Nintendo Switch is the ultimate family gaming console. It has the flexibility to take anywhere your family goes, and the versatility to go from individual play to interactive or competitive play. Also, the selection of games continues to excite us with each new release. Their newest game, Pokemon Scarlet / Pokemon Violet comes out this month and Best Buy is giving away a copy of the double pack version of the game, a Nintendo prize pack, and a Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Edition Switch OLED, for one amazing ultimate Nintendo prize.
Do you have a favourite Nintendo memory?
Families have been enjoying Nintendo gaming for decades. My favourite Nintendo memory is from when my children were young playing Mario Kart with my father-in-law Dan. The fun started with selecting a driver, “Granpa, I want to be Bowser; you got to be him last time!” which to an outsider may have seemed confrontational but the atmosphere was total fun and laughs.
Pokemon too has been thrilling adults and children since 1996. What started as a very successful video game for the Game Boy quickly evolved into anime, trading cards, manga, and tons of related toys and other merchandise. Few on this planet have not experience Pokemon in one way or another. This contest will certainly create lasting memories for someone in Canada. The prize includes a Nintendo Switch console on which they will play countless games at home, at friends’ homes, and on road trips. One of those games will be the new Pokemon Scarlet / Pokemon Violet that’s also included in this prize. And the winner will also enjoy a collection of Nintendo Pokemon merchandise. It’s pretty much a perfect Pokemon prize!
Many people will be gifting Nintendo this season
You may be wondering what are the best games to give Nintendo Switch gamers this season. You might already have an opinion about it, or you may be interested in what games other players are recommending. We sent our writers to a Nintendo holiday showcase event to get some insights and you can read about their experiences on the blog. Also, scroll through the comments under that article. For the next two weeks, Canadians will be leaving their Nintendo Switch game recommendations under that article as one of the methods of entering this contest. Here are all of the ways you can enter this contest:
How to enter
Entering this contest is easy and you can enter in three different ways:
- In a comment below, tell us what your favourite Nintendo memory is, what game, was involved, and why this memory stands out for you.
- In a comment beneath the “Nintendo Holiday Showcase” article, tell us which Nintendo Switch game sold at Best Buy (include the model number) is your gift recommendation for Canadians this season.
- For up to two (2) additional entries, create a public post on a social media channel (one entry per channel!) telling your friends and followers which version “Pokemon Scarlet” or “Pokemon Violet” you’ll play first if you win this Nintendo Switch prize pack; include the hashtag #BestBuyNintendoSwitchContest, so we can find your post, and include one of the pictures showing on this article.
Then return here and tell us in a comment below on which channel you posted it and the name of your channel (since many people use pseudonyms) so that we can check and verify your entry. You can use any social media channel (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, etc.), but the post must be public so we can verify it is there.
What you can win
At the end of this contest, we will randomly select one (1) winner to receive the Nintendo Switch Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Prize pack that includes the double game and the Nintendo Switch OLED Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Edition.
This contest runs from Nov 17th until Dec 5th.
Remember you can enter in three different way as discussed above. Nintendo is best played with friends and our contests are best enjoyed with you share with family and friends to increase that chances that either you or someone close to you wins a great prize.
Win a Nintendo Switch OLED with Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Rules and Regulations
Good Luck.

My favorite Nintendo memory is gifting my 5 year son with his first Nintendo. He is now in his 30s and has had every Nintendo console. The first game we had was Super Mario Bros and all played for hours and hours. It was so much fun discovering all the secret passages and finally passing a board. Best family game ever
During my wife’s first pregnancy (early nineties), she was on bed rest for the last couple of weeks. I bought a Nintendo console and Super Mario Bros/Duck Hunt game for her to pass the time. I don’t think she ever used it and I never left her side, controller in hand. I could beat the game start to finish in about 8 minutes. When my son was born I’m sure he had the Mario theme song permanently engrained in his brain.
Playing Mario Kart for the first time
Favorite memory was the whole family gathering and playing with the Wii. Fun times
My favourite memory is introducing my kids to Mario Kart and spending hours playing with them!
My favourite memory is playing Mario Party with my roommates in university. We had an N64 in our living room and it was a way for us to hang out and enjoy our first taste of living on our own.
My favourite Nintendo memory is playing the Wii with my family
My favourite memories was playing Mario Cart with my Dad when I was a kid. We were so competitive! Miss those days.
I would say my fav Nintendo memory as after I got the NES as a kid, and seeing my dad turn back into a child when he discovered Duck Hunt
My favourite Nintendo memory is playing the Wii with my family, we would play Just Dance together and it was a bonding activity for all of us to be silly and have fun
My most memorable Nintendo moment occured when I purchased a Wii so my grandkids who lived 3 hours away would have something to play. They had so much fun on their frist visit, I had to give it to them so they could enjoy it back home.
In was posted overseas in the early 80’s and we spent a lot of time waiting for all clears, on exercises and travelling. I picked up the Nintendo Game & Watch: Mario Bros which had 2 screens and they were loading a truck, and the Nintendo Game & Watch: Parachute. They travelled with me for the rest of my service and in the early 2000’s i gave them to my great grand niece. They saved me from going stir crazy, played them for many many hours for many many years

