands out because it was such a new technology and games could be saved, and the whole family contributed to the game play

  14. My favorite Nintendo moment was playing Pokémon with my game boy, I remember staying up all night under my sheets playing.

  15. My favorite Nintendo moment was playing animal crossing during the pandemic lockdowns. That game kept me connected with family and friends.

  16. oh my best memory is definitely playing Super Mario World with my friends two little brothers. We would spend hours. I would try and try but I just wasn’t very good at it but I had a lot of fun. One of them has since passed so I especially treasure those memories

  17. Old school Nintendo Game & Watch: Popeye. Played with that thing day and night till I lost it on a plane. Was devastated.