Oh so many good memories of Nintendo. It shaped a Generation, also shaping gaming overall. My first memory is putting quarters into a machine playing super mario brothers. I also remember seeing it in Nintendo and it was like I got to get one of these, it was identical to the arcade.
My favourite Nintendo memory is playing Mario Kart with my kids and I am not the best game player. Just watching them laugh that laugh that gets everyone to laugh when I crashed all the time. I can still hear it today and still brings a smile to my face.
My first memory is getting the Nintendo 64 as a surprise gift for Christmas way back when it first came out. I still have it and my kids have played with it over the years.
My favourite memory was getting a Wii for Christmas and playing Wii sports. The console was so hard to find at that time. I really enjoyed competing against my siblings!
My favorite Nintendo memory is when my brother and I got a Super Nintendo from my grandma, our very first game console. Countless hours spent gaming on it throughout my childhood.
playing Mario Kart on Wii U with my 2 girls. We have so much fun, they quite excited as well. Will never forget playing where one leads and the other 2 block and they are shouting lines from Top Gun Maverick the entire time.
My favourite Nintendo memory is getting Pokemon Gold for my birthday one year and my twin sister getting Pokemon Silver. We played through those games together, doing trades and battling (when she felt like it) through a link cable. So much fun and going from black and white to colour Pokemon was really cool at the time.

There’s many memories here, but the one that stands out takes me way back to 1995. 12 year old me was off school afte fracturing my ankle and my Mom took me to pick out a new SNES game to help pass the time recovering. I chose a game I hadn’t seen or heard of because it has a HUGE box and included a strategy guide! Whoa! I have to get this game! I was hooked as soon as I made it to the character creation screen. That game wasn’t very successful in North America at the time, but ended up developing a large cult following in later years. That game, my favourite of all time, was Earthbound! I have my fractured ankle to thank for getting to experience one of the greatest RPGs of all time, before anyone really knew about it. I think that’s pretty darn cool.
Play Star Wars Lego with my family during the Holidays

My favorite Nintendo memory is getting Mario kart and played with it all night
My favourite Nintendo memory is gathering at my friend’s place after school every day to play on the Nintendo 64. We’d rotate between party games like Mario Kart, Golden Eye, Bomberman and Super Smash Bros comes to mind. Definitely miss the amount of local couch multiplayer there used to be!
My fondest memory is getting a Super Nintendo in the 90’s for christmas. My parents kept it a secret right up until me and my brother opened it and it was great!

My favourite Nintendo memory is playing super mario bros 3 as a child, The memory stands out because it was a fun game to play with other kids.
I have so many Nintendo memories but the one that stands out the most is getting a Nintendo 64 for Christmas of 98 that came with an extra limited edition purple atomic controller and why this memory stands out is because I bought WCW/NWO Revenge before I even had the N64 because I wanted to play that game so bad! As I was a lifelong wrestling fan and was so tired of playing crappy wrestling games on the Playstation especially after hearing for a whole year about how good the previous wrestling game WCW vs NWO World Tour Was so good and I was stuck playing WCW Nitro for Playstation which was so disappointing so enough was enough and I decided to finally get an N64 but I wouldn’t be able to get it until Christmas as I didn’t have the money till then but I was afraid WCW/NWO Revenge would be sold out so I decided to buy the game before I had the system to secure it. Well finally for Christmas of 98 my Mom actually went and bought me the N64 and gave it to me early for my Birthday which is on the 16th of December and I remember how happy I was and how excited I was to get it set up and pop in WCW/NWO Revenge and finally I got to and the game and experience was everything I could’ve ever asked for and more. Still one of if not the best wrestling games of all time. The wrestling games that were on the N64 haven’t ever been matched to this day. They are second to none and I will always remember the N64 for those games first. Thank You Mom for Everything!
My favourite Nintendo memory is playing Pokemon mystery dungeon on my DS. This memory stands out because it was my first game on the DS.

Having very young parents I didn’t get a lot of the newest tech however one year when I turned 10 my uncle bought me a Nintendo gameboy with Warioland ! It was one of the best gifts I ever got, I must have beat that game 500 times.
My favourite Nintendo memory is trading my copy of pokemon mystery dungeon to my friend for his copy of pokemon Pearl… jokes on him because I liked Pokemon Pearl much more!
My best memory was playing mario cart with friends.
My favorite Nintendo memory would be playing Pokémon diamond and pearl as a kid, because this is one of my memories that comes to mind when thinking about best times during childhood.
